The Server Intelligence Agent for this server is unavailable

Folks,

 

Issue surfaces after clustering,above mentioned error appears in properties of each server irrespective of servers  running(pretend) and not running.

 

Here,we tried to cluster 4 nodes,first 2 nodes are good no issues,but 3 and 4 nodes have issue.

 

 

I also noticed below message under properties

 

" The server is not managed by Server Intelligence Agent. Current command line arguments could not be retrieved. Server restart would be required if the command line arguments are modified. Issue with the Prompt calendar in Webintellegence Report

Hi All,

Need your expertise inputs to resolve the below issue.

 

When we tried to run webi report and give date prompt value is 07/18/2013 12:00:00 AM and 07/18/2014 12:00:00 AM and when i check in the Webi sql the date values are converting into 07/18/2013 8:00:00 AM and 07/18/2014 8:00:00 AM.

 

This issue is impacting to all the reports.Even I checked it in the server level and the time is mentioned as per attachment

 

please find attachments as well.

 

BO version: BO BI 4.1

Database: Oracle 11i

Operating System: Linux

BO- LDAP authentication fails when LDAP server in cluster hangs.

Hi Experts,

 

We are having BO XI 3.1 SP 7 enviornment an using manual LDAP authentication enabled. Recently we have observed that when our LDAP server hangs the entire BO authentication doesnt work(DEV/QA?PROD). We have LDAP servers in clusted and are load balanced, i.e We have a load balancer first and then LDAP servers in cluster(3).

 

While configuring the LDAP authentication we have given the Load balancer as the LDAP host in Business Objects.

 

Other tools are not facing this issue and its specific to BO tool.

BIP Support Tool - CMS - Longest Query Response Time Since Startup

Hello,

 

I like the BI Platform Support Tool very much, but one thing which is really strange to me is the evaluation of the Central Management Server metric "Longest Query Response Time Since Startup (msec)".

It's always showing an alert for that because it's around 150000 to even 350000 on our systems (depending on the day),

although all other CMS metrics are evaluated "green" and we don't have any issues with our CMS so far.

 

I've also asked the developers of the tool (Toby Johnston and Timothy Coffman) about that some time ago,

but I just got the info that the CMS has to be tuned, which shouldn't be the case.

Otherwise I should create an incident.


On other blogs or even in theirpre-recorded webinarI can see warnings/alerts for this metric, too


So how is your experience with this value?

Did somebody got this down to the recommended less than 10000 ms on a bigger productive system?

Or is it really just a thing which can be ignored at all??

CRYSTAL REPORT FOR ENTERPRISE ON ECC

Hi Everyone,

 

I have been trying to connect Crystal Report for Enterprise over ECC via universe as we don't have option

to connect CR4E directly to ECC.

 

So, I have made a universe in IDT and published it in repository.

 

Now, when I am using that universe in WebI Report and DashBoard then it is working fine but the same is throwing

the error while I am trying to connect with CR4E 'Failed to execute query: 'Fail to create an instance of Job : com/businessobjects/i18n/locale/BoLocale'.

 

The same error 'Fail to create an instance of Job : com/businessobjects/i18n/locale/BoLocale' was also coming when we try to save the IDT  with Secure Connections is set to Server Middleware(Window -> Preferences->Information Design Tool ->Secured Connections ->Server Middleware).

Auditing on Flash/Excel Objects

Hi - am trying to build report out of Activity universe to check actions performed on Flash objects. I have a Flash file uploaded on one of the folders in Infoview.

 

The Actions captured in audit database for this object is 'Object Created','Object Deleted' and 'Object Modified'. I would like to know how to caputre the 'Object viewed' action in the database? This is a requirement to audit how many users are viewing my flash file everyday?

 

The version of Business Objects is XI 3.1

Queries related to Auditing

Hi All,

 

We have BO XI 3.1 sp2 FP 2.6 installed on our windows environment enabled for auditing.

After looking at the default auditing reports and the Activity universe, I still could not find answers for these queries:

 

1.We use u2018Schedule foru2019 option to run webi reports on behalf of some end user(SAP BW users). Report gets failed quite a few times for some users due to one or other error. I need an audit report showing details like  u2018for which user it failedu2019 and u2018cause of failureu2019 etc. But, I could not find any such fields in u2018activityu2019 universe that could pull such info from audit database. Moreover if I take u2018user nameu2019 in my report it merely shows the scheduler name who had actually scheduled report on behalf of other users. As exporting scheduling statistics from instance manager is not possible so having such audit report would be a great help.

 

2.Another audit report that we want to create is related to scheduled instances. Is there a way we can show who actually viewed the instance created by a successful job.

 

3.It seems that s auditing is not supported by Xcelsius dashboards ,can usage of such dashboards be tracked by any other means.

Multiple APS in Multiple Machine

Hi,

This is regards to the  SAP Business Objects BOE Installation for 4.1 version (Custom install).

I m trying to set-up a distributed environment for  setting Multiple APS. I would like to understand if its possible and good to do.

My plan is to create 5 APS servers in 2 different machines exclusively for the purpose to simulate a distributed environment.

The reason why i feel  to split the five Split APS servers  running in two different machines is each machine capacity is 16 GB RAM available.


What I have as of now :

Machine 1 and Machine 2 having custom installations and ascint as cluster to the Central BOE Machine 0. These Two machines 1, and 2 are indivijually running default APS for 1Gb.


What I m planning is :

Stop and disable the APS in both the machines and start creating the 7 split APS in these two machines


Machine 1 :

a. APS -1 : DSL Services (3Gb),

b. APS-2  : Search Services (2GB)

c.  APS-3 : OLAP : 3GB

d.  APS-3LCM : 1GB

 

 

Machine 2 :

a. Publishing services : 2GB

b. Webi services : 4GB

c. Other services : 2GB

 

 

Is it wise to split like this or  Or i must run All the APS servers  in one machine and then  Machine two i should have  a replica of Machine 1.

 

This is purely from a demo perspective. Requirements been Webi Running Optimally good an drest services will have average number of use case. Size wise, I m looking for a Small Installation type only

Let me know more info is needed so that i can provide the same.

Hello, everyone!

 

Could someone tell me is it possible to retrieve BPC comments into BI Universe? We're using BPC 7.5 NW SP10 version and would work with BI applications. We need to know whether is it possible to pull the data and the comments (associated with this data)  to BI Universes for using them in reports?

What is that used for?

Is it possible to create a data foundation based on an SAP HANA Attribute view?

 

I have learnt that we can create DF on SAP Hana Analytical View or Calculation View.

BO Environment Issue

Hi,

One of our clients have an issue with running the Crystal reports in BI Launch Pad.

When they run the crystal report in Quality system, they were asked for the credentials , But when the same report is run in the Production system it is not asking for the credentials.

What could be the Issue?

Any Ideas.

LCM CLI BI4.1

Hi Team,

 

Could you please let me know the procedure to perform LIVE to LIVE using LCM CLI.

 

I am able to export and then import using LCM CLI however I could not find any parameter explaining LIVE to LIVE.

 

Kindly provide your inputs.

BO 4.0 SP6 32-bit servers not starting

Hi,

 

I'm with a issue in a brand new installation. The version is 4.0 SP6 in a W2008 64 bits

The following services stays always in these status:

 

ConnectionServer32 - Hangs on "Initializing" State

CrystalReports2011ReportApplicationServer - Failed

CrystalReports2011ProcessingServer - Running with Errors

 

About the ConnectionServer32, I tried already to create a new server on CMC, change the port from "Auto-Assigned" to 6401 and include the servername in the hosts file. It still not working.

Looking in the ConnectionServer trace file, the error message that appears for me is:

Webi query performance in SAP BO 4.0 sp6

Hello,

 

I'm facing an issue with the webi reports in our BI 4 SP6 environment. The webi reports data fetch time is ridiculously slow, where as when these queries are run on Oracle 10g the results are returned much faster as compared to WebI. The same reports used to fetch data faster few months ago when we were on SP4.

 

Now my question is what can I do to improve the query data fetch time in webi? Is there some parameter that I can tweak in BO or do I need to add more services? Please suggest. thanks

 

Following are the specs of the QA environment:

We are using a clustered environment with 2 nodes (CUSNWA3T and CUSNWA3U) - these are the names of the nodes. Each node has 12 GB of RAM and each node is a VMware virtual machine running on windows server 2008. Each of these BO servers/nodes is having its own CMS server, I have broken down the APS into sub servers after facing issues with the DSL Bridge service.

how to schedule one instance at a time consecutively

Hi Everyone,

 

We are at BOXIR3.1 SP5 installed in RHEL and business is looking for below mentioned scheduling option for specific webi reports which are complex and having high volume of data.

 

Lets say the scenario is if the users schedules the specific webi report concurrently, the report should run only at one instance at a time which means the later submitted reports should wait for the first submitted instance to complete.

 

Please share your thoughts, comments or any suggestions to the above situation.

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException

Hi ,

 

I am facing a strange issue while scheduling webi reports having mandatory Bex prompts to File system destination .

 

The schdule runs fine when I tried to schedule the reports based on the same backend system having optional prompts .

 

The error when trying to schdule and go to prompts is java.lang.IllegalArgumentException.

 

ENV : BO 4.1 SP 2.1

Backend: CRM System Bex Query

 

Please find the attachment for the error screenshot .

 

I  already know about the ADAPT01613927 which is fixed in  BI 4.0 SP02 Patch2.13 and KBA 1681507 - Scheduling a Webi report with blank Optional prompts fails
with the error "exception raised: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException".

Error when generating BIAR file using Import Export utility XI 3.1

When trying to generate the BIAR file, getting attached error

 

"Error logging on to server. Check logon information and try again (IWZ 0001) failed to create JVM,

 

tried to Google it and found it that it could be relate to registry setting  for import wizard.

 

Following is my computer registry setting

 

MaxMemMB = 512

MinemMB = 64

 

I trued with increase size from 512 to 1024 but still same error.

 

I tried my logon on different machine and successfully created the BIAR file, so looks like my machine issue but need help how to resolve this.

 

The BIAR file size is around  3 MB.

Text in Webi Thick/Thin Client Appears very big

BI 4.1 Enterprise SP2 FP3

 

We have an issue isolated to one client PC where the font size of the UI is enormous and thus not all checkboxes, buttons etc are visible (see attached screenshot). This happens with both the thin and thick client. Any idea how to resolve?Capture.JPG

How to conditionally hide tabs in Webi

We have got a requirement to hide the tabs in WEBI based on userlogins.

 

Currently we have 2 tabs with 3 to 4 charts in each tab.

 

Requirement:

 

1. Conditionally hide the tabs based on user profile.

2. Conditionally hide the charts based on data privileges.

 

 

Is this possible in Webi or a work around?
