please does anyone know what could be the reason that Explorer objects (information space and exploration view set) cant be run via OpenDocument link? Other objects like WebI, Crystal, Analysis are fine.
The error is 404 Missing Page
Our system is BIP 4.0 SP5.
My user has full admin rights.
Is there anything that needs to be set up in order to make OpenDoc work for Explorer?

We have a need to delegate some content management responsibility to a select group of users so that they can handle copying, creating, moving and deleting objects in production. But we don't want them to able to edit Webi and other content not owned by them. It is possible to give them access to promotion management (PM) but that would mean giving them access to cmc which may open them upto other things that we may not want them to have. What options are there? Creating a custom level access and granting them the ability to copy, create, move and delete seems to be the easiest way but can we prevent them from editing others' objects? Or do you think PM is the best way to go?
Appreciate if anyone can provide any suggestions.

Hi all!
I created a custom access level which is quite close to the "Administrator" default access level - but my access levels obviously only allows to copy & paste reports ("Copy objects to another folder", "Add objects to the folder"), i.e. I am not able to cut reports or to directly move them (which both are available in Full Control/Administrator).
Any ideas what this particular right is?
[Is it possible that it has something to do with the "Edit objects" right? This one I do not want to assign...]

I'm wondering if you can set up email distributions to email addresses that aren't on the same domain as the sender. Here is what I have for the settings in my Adaptive Job Server.
I have also created a publication with the following settings:
I have a dynamic recipients list created with one email address that is on the sender's domain and one that is on another domain. The recipient on the domain gets the email sent by the publication but the publication fails for the other recipient. Am I doing something wrong or is this simply not allowed?

I've just started using the Publication/Burst functionality and I have two questions.
1. Is it possible to have the personalization parameter to be multi-value and if so, how would I set that up? Currently I'm getting a failed publication instance and the error just says it can't assign multiple values, even though the report itself is set up and runs properly outside the publication tool.
2. Once the Publication/Burst is successful, is there a way to see the completed documents in the history? The failed instances contain any documents that completed successfully, but then didn't get emailed out due to an smtp error. But, for the instances that are successful, it only shows the log file and not the resultant pdf or excel files.

We are doing integration like:
WinAD authentication to BO, then report created based on SSO connection to BW.
So we have aliased AD and SAP accounts in BO.
1. When we login with SAP account - the report refresh is OK
2. When we login with WinAD account - the report refresh crash with message "Failed to connect to the OLAP source"
3. When we first login with SAP account to some client tool (like IDT) and then login to LaunchPad with WinAD account - the report refresh is OK and everything goes fine with all reports since that time.
So the full AD-BO-SAP SSO integration works only since user at least once login with SAP credentials to client tool.
How can we solve that issue?

I was wondering if anyone has come accross this problem:
Requirement: Need a user to have different application access rights in different folders.
Scenario: We have distributed template reports for consumption by users. These users can copy our templates and modify them for their own purposes. However we need to ensure that someone checks the report data before it is Exported. So as to not permit changing of reports and exporting them.
So implemented Application level CALS on webi.
Configured Directory A to have WEBi application read/run rights and Content "export to" rights and folder B to have WebI Application design rights and Content read rights (No Export).
When implemented it seems that at a folder level the WEBi application rights are ignored (WebI Content Rights seems to work fine) the Webi application rights are read from the rights assigned to the WEBi application in CMC Applications. So in summary it seems applying WEBi Application rights on a folder does not work?

The other day i was working on DS 4.2 suddenly the CMS and tomcat stopped working (which was a bit surprising first) so we thought of restarting the machine . so after restarting the machine Tomcat and SIA got started up but CMS didnt start up there was no process of CMS created .we tried starting it again and checked the processes,the CMS process was getting created but it went off after few seconds .
The event viewer logs had the following entries. I am able to login and querie BOAUDIT databses tables and the cmc database from sqlplus , sqldeveloper,and sql tools.

The BI Launchpad is embedded as a tab in our SAP portal. When I open the BI Launchpad via the portal I briefly can see the top bar containing the Home/Documents tabs, Preferences link etc, then about 1/2 a second later it disappears completely dropping me into the Documents tab, albeit missing the tabs bar on the top of the screen. When I open the BI Launchpad via the direct link I have no problem seeing the Home/Documents tabs, preferences etc. I am on IE 10, Windows 7 SP1, and BI 4.1 SP02 (Version: 14.1.2.1121). According to the PAM documents for 4.1 this shouldn't be a problem as it is supported. I tested this with the latest version of firefox and it does not have the same problem, so that rules out security.
Anyone have an idea as to why this might be happening?

I can think of
- combining few BOXI3.1/BI4.1 Auditing reports into My InfoView (BOXI3.1) or BI workspace (BI4.1), and publish the URL link for openDocument to JIVE, or
- combining few BOXI3.1/BI4.1 Auditing reports into a daily report with PDF output. The destination is JIVE and add it to Documents.
Is there a Best Class in BO Matrix Reporting solution?

Environment: BI4.1 WEBI via launchpad.
Requirement : Create a WEBI report on Activity universe(using SQLAnywhere 12)
I have to create a couple of reports using the Activity universe(with SQLAnywhere 12) I do not have access to the universe designer / IDT. Also we do not have the SQLAnywhere 12 installed on our system.
The BO Admin team created the DSN for Universe -> tested the connection -> exported the universe.
However whenever I try to create a basic report with a couple of dimensions and a measure the report throws an exception
Database error: [Sybase][ODBC Driver][SQL Anywhere]Syntax error near '\0' on line 2. (IES10901) (Error:INF)
Google says install the SQLAnywhere 12 client and so on and so forth, but I do not have access for installing any new software / driver on the machine.
Can you please help in resolving this issue..
If i need to guide the BO Admin on some steps, kindly advice on that too,

Dear experts,
I am experiencing weird Web Intelligence 4.0 behaviour when setting up access levels.
We are using a 4.0 Version SP4 Patch 4.
I am trying to set users to open WebI reports, use input controls and refresh a report. The rights that I granted on the Folder and BI Launchpad are:
Now 2 weird things happen:
First: The User is able to switch do design mode.
Second: The Saving button is enabled. When users hit the button they have to restart the browser. No error message is displayed.
My questions are now:
If that's how it's supposed to be: Is there a way to disable "Available Objects" in the Design mode?
OR
When will this Bug be fixed and/or is there a workaround?

We have a clustered BI4.0 environment in production enviornment and need to complete upgrade during the weekend window. What should be the rollback startegy in case upgrade fails in production environment? Can we do a rollback in middle of upgrade process.

Or does it not create the files rather you take your own backups (if so, what's the point of enabling it)?

I a using IDT to design universe.I wanted to implement SQL 92 standard.
I set ANSI 92 parameter to "YES" at Business layer.
However i still see the join @ where Clause.
Do i need to modify prm file on the server to achieve this.I want to use ANSI 92 setting only to my universe without afftecting other universe.

While reading the BI4 Sizing guide again after some time, I was wondering about two things:
- The info about APS DSL maximum heap sizing (-xmx) in several places, e.g. page 40:
"Memory is calculated based on the number of expected active concurrent users as follows:
0.25 GB per active concurrent user
8 GB minimum
30 GB maximum"
This is strange, since in openSAP training - BI 4 Platform Innovation and Implementation we were told that
the maximum heap size for any APS shouldn't be higher than 8GB, to avoid garbage collection issues.
But when looking at the given calculation formula, our APS DSL should have around 12,5 GB.
What is your experience with that?
- The number of Web Intelligence Processing Servers (WIPS), e.g. page 39:
"When adding additional WebI instances, it is recommended that each instance run on a separate
machine in order to maximize the I/O capacity available to the servers."
Because we had a lot of issues with WebI performance in the past, we were advised to increase
the number of WIPS on our BIP by SAP consulting. This should also ensure (better) load balancing.
Now we have two WIPS for DEV/QA and four for PRD, but these are all single node systems.
What is your experience with this?
Is this mentioned I/O bottleneck when having more than one WIPS on the same node really there?
On the other hand: are there any issues possible when having only one WIPS in the PRD deployment (loadbalancing, etc.)?
Since we have around 50 ACU, one WIPS should be enough when looking at the sizing guide, but I'm wondering about the side effects.
(We are running 4.1 SP2 patch 1 on W2k8 R2)

There's a pretty straight forward steps to enable the '"savePassword" functionality in BOBI 4.1 SP2 : i.e.
#1. Navigate to //BOBJ Install Directory/enterprize_xi40/warfiles/webapps/MobileBIService/WEB-INF/config/custom
a. take the back up of existing web.xml
b. change value ' boe ' to ' local ' in web.xml > for ' mobile.server.configuration.location ' section > save
c. create one file ' ClientSettings.properties” under 'custom' directory above
d. this "ClientSettings.properties” under custom should have property ' savePassword=true '' > save
e. re-deploy webapp
> Our end user on iPAD should be able to use 'save password ' feature after web redeployment but that is not the case !!
I doubt that there's need to configure this web.xml ( changes from ' boe ' to 'local' ) at some other location in addition to the one above !!
Has anyone configured this property successfully in a BOBI Mobile Scenario where End User on Mobile Device / iPAD would need to save the password ??
If so, pl share your knowledge / inputs ..your time and effort is highly appreciated.
