BI Launchpad - Missing Tabs (Home/Documents/Preferences) - IE 10

Hello,

 

The BI Launchpad is embedded as a tab in our SAP portal. When I open the BI Launchpad via the portal I briefly can see the top bar containing the Home/Documents tabs, Preferences link etc, then about 1/2 a second later it disappears completely dropping me into the Documents tab, albeit missing the tabs bar on the top of the screen.  When I open the BI Launchpad via the direct link I have no problem seeing the Home/Documents tabs, preferences etc. I am on IE 10, Windows 7 SP1, and BI 4.1 SP02 (Version: 14.1.2.1121). According to the PAM documents for 4.1 this shouldn't be a problem as it is supported.  I tested this with the latest version of firefox and it does not have the same problem, so that rules out security.


Anyone have an idea as to why this might be happening?

Importing users from Windows AD

We are running SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 Support Pack 2 Patch 1:

 

 

 

I have setup the import users from AD which works, the
issues is went the system creates the users account the system doesn't automatically
give the user security access to their personal folder, personal categories and
their inbox. So, until I give each user full access to their above 3 folders
they are unable to log in to the SAP Business object site. We use the SharePoint
integrator so that the interface is shown inside SharePoint in order to use
Single Sign on. In our old 2008 server the import feature work great so does
anyone know if I am missing a setting or maybe this has been addressed in a
service pack

Find heap memory Size for Web Intelligence processing server in BO 4.0

Hi All ,

 

We need to gather data for sizing inputs.For Adaptive processing server , we can find same by going in CMC> Server > APS > Properties & check value for the parameter -Xmx  . Could you please tell how to  find the max heap memory allocated for a Web Intelligence processing server in BO 4.0 as for Webi server this parameter is not maintained. ?

2 Questions about Publishing/Bursting

Crystal Reports 2008 SP 6.3 (Version 12.6.3.1915)

SAP Business Objects Enterprise XI (Version 12.1.0)

 

I've just started using the Publication/Burst functionality and I have two questions.

 

1. Is it possible to have the personalization parameter to be multi-value and if so, how would I set that up? Currently I'm getting a failed publication instance and the error just says it can't assign multiple values, even though the report itself is set up and runs properly outside the publication tool.

 

2. Once the Publication/Burst is successful, is there a way to see the completed documents in the history? The failed instances contain any documents that completed successfully, but then didn't get emailed out due to an smtp error. But, for the instances that are successful, it only shows the log file and not the resultant pdf or excel files.

Problem Publishing to and Viewing Reports in Crystal Reports Server

Hello,

 

I am new to Crystal Reports and Crystal Reports Server, and I am just trying to publish a simple report to the server.  I downloaded the trial versions of Crystal Reports and Crystal Reports Server.  I have followed the steps in this video, but when I try to view the reports in the Central Management Console, I can only see the Object Package, not the report itself. Is there another step I need to take to make the report viewable from the server console?  Is this even the right way to go about viewing reports from the server?

 

Also, when I try to view the sample reports included in the trial version, I get the following error:

The viewer could not process an event. Unable to find servers in CMS MYSERVER.MYDOMAIN.local:6400 and cluster @MYSERVER.MYDOMAIN.local:6400 with kind cacheserver and service BlockingDocumentConnectionRepository. All such servers could be down or disabled by the administrator. (FWM 01014) [RASLIB9006] [CRSDK00000813] ---- Error code:0 [CRWEB00000119]

 

Any help is appreciated!

BO4 - Excel-based data providers not working

Hi,

 

Have created some reports in webi rich client and trying to schedule these.

 

The files concerned exist on a newtork share (drive) U.

 

server also has drive mapped to drive U but when schedule them get message below

 

The file that is required to refresh the query cannot be found on the file system. File not found: "U:\<filename>.xlsx" (IES 10851)


Tried .xls and .xlls same bahviour - any ideas?


It works when use a unc pathname

Single DB hit for Report Publication

We have some Crystal Reports and Webi Reports

 

Each Report we need to distribute to the end users in PDF/Excel Format. For Each reports the users >10000 members 

 

Currently we are generating the reports trough publications . We have implemented role based / hierachy based secuirity in one table ( with has BOUSERID Filed ) and that table we are joining with Reporting table and created BOUSERID prompt( This wiill be in Where class of the underlying report query )

 

This parameter is associated with profile value ( Profile Value is BOUSERID System variable )

 

So basically the personification with BOUSERID  Profile value and the report hits the DB for 1000 times This is time consuming

 

 

My Planing to implement the Single DB hit and  divide the report to all the users through Publication . Dynamic distribution is not good for our requirement

Please suggest me best approach and steps to achieve

Universe or No Universe

Hi All,

 

I am brand new to the BOBJ's, the CMC, and BI Launch Pad, so I think I have an understanding of Groups and Users, but still a little rusty on how to set up security in a organized fashion, but the main question is how to create one Crystal Report and have the info filter down from highest user to lowest user without having to create a bunch of different reports each one going to each person. Example Executive level can see all info and the Sales Managers a little less and finally Sales Reps seeing the least info. I keep hearing I need Profiles, but for Profiles you have to have Universes, or some say you do not need Universes or Profiles. I am lost. What is the best way to add security to Groups and Users to pare down what info they each need from reports?

 

Any help is greatly appreciated!

How To Pass 'hidden' Parameters in BOBJ 4.1 SP2 automatically?

We are in the process of updating our CE Enterprise ver 10 Server to BOBJ 4.1 SP2 (using BOE Xi 3.1 as the intermediate as one cannot migrate directly) and encountered a puzzling issue in the test environment when using BOBJ 4.1 SP2 (or even BOE Xi 3.1).

 

Here's our issue:

 

A former staff many moons ago must have set up a custom SDK for the Crystal Enterprise ver 10 where there is a "hidden" parameter that would automatically pass the value of the User security groups (ie. If you belong to Security Group A), then "A" will pass to the "vUsername" parameter automatically when an individual runs a Crystal Report.  The report would, based on this, only show Group A's data.  User belonging to Group B would then only see Group B's data, and Group C would only see C's data in the report, etc.  This is working fine in Crystal Enterprise ver 10, but on the newly set up BOBJ 4.1 SP2 CMS server (test environment), we could not get the value to pass automatically.  Other reports not dependent on the 'hidden' parameter is working fine.

 

I'm assuming we need to add this using a Publication or use Processing Extension somehow to mimic the current process seen in CE ver 10..  Would anyone be able to assist or direct me on how to get this set up as we've been puzzling over this for awhile now and we need to get this resolved asap.

upgrade default tomcat 7 in BOE 3.1 SP6.2

I am on BOXI 3.1 SP6.2 Window 2008 server, oracle database. I need to upgrade from the default Tomcat (7.0.27) to Tomcat 7.0.50.  Has anyone done this yet? Can someone share steps needed to do this?  Thank you.

Database Configuration Question

Hi,

 

I'm having problems viewing a report in Crystal Server.  I have published a report to the CMC, but I can't view it.  I have tried a few different database configurations so far with no success.

 

Some background on my setup: 

     -The Crystal Report connects to a SQL Server database through a 32 bit ODBC connection and is able to access the data correctly

     -The database has a user called "test_user" that uses SQL Server authentication for access

     -In CMC, I have added an identical test user and granted it permission on the folder with my report

 

In the database configuration tab of my report I have tried prompting the user for database logon with the "Use original database logon information from the report" button checked.  I have entered the test user information for both the prompt and the fields in the database configuration tab.  However, I can't view the report when I do this, it just keeps prompting for login information every time I submit.

 

I have also tried using the "Use same database logon as when report is run" and "Use user database credentials for database logon" options on the database configuration tab.  I still have the "Use original database logon information from the report" button checked with the test user information.  In both of these cases, I get an error that says:  The viewer could not process an event. The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect. [] ---- Error code:0 [CRWEB00000119]

 

I have seen some discussions with similar issues but none that completely match what I am talking about. Thanks in advance for any help!

CMC Event notification for Publication

Hello everyone- I am having some trouble trying to figure out if an event notification is being sent or not.

 

See attached file for all detailed information and screen prints of Event and Publication set up.

 

We are currently on BW 7.3 & BOBJ 4.1 SP2

 

Here is what is happening (explained in more detail on the attached file):

  • Created a BEx query that is the source for the WebI report “IP Recp List 2014”.
  • Created a publication “Test Publication for Event Trigger” for this WebI report.
  • The publication runs the WebI report and then publishes the report to the BOBJ Server

o   These servers are inside the firewall (.net servers)

  • Once the publication is done an Event “Publication_complete_Event” will be triggered to send a notification to the BOBJ server’s Windows Event Log, signifying that the report generation is complete
  • Once the Event trigger is there a batch script is executed from the windows server. It will move the reports from the BOBJ server to the incentives servers (grrapxww111 and grrapxww112).

o   These servers are outside of the firewall (.com servers)

 

The issue is that the batch script job is not finding the Event Notification from BOBJ. I am not sure where the break down is happening...in BOBJ or the Windows side. Is there some way for me to verify that the notification is being sent and where to?

Information design tool issues

Hello All,

 

I have several questions related to IDT...

 

1. IDT is now showing business layer and data foundation layer in 2 different tabs.

2. I am unable to view associated tables and values.

 

 

3. how can i get the defalut view of my IDT universe where my business layer and data foundation layer are not in 2 different tabs...this way i cannot see associated tables and views.

 

4. I am unable to drag and drop objects from my table in DFL to business layer...how do i resolve this

 

 

Any help greatly appreciated.

Installing BO Explorer and Design Studio

Hello Experts,

 

I installed BI 4.1 SP2 Client tools on my laptop: BI 4.1 SP2, Crystal reports 2013, Dashboards SP2 and SAP Lumira and all are successfully installed.

 

I am trying to install BO Explorer but asking me CMS port number and Administrator Password, just want to confirm if the BO Explorer needs to be installed on BO Server?  since we want the tool to be used by our super users to develop and i assume it can be installed on developer laptops.

 

Also, I am trying to install Design Studio 1.2( downloaded all 4 parts) after running the file for design studio 1.2_1 its looking for design studio 1.3 instead of design studio 1.2_2, could you please confirm design studio installation also if it goes as part of client tools?

Delete Events Older Than N Days

Currently on BO 4.1SP3.

 

Through the CMC, I've just changed the ADS configuration settings in the Auditing Dashboard to delete events older than a specific number of days (previously, this was set to a higher number).

 

My question comes down to: When does the cleanup actually begin where it will start to delete the old events?

And is there a way to kick off the process at a specific time?

DBdriver failed to load - BI Launch Pad

We are experiencing very strange behavior from the BI Launch Pad.  The following errors are occurring when refreshing a WebI report via the BI Launch pad

 

Database error: (CS) "DBDriver failed to load : F:\SAP Business Objects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\dataAccess\connectionsServer\drivers\lib32\

 

for the following DLL files: dbd_mssql.dll, dbd_wsqloledb and dbd_oci.dll

 

This error does not occur if we set the connection security to "full control", however setting the connections to "view on demand" will cause these errors.  These errors also do not happen when using WebI rich client, regardless of security settings on the connections. 

 

This error also only occurs for Universe created with the IDT (BOE 4.0), we have older universes still in .unv 3.x mode which work fine with the connections set to "view on demand".

 

Another odd thing is if we reboot the environment I can run the report from BI Launch pad one time successfully.  A second refresh will produce these errors until another reboot occurs.

 

We have an ODBC connection to HANA that refreshes fine with "view on demand".

 

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Crystal server 2013 giving error on Windows 8

Hi All,

 

Please how do i resolve this following  error:

The type initializer for 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument' threw an exception.

 

This comes up when i run my application but doesn't occur when i run it during design.

The application was developed with VS2012. and hosted on a 64bit Windows 8

 

 

I have tried below link supported msi & exe files also

SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio: Updates & Runtime Downloads

 

but still same problem

I have just installed Information platform services 4.1 sp2 on a windows server 2008 R2 standard service pack 1. having 8 GB RAM.
Central Configuration manager is in Running status but when I try to login to Cental management Console then I get following error

 

"Account information not recognized: Could not reach CMS '<MachineName>:6400'. The CMS on machine '<MachineName>' was stopped due to a critical error. (FWM 20031)"

 

I have CMS and AUDIT database on Oracle server and they are getting connected from my machine through SQL developer and the tables are also created under CMS and audit databases.

I am not able to figure out what Issue is causing the Error. Below is the content of error_cms6400.log file located in the directory <E:\SAP Business Objects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\logging>.

 

 

33007CMS system database is overloaded, please try again. If the problem persists, please contact the system administrator(FWB 00027)
35101The root server reported an error Initialization Failure. (Reason: CMS system database is overloaded, please try again. I have created New databases for CMS and audit and it is saying database is overloaded.

Please help me rectify the Issue.
