Hello,

Recently we have upgraded from BI4.0 Sp06 to BI4.1 SP2 patch2. After upgrade we are seeing 100% CPU utilization for tomcat7.exe service on our tomcat web servers. We have dedicated server for tomcat. We are on Windows 2008 R2 servers. Did anyone see this performance issue after upgrade to BI4.1. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Email Scheduling Question

I'm wondering if you can set up email distributions to email addresses that aren't on the same domain as the sender.  Here is what I have for the settings in my Adaptive Job Server.

ajsSettings.png

I have also created a publication with the following settings:

testPubSettings.png

I have a dynamic recipients list created with one email address that is on the sender's domain and one that is on another domain.  The recipient on the domain gets the email sent by the publication but the publication fails for the other recipient. Am I doing something wrong or is this simply not allowed?

Thanks

Business Objects Enterprise 11.5 FTP Transfer Problem

$

Hello,

Hopefully someone out there will be familiar with the issue I'm having and be able to provide a solution.

We are running Business Objects Enterprise 11.5 on our Windows 2003 server.  I've created and scheduled a job on the server that creates an XLS file containing loan portfolio data that is to be transmitted to a third party client on a monthly basis.

The problem centers around the method of transfer, which is via FTP to a secure site hosted by the client.  When executed through Crystal, the FTP actually does achieve a successful login using the credentials the client provided (we have verified this repeatedly by looking at the logs), but the client's server "kicks out" when we attempt any operation on it.

A similar result was produced when we attempted to FTP to the site via the Windows command line.  The login was successful, but even a simple command to view the directory "dir" resulted in the connection being rejected.   To make a long story short, after reviewing the issue extensively with the client's technical department, our conclusion was that the problem was the result of the FTP sending in "active" mode instead of "passive".  We confirmed this by installing a freeware FileZilla on the same server, and switching between active and passive modes (active failed, passive did not).

Their tech people recommended that we contact SAP to get answers to two questions, which I'm hoping someone out there may know:

1)  How does Business Objects Enterprise 11.5 execute the FTP process?  Is it using its own native logic or simply invoking the command line?

2)  Is there any setting with the console that would enable us to modify the FTP settings to send force it to send in passive mode?

Thanks.

user_name is null in Audit_event table

Hello,

Environment: SAP BI4.0 SP2 (Linux)

Auditing type: Complete

In our environment we have noticed a very large number of events with user_name as null. These events are growing daily and consuming all the DB space.

I have checked service_type_name (from ads_service_type_str table) for those client_type_id (from ADS_EVENT table) and found the below details

Web Intelligence Processing Service

Job Server

Logon without Client ID

Central Management Service

Central Configuration Manager

CMC

BI launch pad

Open Document

Live Office

I couldn't find anything related to this (user_name as null) over net or forums. Please let me know If someone has any idea on the probably reason.

Thanks

Webi Report 4.0 migration to 4.1

$

Hello experts,

I have a question on migrating BOBJ webi reports from 4.0 to 4.1 environment.

We have SAP BW 7.0 and BOBJ 4.0 and now we are implementing SAP Hana that is BW 7.4 and BOBJ 4.1 version

we have about 70 webi reports built in 4.0 version based on BICS connection i.e BEx as a source and I like to migrate these webi reports into new 4.1 environment.

Our first step is to move 4.0 reports into 4.1 which will still be connected to BW7.0 legacy system as we are not done with Hana implementation and BW migration yet but like to proceed with front end first so users can start using 4.1 environment.

My concern is that if I move 4.0 reports to 4.1 which will be connected to BW7.0 for some time before we finally migrate BW 7.0 to 7.4, do I need to migrate the BICS connection already created in BOBJ4.0 to BW7.0, if Yes, will that BICS connection still work with 4.1 to 7.0.

Also later on down the road when we are done with migrating BW7.0 to 7.4, do we have to create a new BICS connection pointing to BEx queries in the new environment that is BOBJ4.1 to BW7.4.

Our Current Environment is BOBJ4.0----------->BW7.0

Our Temporary  Environment will be BOBJ 4.1------------> BW 7.0

Final Environment will be ----------------> BOBJ 4.1 to BW7.4

I like to know what are the best practices do I need to follow to achieve these tasks and how would my connection work or behave in these Environments if I use the same connection fro 4.1 to 7.4 environment.

Connection Server 32 goes in starting and staye like that

We are on BI4 SP4 Patch5 on windows based  environment. We have clustered environment with 4 nodes and each node has connection server 32 running on it. We have some webis most of them run in the morning are based on Universe ( UNV )using connection server 32 to get get from BW. IT has been observerd that either one , two or all 4 connection server goes in starting mode and they never come in running state, hence all reporting fail and we need to forcefully turn them off and then re-run them. It has been very difficult to satisfy business. It seems when few webis start around same time, thne connection server cannot bear the load and fails and then seems try to restart itself and never able to do so. Since most of our reporitng are based on UNV so they use connection server 32. Please help us to resolve this issue as this has become main issue and is on top of the list as far as performance and reliability is concerned.

Hi,

Is there any way to schedule a publication to multiple file system directories at the same time?  When I use the "File System" destination option, it only allows for one directory. I'd like to be able to publish to multiple directories without having to create multiple publications or editing one's destination over and over again.

Hi,

I am looking for some information of BOBI upgrade.

We are using BI 4.0 SP4 (14.0.4.738), and we are planning to upgrade newest version of BI (probably 4.1 SP4).

I am wondering if I can do update directly 4.1 SP4? or I need to do two steps. 1st, update 4.1 SP2 and 4.1 SP4?

Give me your advice.

Regards.
