Contents in Favorite folder been deleted

HI Experts,

 

We just had this weird issue this weekend that all the contents from the User's favorite folder got deleted, even the scheduled reports, instances, user BI Inbox reports. We checked the logs for the weekend and found out:

 

LDAP LOG.PNG

 

 

This basically says that the reload fetched 0 users and groups. Is there a chance that because of this failed to update the user and group from the LDAP server and lost the mapping with the user id, caused favorites folder content to be deleted? Please anybody has any insight with it, do share it with me.

Refresh data from file system

Hi,

 

i have created WEBI report with data from Excel.

That Excel document is located at our file system in map called reports. Path used in WEBI is \\file_system_name\reports\excel_document.

When I'm opening that WEBI report in WEBI client i dont have any problems with refreshing data, but when I publish report at BI platform it can't be refreshed.

Error im reciving is:

You do not have the right to access data returned by this universe. (Error: INF )

And in logs theres

<ERROR COMPONENT="WIS" ERRORCODE="504" ERRORTYPE="USER" MESSAGE="You do not have the right to access data returned by this universe." PREFIX="ERR">

 

my question is how to set security so BI platform can reach data from our file system.

Default users accounts consumes aditional licences?

Hello everybody,

 

I want to know if the default user account (Administrator, Guest, SMAdmin and QaaWSServletPrincipal) consumes license from my package? I mean, if my license agreement is for 20 named users, because of the default accounts I can just create 16 more named users??? so, If I need to have 20 users I will have to delete the default accounts?

BI Launchpad not working!

Hi All

 

The link for the BI Launchpad is not working. When I put the link on the address bar of the IE browser it says page cannot be found' . The client tools are also not getting connected to the server. Also, similar error is there in for logging in CMC

 

What could be he issue here?

How often should a BI 4.x environment be restarted

Hi Everyone,

 

Could you plz help me understand how often should a BI 4.x environment be restarted and based on what factors?

 

Is it good to restart daily, once a week..??

 

We are seeing some issues with scheduling jobs going into running state and getting hung. So I am trying to find a frequency of how often should I keep restarting my environment to ensure they jobs run fine.  Please help!!

 

Environment details:

BI Version: 4.1 SP5

Windows 2012 R2

Expansion vs Node Addition

Hi,

 

We have following use case

> Currently we are on single node , BI 4.1 SP4

> Need to move to cluster and BI 4.1 Sp6

> FIle store size 3.5 TB ( we are having short time to clean the content , as old system is having lot of issues )

 

Thinking of following sequence , please provide me more inputs around it 

 

New Cluster > 2 Application nodes -tomcat

                       2 Intelligent nodes  -

                      2 Porcessing nodes

 

Installation: 1. Installing node 3 - BI SP4

                    2. Installing Node1 - Tomcat 7

                    3. Migrating the content from old system

                    4. Updating Node with BI SP6

                    5. expanding the installation  for node 4,5,6

                    6. installing tomcat on node 2

                    7. Clustering and configurations

 

For #5  what do you suggest , just prep the nodes and install expand mode and add to cluster or separately install BO on each node and add to the cluster

 

Any inputs will be really appreciated

Hi

 

I am getting this error when i perform the below steps in the WEBI

 

My version is 4.1 SP5 Patch 3

 

After connecting to the universe in WEBI I am able to include anything in Result Object the query runs fine but as soon as I enter Version in the query filter i get this errorr.

 

Let me know the solution if someone has already seen this issue.

APS services not utilizing full memory

Hi  Team,


In one of the environment environment, we have allocated Maximum Memory AllocationPool -Xmx10g for  APS- DSL services and -Xmx2g for APS data access services . When we check the metrics value in the respective BOE services,it displays that 491.MB only. But the metrics vaues are matching for all other BOE services in the same node. We are having this issue with only one node in the cluster. We have also tried to recreate the affected services and cloned from the working one however there is no change in the memory and it is still shows 491 MB

 

could you please kindly suggest the possible causes for this issue

Installtion Server Side Design Studio PlugIn fails

Environment: Windows 2012R2

MS SQL 11.0.3393

SAB BI 4.2 SP2 Patch 1 (14.2.2.2018)

Design Studio (serverside): 16.1.2.716

Hello,

I have a problem with the installation of the Design Studio PlugIn for SAP BI 4.2. First I had all running under the version 4.1.6 with Design Studio 1.5. I upgraded my system to 4.2 and than I wanted to update also Design Studio, but the installation failed with an "Internal Error detected. Program will exit".

Afterwards starting from the Control Panel I tried to "Modify Installation for the package, but the installation script ran always in the same error. I can't even uninstall it.

So I tried another way round:

First I uninstalled the Version 1.5 from the system and AFTER I installed the version 4.2 (+ SP2 + Patch 1).

But installing newly the DS 1.6 I ran newly in the same error. Anyone had the same error or knows a solution? Thanks in advance!

Failed: Operating system patch level when installing Crystal Server 2013

Getting an error when installing Crystal Server 2013 on Red Hat Linux. During the prerequisites checking, it fails at the operating system patch level and says it should be higher than RedHat 5, but we are at RedHat 7 (screenshot below)

 

I have tried searching the issue but did not have any luck finding anything similar.

Security - Access is denied in IDT

Hi,

 

am hoping someone can help.  We have had an SAP Consultant come in and set up a new security policy.  We have profiles for Developer, Delegated Admin, Analyst etc.

 

I have users in the developer group and they have access to the IDT and UDT, as well as data access connectivity - all via the ACL

 

However, when they go to create a new session in IDT, they get Failed to log on host xxxx user xxxx Access is denied.  Admin can get in fine, and I don't see anything missing between the included rights for full control and that of the developer.

 

Can someone show me what is missing please?

Publications going into running state and they never get into completed state

Hello Everyone,

 

We are seeing this issue of publications going into running state on every Thursday and they never finish. A little background on the environment we have.

 

Version : BO 4.1 SP5

Environment: Production

Issue recurs: Every Thursday ( This has been observed that on every Thursday this issue kicks off)

type of reports: crystal reports that would run for every 1min and 5 mins from 8 am to 8pm(as its trading sector, these are intraday reports which kick off and complete within seconds).

 

Analysis performed:

1. Checked the number of jobs scheduled and running on Thursday vs other week days. (the count is pretty much the same)

2. The services (ajs, aps.publishing, crystal processing) infact no service shows up in any other state. they run perfectly at the time of issue.

3. Resource utilization is also fine, we have 32GB of RAM on all the servers and we pull a weekly report which shows utilization and there are no spikes above 40% utilization of both cpu and ram. so we are good here.

4.  Already have two Adaptive job services running on two different nodes, thought of creating another AJS which makes a total of three. But I read that this would not make any different as AJS alone would just trigger child processes for different types of reports (webi, crystal).

5. Observed that maximum concurrent jobs allowed setting to crystal reports  2013 is 40 on each node and for publications its 20. Whenever we see this issue, these jobs kicks off everyminute and they just go into running state. At this time, we see this limit is almost approached to peak.

 

Just the SIA restart on processing nodes is helping to resolve this issue every week but as this is production , am putting manual effort to clear all the running instances(around 50) and then had to restart services every Thursday.

 

Please help if you have also encountered any such issues. Being on the latest patch 4.1 sp 5 , I would not wait this to be fixed in higher patches. so clueless at this point.

folding of data in simple break collapses to nothing at top level

I learned the folding technique on breaks a couple of weeks ago, and used it to good effect. Now I am trying to do it again, but running into what appears weird to me . . . the top item in the break, when it folds, it collapses the entire thing !

Folding error 1 shows collapsing for all but the top item - looks good.

Folding error 2 shows the entire thing disappears when I then collapse the top item in the break !!!! ??? mad.gif Also, when I then try to un-fold it, it doesn't do anything, I have to "un-do" my last actions to get the data back.

Folding error 3 shows a completely collapsed break that worked great. I was able to repeat the issue so it's consistent but not what I'm expecting.

Crystal Reports Server XI Installation Issue

Hi,

 

I am busy installing Crystal Reports Server XI running on a Windows 7 64 bit unit. The installation progresses very well until it gets to a point where it just seems to stop and it never goes beyond that point. It just does the following and it has been standing there for hours.

 

"Time remaining: 4 minutes".

What I've tried so far :
1.) Restarting and trying the installation again.
2.) I've checked the application and system logs, but no information is available as to why this issue might be occurring.
3.) Disabled anti-virus

4.) Ran the Setup.exe as administrator.

 

Any idea on how I can get it to complete the installation ?

 

[EDIT] I found some sort of log file but I don't know if it will be of use.  It had a line with an error code within it :

How to configure Tomcat TLS protocols for BusinessObjects

Hi,

 

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. My goal is to enable TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 protocols for use with the BO launchpad.

 

BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 SP5 patch 3 on Tomcat 7.0.55 (installed with BusinessObjects).

 

With the configuration below it works, but the certificate information in Chrome says it connected with the TLS 1.0 protocol and it looks like this is the only protocol that works in this configuration.

When I remove the TLSv1 from sslEnabledProtocols it gives the error ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH in Chrome or This page can't be displayed - Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in Advanced settings and try connecting to again. TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 is enabled ofcourse.

 

So it might be the ciphers that are not correct, but I'm not sure what would/could be wrong with them. Extensive googling leaves me going round in circles. I tried changing the sslProtocol to use TLSv1.2 and different combinations of ciphers that I got from different sites, but no luck.

BI4.1 SP07 installation failure.. Linux (There is insufficient memory for the Java Runtime Environment)

Hello All,

I am trying to install BI4.1 SP07 and it failed at the 100% point (Uncaching Deployment Units..) during the installation process.

 

Some info:

- Its VM with no other applications

- OS: RH Linux 2.6.32-358.el6.x86_64 x86_64

- Memory: 32 GB

- Using Oracle DB for CMS and audit

- Using bundled Tomcat

- All the prerequisites were met

- Did the Full installation

 

The first error file (in ../InstallData/logs/) had this..

There is insufficient memory for the Java Runtime Environment to continue.

# Cannot create GC thread. Out of system resources.

# Possible reasons:

#   The system is out of physical RAM or swap space

#   In 32 bit mode, the process size limit was hit

# Possible solutions:

#   Reduce memory load on the system

#   Increase physical memory or swap space

#   Check if swap backing store is full

#   Use 64 bit Java on a 64 bit OS

#   Decrease Java heap size (-Xmx/-Xms)

#   Decrease number of Java threads

#   Decrease Java thread stack sizes (-Xss)

A quick memory check got me this...

Try to uninstall BI4.1 (in Linux)? How can I manage the memory?

Corba communication error

Hi experts,

 

I'm facing some errors in communication between processes:

 

I have one instance with one CMS server and five Webi processing servers. The auditing process scans all five webi servers to ask for events, it scan successfully 4 of 5 servers.

The other one scan throws an error:

It's very strange only one server throws error. Any idea how I can trace or get a log of corba calls?

Reports in Inbox and Fav folder

We have around 500 user's who have left the organization and before deleting the account, we would like to check on the no of reports in their Inbox and Favorite folder.

 

Could you please help if there is a way to find out no of reports in Inbox and Fav folder of the user's.

HTTP Status 404 - /BOE/BI error while opening SAP BO BI Launchpad after installing GALIGEO software

Hello Experts,

 

I have installed Galigeo to implement maps in webi reports, I have done as per the installation guide which is attached. Now I cannot access

both CMC and BI Launchpad. I am getting HTTP Status 404 - /BOE/BI. Please help. SAP BO 4.1 SP 1 Edge series..
