ReportApplicationServer stuck in initalizing

Hi

we are using Business Objects XI R3 Sp7 on 2 Webservers (tomcat) 2 DB servers (sql servers clustered) and 3 app servers.

Since last weekend i have the issue that me ReportApplicationservers are not coming up and therefore i can't install any reports anymore.

I can logon to CMC and Info view, i can run reports, so no problem there.

 

The RAS is stuck either stuck on initializing or it is shown as running/disable, where i can't enable it.

 

My problem is that i am i a corporate environment, where i don't have real inisght what is going on my servers.

 

Maybe someone can give me a hint where to look for? ( i will open up an incident  tomorrow, when back in the office)

Migrating from BOBJ Edge4.1/SQL to BOBJ Edge 4.1/Sybase

Hello

 

 

I have a machine with BOBJ Edge 4.1 with ms SQL server with the CMS and Auditing DB. I have another machine clean install with the latest Edge 4.1 SP07 that does not use MS SQL server CMS and Auditing DB but Sybase SQL Anywhere

 

Before, i just copied the filestore directory and CMS and Auditing DB to migrate to the new machine. I tried to upgrade tool but it does let me because the are both 4.1. Promotion Management takes to long.

 

 

Any suggestions or idea ?

Crystal Reports 2013 compatibility

What is the latest version of crystal report designer compatible for our platform version?

is it 2013 or 2016??

What components are needed to install Crystal?  Is it just crystal reports designer for desktop?

Clients tools and https configuration

Hello everyone,

 

I've finished the https configuration in a Windows server with BI 4.1 SP 6, teh connection to BIlaunchPAd and the CMC is ok and no problem with the generation of the certificat. However at the moment of the configuration fo the clients tools, something is wrong. I run the comman sslconfig from the client machine and I exported the certificats and all the files from the BO server, but the command doesn't do nothing.

so, when i try to connect to IDT designer, i still have the same response :

 

[repo_proxy 13] SessionFacade::openSessionLogon with user info has failed(Transport error: Insufficient resources.(FWM 00002)

(hr=#0x80042a01)

 

 

i already tried in a different client machine, and is always the same issue. the command sslconfig doens't read the certificate.

Status of information spaces, Dashboards and universes after updation from BO 4.0 to 4.1

Hi Gurus,

 

As we are planning updation from BO 4.0 to BO 4.1.

I have a question regarding my sap dashboards, information spaces, universes built in IDT and published to repository.


1) Dashboards created on BO 4.0 and deployed on BI launchpad 4.0, are these dashboards remain available on BI launchpad after updation to 4.1 or do I have to deploy these dashboards again on BI launchpad 4.1.


2) Do I will need to publish my universes again to the repository after updation to BO 4.1.


3) Information spaces that I have created on BO 4.0 that are these information spaces remain available after updation

to 4.1 or do I have to create these exploration views and information spaces again on 4.1.

 

 

If anyone has updated recently kindly guide on these issues and provide your valuable input.

Auditing Scheduled Reports and the Prompts used

Hello everyone,

 

I'd really appreciate any help you can provide regarding using the audit universe to review scheduled reports and the prompts they're running against.

 

So far we've created a report using the audit universe which returns data on all our scheduled reports (both successes and failures). However, in order to add extra insight we need to know which prompts these failed reports are running against. All our attempts to add this information so far haven't worked.

 

Does anyone know if this is possible and if so what needs to be included in the query and report?

 

We're currently running BO 4.1 SP5.

Hi All,

 

We are planning to migrate from BOXI R3.1 to BI 4.0. I have heard that extension of Universe in BI 4.0 is .unx. Following are my question realted:

 

1- Which tool needs to be used to migrate Universe and reports from BOXI R3.1 to BI 4.0? Will it be Import Wizard?

2- If the extension of the Universe will change from .unv to .unx than all the webi reports will get manually pointed to this .unx Universe?

3- If it will not get manually pointed to .unx than do we need to manually repoint all the reports to .unx?

 

Please help me with the above answers.

Installtion Server Side Design Studio PlugIn fails

Environment: Windows 2012R2

MS SQL 11.0.3393

SAB BI 4.2 SP2 Patch 1 (14.2.2.2018)

Design Studio (serverside): 16.1.2.716

Hello,

I have a problem with the installation of the Design Studio PlugIn for SAP BI 4.2. First I had all running under the version 4.1.6 with Design Studio 1.5. I upgraded my system to 4.2 and than I wanted to update also Design Studio, but the installation failed with an "Internal Error detected. Program will exit".

Afterwards starting from the Control Panel I tried to "Modify Installation for the package, but the installation script ran always in the same error. I can't even uninstall it.

So I tried another way round:

First I uninstalled the Version 1.5 from the system and AFTER I installed the version 4.2 (+ SP2 + Patch 1).

But installing newly the DS 1.6 I ran newly in the same error. Anyone had the same error or knows a solution? Thanks in advance!

[CMC] Issue on OLAP Connection folder

Dear All,

When I'm trying to transport Olap Connection folder from Dev to QA using Promotion Management log I get the error :

 


Could not commit object 'TEST' connection folder because another object with the same name and type already exist under 'Connection'.

 


On Cmc I don't see Olap Connection folder called 'TEST'. probably during the last delete of TEST Olap connection folder something went wrong.


How I can fix this issue ?

Is it possible to delete the Olap connection folder from AdminTools ?

Unable to see data in webi report using live office

Hi,

 

I am new to dashboards and I was trying to import webi report in live office to be used in dashboard.

When I select the report and import it only the table headers appear in live office and I am unable to see any data.

 

I dont know if I am missing any step.

folding of data in simple break collapses to nothing at top level

I learned the folding technique on breaks a couple of weeks ago, and used it to good effect. Now I am trying to do it again, but running into what appears weird to me . . . the top item in the break, when it folds, it collapses the entire thing !

Folding error 1 shows collapsing for all but the top item - looks good.

Folding error 2 shows the entire thing disappears when I then collapse the top item in the break !!!! ??? mad.gif Also, when I then try to un-fold it, it doesn't do anything, I have to "un-do" my last actions to get the data back.

Folding error 3 shows a completely collapsed break that worked great. I was able to repeat the issue so it's consistent but not what I'm expecting.

SSO is not working for one user in BO 4.1 SP6

Recently I have implemented Windows AD authentication in our project and its working fine for all users except one user .

Even KINIT is working fine for him but during SSO login it throws error:

 

"This page can't be displayed "

Design Studio 1.5 report not displaying (not opening) from BI launchpad

Hello,

 

Design Studio is not opening from BI launchpad, (Cursor keep on moving finally session get expired nothing is showing others like WEBI are working). While i am able to create and save reports to BIP platform and able to test it locally.

Can you please tell how to fix this issue.

currently i am at BI 4.1 SP 4 Patch 1, Design Studio 1.5 newly installed.

 

Note : Here client has splited APS into  many APS (for ex- one for WEBI, one for OLAP etc) for better performance suggested by SAP earlier. kindly give steps how to do.

How often should a BI 4.x environment be restarted

Hi Everyone,

 

Could you plz help me understand how often should a BI 4.x environment be restarted and based on what factors?

 

Is it good to restart daily, once a week..??

 

We are seeing some issues with scheduling jobs going into running state and getting hung. So I am trying to find a frequency of how often should I keep restarting my environment to ensure they jobs run fine.  Please help!!

 

Environment details:

BI Version: 4.1 SP5

Windows 2012 R2

Dashboard related services are pinefficient

BOE version: 4.1 sp2

BOE server OS: win server 2008 enterprise r2 sp1

cpu: 2.6GHz * 8 (logic cores)

RAM: 16G

 

It is our development system，which means only a few（actually onle 1，sometimes 2） developer use it

The problem is the average processing time of the Dashboard processing server and the Dashboard cache server is consistently high

 

I have optimized the xmx parameter of the two servers and the

 

but none of these works

 

is there anything else i can do？

 

BTW，the min processing time is normal，now is 300 msec

Duplicates documents scheduled are sent by email

Hi everyone,

 

I have an scheduled document wich send to some users, some of them are bi users but the other are send by email. the problem is that document sent to email user are duplicated. example:

 

SEND TO: biuser1, biuser2, biuser3, user@mail.com

 

to user@mail.com the document will send three times

Hello All,

 

We are currently on 4.1 SP06 patch level and we want to upgrade our system for new functionality and bug fixes. I can see 4.2 is also released with SP01 and SP02 service patches. Can anyone help me which one is more stable? is it 4.2 SP01 or 4.2 SP02 ?

How to delete this SIA - Can not remove

Hi I can't delete the below server. the middle row, how can I delete it?  Obviously I already tried to use the delete 'X' on the top of the CCM box that you are suspposed to use

When I try to delete it, I see this.  Is there some place in the registry I can delete it?  Is there a place in the CMS?  I realize I can blow up everything and do it again but thats not an option right now, so please do not give that as my option.

USER CANNOT RETRIEVED PUBLISHED UNIVERSE FROM REPOSITORY

I have granted user access to retrieve universe from repository using IDT,

User was able to login to IDT but can not retrieved the universe. see below

He can click on the universe but can not click next.

Any solution

Clustering two CMS and two Tomcat Servers

Server Configuration:

Tomcat Web App Server A

BI 4 Platform Server A

 

Tomcat Web App Server B

BI 4 Platform Server B

 

BI 4.1 SP7

Windows Server 2012

 

They are in a clustered environment. Therefore they use the same CMS database. I would like to know how to cluster the Tomcat Web App Servers A and B. How does clustering in Tomcat work? Is that using a single URL, so that it Tomcat Web App Server A fails, Tomcat Web App Server B automatically picks up the session, and user does not even know Tomcat Web App Server A is down? How can I set it up this way?

 

I have done the steps in this link: Configuring the Application Server Cluster - Business Intelligence (BusinessObjects) - SCN Wiki but I don't know if it even works or how to test it. Is this all I need to do in setting up a Tomcat cluster?

 

I have seen Load Balancer mentioned on the forums that I see regarding Tomcat cluster but I don't know which load balancer I should use for my clustered environment.
