BO migration from BO XI R2 SP1 to BI 4.1

We are planning to migrate from BO XI R2 SP1 to 4.1

 

I have few questions:

1) As SAP insists, migration to higher version should be from SP2 or higher.

But in market place, I did not find BO Xi r2 SP2 & SP3. So do I need to raise SAP incident for the same?

 

2) Some experience people, also say that direct migration from XI r2 SP2 to 4.1 is not advisable though SAP insists.

   We need to migrate to 3.1 and then to 4.1

So it will be 2 step migration.

i.e. xi r2 SP1 --------------> xi r2 SP2--------------> xi r3.1 -------------> 4.1

 

3) Please guide if someone have other way to tackle this.

4.2 Promotion management error

Experts,

 

We just upgraded business objects to 4.2 Sp2, when we try to promote objects from one environment to other by creating new promotion job and click on "manage dependencies" its giving attached error.

Data Source Name in the MS SQL Server 2008 Connection

In my Information Design tool version 4.2 , when i try to create ODBC connection, i have one "Data Source Name" field instead of the tow, "Server" field and "Database" field.

when i put the server name in the "Data Source Name" and test the connection is connects successfully.

 

Is there any special format to be used here to put the server name and database name combo in the one field?  like (ServerName/DatabaseName)  or (Servername:DatabaseName) or etc...

Migrating from BOBJ Edge4.1/SQL to BOBJ Edge 4.1/Sybase

Hello

 

 

I have a machine with BOBJ Edge 4.1 with ms SQL server with the CMS and Auditing DB. I have another machine clean install with the latest Edge 4.1 SP07 that does not use MS SQL server CMS and Auditing DB but Sybase SQL Anywhere

 

Before, i just copied the filestore directory and CMS and Auditing DB to migrate to the new machine. I tried to upgrade tool but it does let me because the are both 4.1. Promotion Management takes to long.

 

 

Any suggestions or idea ?

Crystal Reports 2008 Server, CMC log in slows over time

We have Crystal Reports Server 2008.  This is the second time I have dealt with this issue and I have no idea how to resolve this or what causes it.  Over time, logging into the CMC web console gets slower and slower.  Same thing when opening the crystal reports 2008 client tool, logging into the "enterprise" server (our server), then once I expand the enterprise tree, it take almost ten minutes for our reports to show up.  Same thing with the CMC log in, it takes that long to log into the console.  Once open clicking on various things is a little slow too.  Even worse, if I go into the Infoview page, log in, once in I try to navigate publications, it's super slow.  Once a reports is open, the report runs fine.  Any scheduled reports seem to run just fine in the background however it's almost unusably slow when we try to log into the CMC over web UI or through the crystal client by logging into enterprise or using infoview looking for reports or publications.  The server operating system is windows 2008 and the default install was chosen with MySQL.  The server OS performance is fine, all resources are showing a low utilization percentage.

 

In the past, I fixed this simply by reinstalling the whole server, manually re-uploading reports and recreating publications and schedules.  I really don't want to do this again.  There must be an explanation to this behavior and a way to resolve.

 

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Where to find Crystal Server special development licenses

If I have a Crystal Server and a maintenance contract where do I go to request my development server "sandbox" licenses. Is it the same place as the regular 5 CAL? Does it count against the 5 user total?

BI4.1 Installation Error with DB2 10.5

Hi,

I'm installing SBO BI 4.1 SP06 on Suse Linux 11 SP4 & DB2 10.5 FP6 using non-root id.

 

The issue is : On CMS repository configuration screen, I'm getting the following error msg : "Database access error. Reason Loading shared object failed. First tried to load library db2 and failed because of error: Second tried to load library libdb2.so and failed because of error: . (FWB 00090)"

 

Pls note, I've created 3 databases separately under one DB instance, using DB2 data studio, and all these repositories (i.e BI, CMS & Audit) reside on the same server.

 

Appreciate any hints. Thx

CRS 300021 - What's the missing authorization object?

Hi all,


when a user is trying to schedule a crystal reports with the target output type 'E-Mail' within the BI launch PAD (4.1 SP6). The user get's the error message: 'User does not have right to download document and only has rights to schedule to the default enterprise location and inbox destinations. (CRS 300021)'. Does anybody knows what authorization object is here required? Is there a possibility to make something like an authorization trace in order to find the missing authorization?

Auditing events not written

Hi experts,

 

I have a cluster application with 4 nodes.

 

My system auditing is not working well, from the cms traces what I saw was:

 

The auditor checks for events to be written for DB in some servers but suddently appears to crash:

 

From one node:

And then no more servers are checked on this node leading that the events of the remaining servers being kept in files.


This happens with all 4 nodes.


In my Development and UAT environments the process runs well, all the servers are checked and all events are written.

Windows AD/SSO not working in BI 4.1 SP 06, kinit works!!

Hello to everybody,

 

I am trying to make the configuration AD/SSO for a BI 4.1 SP06, I did not have any problem genereting the ticket, kinit works. However, once I added the options in TOMCAT, the manual authentification does not  work, when i try the manual authentification ()

 

I receive the next message from the BI launch Pad:

btw... the client told me about the protocol NTLM (they are not quite happy with kerberos) and they don't work with this protocol. I have to questions, there is a procedure to make the configfuration AD/SSO with NTLM instead of kerberos?, and there is a ppossibility that the client dones not have the right kdc configuration?

BI Platform Connections Fail in Distributed Environment

Hey Folks,

Looking to see if anyone else has experienced this. We have our Development BOBJ system split out according to processing and web tiers:

 

Server1 - Processing tier (SIA and CMC are here)

Server2 - Web Tier - Tomcat is here.

 

We are using the Design Studio and when attempting to build a connection to our backend BOBJ system. However, unlike say Analysis Office, we do not have a spot to specific a system string (system1:6401). As a result, the connection from design studio fails as it attempts to find the CMC on the web tier (system2:6400). Since the design studio only allows you to build HANA connections manually and store them, we're a bit stuck as to how to make this work.

 

Has  anyone solved this before? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

How to add SQL Server connection?

Hell all,

I am new to BI Platform.. I have  the 4.2 installed (last week I installed it).

when I go to ODBC Data Source Administrator, I was able to add an SQL Server Connection there... what is my next step in the CMC to have this connection show up?  

if I go to connection in my CMC, it only allows me to add folders, and when I go to Universes, same thing it lets me add folders only!.

 

Any help please?

AADMining.bin

We have a BOXI 3.1 SP7.

 

I'm looking for some info about the AADMining.bin process.

 

We had some problems and we must restart backend and appservers. After the restart, the AADMining.bin appears stopped, but the behaviour seems ok.

 

So... I don´t know whats the aim of this process.

 

Any idea?

Error code:0 [CRWEB00000119]

I am trying to run reports against a TEST server which has a backup of the LIVE db but keep getting the same error; The viewer could not process an event. The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect.Error code:0 CRWEB00000119 The report was built and working fine in Crystal, the SQL account is working/verified and new/existing reports work perfectly on the LIVE server/db. I have seen a post on here for the same error but different circumstances. I still can't get past it thought and I am pretty sure this is something simple I haven't done but at this stage I have tested/checked everything I can think of so looking for some help with the issue. CMC login issue after new node added....

Hi,

 

We are on SAP BI 4.1 SP6 On Win2008 R2 server on SQL Anywhere.

 

I have a BI 4.1 already installed on server1 and I open the CMC using the below link -

 

http://server1.abc.com:8080/BOE/CMC

 

I have build another standalone node on server2 and I open the CMC using below link

 

http://server1.abc.com:8080/BOE/CMC

 

Now I have added the node on server2 to CMS running on server1. It is added successfully. I have disable the SIA on server2, I logged on to the link "http://server1.abc.com:8080/BOE/CMC" and I can see the new node added under CMC - Servers - Node.

The issue is that when I open the CMC link for server2 http://server2.abc.com:8080/BOE/CMC then it gives following error -

 

"Account information not recognized: All the servers with CMS server2:6400, cluster @server2:6400, kind cms which host service null, are down or disabled" I was assuming that it will open the link.

 

I also want to state that the launchpad link on server2 "http://server1.abc.com:8080/BOE/BI" has no issue and it is opening and working fine. Is it normal behaviour?

 

Please advice.

Hi Everybody ,

 

System features

 

Windows Server 2008 R2 64

24 Gb Ram

4 Processors

 

Business Objects 4.1 Service Pack 4 patch 1

 

 

Web Intelligence Reports which scheduled , stuck in running state generally . For example I scheduled a report hourly or 2 hours , Some hours but not specified ,report is stuck in running state . it doesnt complete.

 

What can I do about this issue ? Could you help me please ?

biar backup strategy

Hi All,

 

We are migrating contents from BOXIR2  to BO 4.0 environment.

Our 4.0 is a 3 tier environment (DEV, Quality and Production) and currently the BOXIR2 contents are already moved to 4.0 quality

 

Before moving the BOXIR2 contents from 4.0 quality to 4.0 PROD, we want to take a full LCMBIAR backup of the contents from 4.0 PROD.

 

This is part of precautionary measure so that if anything gets missed in 4.0 PROD ,after moving XIR2 contents to4.0 PROD, we will utilise the BIAR backup to recover.

We plan to take a  copy of reports in  public folder  in BO4.0 PROD itself

For Favourite folder reports, we will take LCMBIAR backup using promotion management.

Is their a beter approach than the one mentioned above?

 

On behalf of this approach, we have following query

-- While taking BIAR backup for favourite folder reports,is it possible to select only the reports and not their dependencies?

     Ie, We donot want the BIAR file to contain universe, connections ,folders etc..

Promotion Manager "Automation" or really Self-service

We have been tasked with creating a process whereby users can migrate their own universes and reports through our environment structure.  The only real requirement that we have at this point is that the users should not use the CMC to access Promotion Management to perform the migrations.

 

In pursuit of this objective we are attempting to obtain information on this process.  I have the following questions:

1. Has any one attempted to put together something like this?

2. What interface did you use with Business Objects? i.e. .NET SDK, java SDK, WebService, RESTful Webservice

3. What challenges did you run into?

 

We are presently exploring using a script that utilizes the command line tool lcm_cli.bat, but it has some limitations.

 

Any ideas would be appreciated.

 

The basis for this work is to free up our Administrator's time from doing object promotions and focus on making out system run more efficiently by having a utility to allow users to promote their own content.

Hello Friends

What is the best SAP application to use to show a real time dashboard or a report or a table on a screen that accomplish the below scenario?

For example, the front desk employee put into the database a list of drivers and update the status of each driver consistently like “available driver waiting for order” or “in rout driver”. And this data show up on a big screen in the warehouse that other employees use when they are on the phone with customers to estimate the delivery time.

Gerardo me proporciona una busqueda que me funciono pero estoy trantando 2 cosas

 

una que me pueda funcionar solo para ordenes de compra   IF ObjectType =22

que solo se ejecute para ordenes de compra pero no me funciona el if.

 

 

 

 

2. hacienda otra que sea para las ordenes de fabricación pero no puedo enlazar las ordenes de fabricacion
