relation between concurrent jobs and CMS established system BDD connections

Hello,

 

We have a BI 4.1 SP06 patch 1 platform with 12 concurrents jobs maximum.

CMS System Database Connections Requested is set to 50.

 

I created a watchlist to know when we reach 12 concurrents jobs.

I also created a watchlist to know how many CMS database connections are available (SERVER.CentralManagementServer$'Established System Database Connections' -  SERVER.CentralManagementServer$'Currently Used System Database Connections').

 

There is a thing which I don't really understand : each time I am receiving a danger alert concerning concurrent jobs (reaching 12), I am also receiving a danger alert about available database connections (less than 5 CMS BDD connections available).

 

Is there anyone who can help me to understand that ?

 

 

Moreover, during high utilization, we are reaching the max concurrent jobs and some of planned jobs are failing with this error :

"An internal error occured ... "processDPCommandsEx" API . (Error : ERR_WIS_30270)"


I am wondering if this error is linked to alert messages.

Trial of Crystal Server 2013, no default admin name provided?

Hello,

 

I just downloaded my trial of CS 2013 and was prompted to login but through the install there was no mention of a default admin name.  I can not login in making the trial useless.  I set a CS Admin password during the install, but could not locate the admin name. Does anyone know what the default administrator login is?  Thanks

Problem IN JCO between BW and BO

Hi all,

 

     I have an installation in which BW and BO are in the same machine. But when I create a JCO connection through Information design tool, it works fine for 2 or three refreshers and then it throws the following error: "An error occurred while trying to ping the server: The SAP BW server reported an RFC error: Erreur lors du rappel RFC : Failed to refresh repository reference @DF_DEST-17 2.16.1.3-BIUSER-0--0-100 cause"

 

And when I try the ping the machine it works fine. Can someone help me with that?

 

 

Here is my server configuration:

 

SAP BO : Business Objects Plateform BI 4.1 SP05 Patch9

SAP BW: 740 SP09

OS: Linux Suse

32 bit and 64 bit SAPCRYTPO DLLs on BI 4.1 for Crystal and WEBI reports scheduling

We currently have BOBJ 4.1 SP5 Patch 3 installed.

We have been using sapcrypto.dll 32 bit version for scheduling Crystal reports on the BI Platforms using SAP BW data sources.

 

We now need to be able to schedule WEBI reports using Universes(unv) on BW data sources.

I read on SAP marketplace that  WEBI reports need 64 bit sapcrypto.dll.

 

I also saw references to update the registry key for Crystal reports to work, when 64 bit dll is installed for WEBI.

When I check our system, I dont even see SAP BusinessObjects under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node

WINDOWS: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > SAP BusinessObjects > Suite XI 4.0 > SAP > SNC_LIB_32


Does this mean that we can have both the 32bit and 64 bit sapcrypto dlls on the same same server.

 

Does anyone have experience doing these. I don't want to jump in and do it and end up breaking the crystal reports that works perfectly fine now.

(We had lot of issues to get the crystal reports working :-), don't want to get into the vicious circle )

 

Any advise is appreciated. Thank you very much :-)

One user only cannot log on to Business Objects via Active Directory

We implemented Active Directory for Business Objects about a month ago, everything went smoothly. But there's one user who cannot log on to Business Objects. He can use AD to log on to several systems, e.g., Gmail, the ERP system for student information, and Blackboard. But just not BO.

 

We have tried everything to troubleshoot this, with no luck. He's changed passwords; I used his password as my own password; he tried on different machines. So it's something between BO and AD for this user only. I am waiting to hear from the network people, but wanted to post this in the interim.

 

Are there any logs in which we can see his attempted logins ?

 

Does BO actually store the users password for AD ?

 

Thoughts on how to troubleshoot this ?

Missing Page in CMC >> User Groups >> Customization

Hi All,

 

I'm trying to access CMC >> User Groups >> Customization to turn off Design Mode for users needing only view access in WEBI but I get the missing page error (attached screenshot). Can you please let me know how to fix this issue?

Question regarding Business Objects

Hi,

 


We used to create reports with microsoft Business Objects 5.0 which is no longer supported. Purpose is to show some basic reports depending on date range; retrieving from Oracle backend DB using sql queries. While searching for a similar reporting tool we found business objects edge version. My questions are:


1. Is business objects BI edge similar to the business objects 5.0 version? If not, can anyone please point me to a similar product?


2. While installation SAP Business Objects BI, Edge edition (trial version) I found different components like Server Part 1,Server Part 2, Server Part 3, Server Part 4, Client tools, .Net SDK Runtime, Crystal reports, BusinessObjects Explorer Windows etc. Do I need to install all these components?

What's the replacement for speedometer?

I used BOE 3.X before, and I have a dashboard that used speedometer in it. Now, after I upgrade to BI 4.1, the dashboard with speedometer shows that this version of BI workspaces does not support visualization modules(gauges and graphs). It seems the speedometer is not supported now, so I want to know what's the replacement for speedometer. Any suggestions?

BI 4.1 SSO options

Hi All,

 

1)Please confirm if the CMS is on linux OS and we need to configure SSO, then we would have to go for trusted authentication option.

2) Which method of trusted authentication is secured?

3) Can anyone please guide me on the steps to achieve trusted authentication on BI 4.1.

how Group Name should be setup in the message server of the Relational Connection

I need to know how the group name should be setup in the message server

of the Relational Connection.

 

Because when the Group Name was set to SPACE as I was told otherwise

this will not work. However, during my testing, I found that most

traffic will first be allocated to the db server and then traffic will

be directed to apps02 or apps01 after several processors are used in

db. No issue because load seems to be distributed.

 

I then change the GROUP_NAME to BI I was told before this may not

work. When I tried changing the Connection Group Name to BI. The connection

works, but the strange thing is loads are not getting distributed

evenly. All queries from different WEBI reports gets executed only on

apps02. I then re-launched all WEBI reports again and the second time

all queries were served by apps01 only.

 

Just wondering why only when SPACE is used the distribution of load

happens correctly.

 

Very strange right, it would be great if some one can provide me an

understanding of the difference between “SPACE” and “BI”.

Where to find BOBJ SID

Quick question for a newbie to Business Objects. Does BOBJ have and kind of SID like regular SAP NW systems do? I've looked around and don't see any used anywhere for configuration. We are moving to a hosted BOBJ solution with HEC. If you can point me in the right direction I'd be grateful. Thanks!

Report Conversion Tool in BI 4.1 SP2 not working from Client PCs

Hi All,

 

I am trying to convert some DeskI reports to WebI using report RCT 4.1 SP2. I'm converting the DekI reports in 4.1 direclty to WebI, so my source and destination is always going to be 4.1

I am able to select the reports to be converted and when I click on the "Next" button on the conversion wizard, the conversion window opens and there is no progress for hours. I'm able to use RCT in the server, but only on the users PC's we are facing it.

Complex WebI document takes a lot of time to VIEW

Hi Experts,

 

We have a 2-3 WebI reports which are taking a lot of time (3-4 mins ) to open (i.e when I right click then click VIEW)

 

Following are the observations uptil now :

1) Unchecked "Refresh On Open", but the WebI document is still taking 3-4 mins

2) Removed all the prompts in the WebI document, but it is still taking 3-4 mins

Above test confirms that LOVs are not playing any role here.

 

Kindly note that these WebI documents are having lots of variables (100+), lots of complex calculations. Is this something that is causing the issue ?

As far I understand, report variables & calculations come into picture once the data is fetched from the Reporting DB. So, opening of the WebI document should not be dependent on the complexity of the report level calculations. Please confirm if my understanding is correct ?

 

Backend DB is Oracle.

BI Launchpad Recently Exported Documets?

Hi All,

 

Is there any way to get my recently exported documents? i.e. I have exported some couple of Web Intelligence reports to PDF or Excel or other formats, those reports to be appeared in my recently exported documents. Similar to my recently viewed documents.

 

Please let me know, I have a requirement to get those documents.

[BI 4]SP05 or SP04 incl Patch 7

Strangely is saw that even though SP05 is already released for BI 4, there is still a new Patch (Patch 7) released for SP04.


What are the differences between both versions (SP05 and SP04 + Patch 7)?

 

 

Are there any fixed issues in Patch 7, that are not in SP05?

 

Can anyone clear this?

Alternative for setting Relative Positioning of Blocks

Hi All,

 

We are currently working on a requirement on WEBI reports where we have to show a monthly span of data till current month. After that, we need to create a single cell which shows a predictive forecast value for the month.

But the report has around 150+ Cross Tab lines, and we are aligning the forecast cell with respect to each line. When we format the alignment of cell, it populates a long list of lines which only auto-scrolls and no manual interaction is engaged. Due to which the lines falling after 50 or 100, the alignment of Forecast cell becomes too much rigorous and time consuming.

WEBI: Web-UI, (We are not using Rich client of WEBI)

Can anyone suggest a better way to achieve this.
