Remove Remote CMS Servers in SIA (BO 4.1 SP2)

Hi Experts

 

 

Business recently did a restore of the PROD environment database onto the QA environment database.

 

This caused QA server to show the PROD cluster key & the list the PROD server as a Remote CMS Server.

 

I managed to resolve the cluster key issue, but when you want to log onto the CCM to show the list of servers, it states that a "wrong connection is being made", as it wants to connect to the PROD server.

 

I need to remove the Remote CMS Servers from the Startup Tab.

 

I cannot log into the CMC to get the Node ID to delete it via the script as stated in the SAP notes.

 

Can anyone suggest a workaround?

Active Directory SSO to BI Platform and SAP BW

Dear all,

 

we use Microsoft Sharepoint as portal for our intranet services. In the future, we would like to integrate some of our BI-reports (e.g. Design Studio) into the portal, where users (management, controlling) can access them. The reports are saved on a BI Platform 4 SP04 P03 server and access data from a SAP BW via a BICS Connection. We will integrate the reports into the portal with the SAP Inegtration for Microsoft Sharepoint (IOMS),

 

To increase the user experience, we want wo archieve that the users don't have to login to the BO or BW system and can use a single-sign-on mechanism with their active directory account which they use for login to their computer/the windows domain.

 

Can you please give me an overview of the required configurations for this sso-setup? From what I have understood so far, first of all we have to setup active directory authentification and sso to the BI platform as described in the BI platform admin guide, section 9.4.

 

What will be the follwing steps and how do we authenticate to the BW system? Do we need to setup sso for SAP authentication and then link the user accounts from BW and AD in the BI platform with aliases? And/Or do we need STS (Security Token Services)? It is necessary that we are able to configure different rights for different users / usergroups in  SAP BW, so the solution should support this.

Input FRS: The document cannot be retrieved from the File Repository Server. (WIS 30951) (WIS 30951).. after domain change

Hello,

I have a BO 4.0 SP4 Linux installation (stand-alone machine) and recently the machine was moved to a different domain (say from machine1.eastcoast.net to machine1.westcoast.net).

Now I am not sure how to reconfigure the Input FRS to account for this change.

I get the "File Repository Server Input is down" message when I try to import any Universe and I get this "The document cannot be retrieved from the File Repository Server. (WIS 30951) (WIS 30951)" message when I try to open any report.

The server itself is up and running, and I can browse through the folders, and the BI Launch Pad works without any hiccups.

 

IFRS uses 6402 as its Request port and this port is open.

 

The IFRS's Metrics page shows this,

Desktop Intelligence Client (DCP) crashes after upgrading to 4.1 SP5 FP5

Dear all,

 

We have the following environment

 

Server Side

 

O/S: Windows 2012 R2

SAP BI Platform Version: 4.1 SP5 FP5

 

Client Side

 

O/S: Windows 7 x64 SP1

SAP BO XI Client Tools Version: 3.1 SP6 FP4

SAP BI Client Tools Version: 4.1 SP5 FP1

 

We have followed the instructions described in Desktop Intelligence Compatibility Pack (DCP): Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to utilize DCP feature (installation sequence etc). Ater we have updated BI Client Tools version to 4.1 SP5 FP5, we manage to connect via DeskI client but when we try to import a document from the repository we get the following error.

We have tried to:

 

1.) Delete lsi files from both

 

C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Business Objects\Business Objects 12.0\lsi

 

&

 

C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\lsi

 

2.) Delete registry keys from

 

HKEY-CURRENT-USER > Software > SAP BusinessObjects > Suite XI 4.0 > default > BusinessObjects > <User_Name> User Prefs

 

In all cases we received the same behavior and error as the one mentioned above. The only workaround that worked for us was to use the repo_proxy.dll (version 14.1.5.1533 ) provided with 4.1 SP5 FP1 client tools. This is a temporary solution and until we identify the root cause behind this incident.

 

Has anyone else met this issue before? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Crystal Reports for Enterprise

Can someone me on this in SAP Crystal Reports for Enterprise which define the following properties: “Save Data with Report”.  By default, this option is checked when creating a new report, I’m able to uncheck it on individual reports and save it.  However, my client wonders if this option can be unchecked by default.  Usually, for Java programs, these may come from a property file or configuration xml.

 

I need to know where exactly I need to change these settings. I am currently on SAP BusinessObjects Explorer 4.1 SP5 Patch 3 update on Linux.

SAP BO 3.1 to 4.1 Migration queries

I am working on BO 3.1 to 4.1 migration.I am using VDI for migration.Is it possible to have BO3.1 and 4.1 client tools in same desktop.After migration I need to compare it in both versions.is there any way to do the validation. your input is much appreciated.

Unable to export the WebI report into Excel or PDF

Hello Everyone,

 

I got an issue with a WebI report which is built on a BEx query. I am able to Refresh the WebI report and Schedule in WebI format. But, if I am trying to save as the report in Excel or PDF format the WebI Processing Server getting restart. Same while scheduling the report in Excel or PDF format. This is happening with a single report and this is an intermediate error i.e., sometimes, not able to export the report into Excel or PDF and someother times it is working.


SAP BOBIP 4.1 SP3 version with Tomcat Server.

Windows OS with standalone installation.


Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Authorisations Access Publication Log

Hi,

 

I need to be able to provide certain users access to the Publication Logs. That is, when a publication is run and we can see the result and it failed we are able to select a button to view the detailed log.

 

The user is recieving the error "This error occurred: The object with ID XXX does not exist in the CMS or you do not have the right to access it (FWM 02020)"

 

The user in actual fact has "Full Control" of the folder where the publication is held...can only administrators view a log for a publication??

Data Services heterogeneous copy

Hi,

 

We're planning an heterogeneous copy from Data Integration 11.7 on Windows/Oracle to Data Services 4.2 on Windows/SQLServer. We've readed on Best Practices for upgrading older Data Integrator or Data Services repositories to Data Services 4.2 - Enterprise Infor…  that it's possible to create a copy of actual repository on to local repository and thus, connect this to a Data Services for doing the jobs upgrade. (Option 3)

 

Can we create this new local repository pointing to a SQL Server instance? Any experience about this kind of migration?

DST Issue?

Environment: BI 4.1 SP06 patch 3

Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

Clustered environment with 2 CMS and 2 Web servers

SQL Server 2012

Webi reports

 

Issue: while creating a new schedule when we select the date parameters and apply the dates after clicking on apply the dates are getting changed.

 

Example: In one report I started creating new schedule and click on parameters and selected following dates as start and end date.

Start Date 11/01/2015 12:00:00 AM End Date 11/30/2015 12:00:00 AM

Once click on apply, the parameters show dates as below. (This is for server in CST timezone)

Start Date    10/31/2015 7:00:00 PM  End Date    11/29/2015 6:00:00 PM

And for servers in PST time zone the times are getting changed as below.

Start Date    10/31/2015 5:00:00 PM  End Date    11/29/2015 4:00:00 PM

 

Our Dev server is in CST time zone and TEST and PROD is in PST timezone.

 

I am wondering if its a DST related issue as the users started reporting this issue today only, tried rebooting the servers but didn't help.

 

Have raised an incident with SAP waiting for their response.

 

FYI, no issues with report refresh.

Deski Report with FHSQL

I know FHSQL are not migrated to the new environment, but is there a work around?

Multi AD Forrest configuration in SAP BO 4.1

Hi All,

 

We are facing issue where we have configured multiple AD  Forrest in our application.

 

Our base domain i.e. local domain group is working without issue where as second domain network group is getting corrupted every 30 min.

 

Error Prompted: Invalid group name, cannot find group

 

If we remap the group, it is working for another 30 min. Did anyone faced this issue in their system?

Patching BI 4.1 on Clustered Environment - Zero Downtime? Can you patch one server at a time?

Environment:

2 clustered app servers

2 web servers (tomcat from SAP BusinessObjects install)

1 SQL database server for CMS Repo & Auditing


Both app servers are essentially mirrors of each other (all running the same servers, CMS on both servers, etc).

 

I'm looking to patch the servers without any outage, if possible.

 

Can I:

 

1. If no users are on app server 1, stop the SIA on app server 1

    1.a Probably reboot app server 1 due to a suppressed reboot error

2. Patch app server 1 and wait until done

3. Then patch web server 1

    3.a Probably reboot web server 1 due to a suppressed reboot error

4. Start SIA on app server 1

 

5. Wait until users shift over from app server 2 to app server 1 (may be an hour, may be several, may be the next day)

 

6. Stop SIA on app server 2

    5.a Probably reboot app server 2 due to a suppressed reboot error

7. Patch app server 2 and wait until done

8. Patch web server 2

    8.a Probably reboot web server 2 due to a suppressed reboot error

9. Start SIA on app server 2

 

done!

 

I've reviewed the patch update guide but it appears that the only installation scenario they provide (section 4.3) is a parallel upgrade, which entails patching both app servers at the exact same time (after stopping all servers except for: 1) Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) 2) Central Management Server (CMS) 3) Input and Output File Repository Servers (FRS) 4) CMS system database, and then doing a parallel install on the app servers at the same time.

 

I also reviewed the "Interactive Cluster Patching Guide" but this does not answer my question either, as it appears it wants a parallel install as well.  This tool is an AWESOME tool but appears it could be expanded a bit more to allow for more options.  It's also telling me to use the WDeploy tool, which does not match with what the patch update guide says.  Since we are using Tomcat from BusinessObjects on the web servers, I shouldn't have to use the WDeploy tool (per the patching guide).

Kept Instances Best Practice

I have been searching for any best practices for number of instances to keep of a scheduled report but haven't found any.

 

So my question, being new to the administration scheduling reports, is there a best practice/general rule for keeping a number of instances or is it typically left to the business to decide how many they wish to hold on to.

Private Access Level on universe object in IDT

I have an object in a universe that only a small number of specific users should have access to.  All other objects in the universe should be accessible to Everyone.    I have set the Access Level on this object to Private.  I also have a User Group that I include the users who should be able to see the object.  In the MC I'v added this Group to the universe and given them Private Access.  The Everyone Group has Public Access.

 

The problem is that now only members of the Group that has Private access are able to view any reports built on this universe whether the Private is included in the query or not.

 

We have BI 4.1 with SP05 installed.  Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Universe Test Connection after upgrade

Hi all,

 

I'm testing the universes I have upgraded from 3.1 to 4.1. I have this "issue" when I do these checks from my PC:

 

- with BOE 3.1 Universe Designer if I open the Universe "A" and I check the connection of the universe (File > Parameters > Connection Test) the are no problems

- If I open a webi report based on the upgraded universe "A" from the Launchpad on BI 4.1 there are no problems

 

but

 

- with BI 4.1 Universe Designe Tool if I open the same upgraded Universe "A" and I do the same check (File > Parameters > Connection Test) the error is "The server is not responding! (SBO0001)" - "CS: COM Provider CLSID not specified or erroneous".

 

What's the problem ?

Promotion Management - Authorisations vs lock down of production

Hi,

 

I am currentky setting up the authroisations of a user who will be carrying out promotion management. The user should not be able to amend reports directly in production but should be able to migrate objects to production.

 

It seems if i use promotion management the user must be able to change objects in the target environment? This go against having production locked....

 

what process do you all use? I am thinking of having a separete logon to be used when in promotion mgt and you have to log into the target environment - this logon would have "change/update" rights.
