Hi,

I have a scenario where i need to use third party application F5 for tomcat load balancing for 2 different instances.Do we need to perform Tomcat clustering first and then use these them in F5 Load Balancer?

We have enabled Load Balancing from F5 for the 2 tomcat servers and in the fail over state this is not working as expected.Session is not directing to the alive web server. When a single instance of tomcat is stopped ( if it is the one used by LB) then it shows Invalid Session - WIH 0013 error on the Launch pad screen and after some time by refreshing the page it will take to the launch pad home screen ( we have SSO enabled here). Any user activity will be cancelled in this case and will be taken to the home screen.

How can existing session can be carried over to next available/alive web server in fail over scenarios? Is there any option available from tomcat? 

We are using tomcat 7 from BI 4.1 SP5 on windows 2012

we upgraded our BI-Platform from 4.0 to 4.1 SP6. We had already iViews with Crystal Reports and Dashboards (Xcelsius) in our SAP Portal (7.31 SP 15) and they worked fine - before we upgraded. Now it is not possible to open an iView with a Dashboard using IE11, there is only a blank page (and a JavaScript-Error). With Chrome and Firefox we are able to use this iView. Also an iView with Crystal Reports works with IE11. We installed the latest Patches for Portal and BI, but the error still occurs.

Does anyone get a similiar error (and solved;-))?

Is it necessary to import the Portal integration kit into the Portal, after a BI-Upgrade?

We are trying to cluster new Node (4.0 SP9) to existing system Testing Environment (4.0 SP8). After clustering, the CMS of New machine is not coming up.

while trying to find out the issue we found the below error message in trace.

\DatabaseSubsystem_impl.cpp:3501). (0 : Unknown ISubsystem::Error caught: The index info object with id 108 does not match the type of the index already in the database. The requested property type is string and the one in the database is datetime. The requested property size is 32 and the one in the database is 32. Index info object does match what is already in the database

Whereas after clustering the Old CMS is coming up..

The same clustering process is working fine in other Environments(DEV)

We have checked the CMS DB Version and in both machines .. all are same. The Database drivers version are same.

We tested the System DB connectivity from new machine . it also works fine.

Please suggest the possible root cause for this issue.

I am getting a strange error message when I try to generate a Crystal Report from my application.

The error says:

"String index out of range: -1"

I am pretty sure that all of my configuration, connectiosn etc are properly set.

Can anyone please advise as to how I might go about troubleshooting this issue?

I have some Freehand SQL Deski reports in BO 3.1 environment,

Planning to convert Freehand SQL Deski reports to webi,  and then migrating to BI 4.1.

So I am planning to create a universe with derived tables, by using the same SQL code from the deski report.

My question is, is it okay to create multiple derived tables in the single universe when they are from same source.(Each derived table used for respective report).

Or any suggestions for Converting Freehand SQL Deski reports to Webi Reports

I have one attachment file which i need to open it in SAP BO reporting tool.

Currently I can only view the File name and file path where it got stored but I am not able to open the attachments in SAP BO reports. Data type of that attachments is BLOB.

Please help me to access the data in the attachments i.e I need to open the attachments in SAP BO reporting tool.

I have just applied SP 6 to my test BO 4.1 system. Everything looks good except for the crystal reports 2013 scheduled reports. All of my scheduled Crystal Reports instances are failing in the LaunchPad with the following message: Database Connector Error: 'RFC_INVALID_HANDLE'
These reports ran fine on BO 4.1 SP 5, but when I applied SP 6 they began failing.

Has anyone run into this issue?

We are on BO4.1 SP5 windows with 2 servers clustered. we have Tomcat on both servers and using a network load balancer for load balancing.

The BI Launchpad is taking very long to show the login page during the peak hours (more than 200 sessions on each tomcat). and today the page never opened and we are forced to restart the tomcat on both machines which impacted the business.

I have set the following parameters in the JAVA tab of TomcatConfigiration :

Initial Memory 4GB , Max memory 4 GB, Thread Stack Size 1024, MaxPermSize 512M, -XX:ParallelGCThreads=1024 (SAP recommendatation)

In the server.xml added maxThreads ="500" to the HTTP connector.

The session timeout is set to 15Mins.

There is no issue with the CMC application.

I raised a ticket with SAP and they said Tomcat is not supported by them and asked to go for consulting.

Please help me resolving this issue...

We have setup Windows AD Authentication on our servers and it works fine as it is now. we recently moved from one domain to another and want to remove this SPN and add new SPN in CMC. However we are not able to delete SPN and Default Domain details. anytime we try to delete it keeps coming back and doesn't go away with a message (Since the AD is disabled, any changes made are disregarded)

Not sure how to clean this up for another SPN. any ideas? we are in 4.1 SP4

When we open any opendoc URL once it gets authenticated through SSO, blank screen will show for around 10 sec in which only right hand side panel will be visible, please refer following image

After this screen the dialogue box stating processing document will come as below and then report will get displayed.

I have tried to narrow down the issue for individual nodes, tomcat, WIPS still the same behavior.

The issue is same for all our environments, Sandbox, TEST, PROD.

The expected behavior is as soon as the user gets authenticated the dialogue box "Processing Document" should come, having blank page users accessing the URL feels that its doing nothing and they close the window and repeat the process again.

Please let me know if its a default behavior/bug/some issue in our environment.

since few minutes my SAP BO (BOE BI 4.1 sp5 patch4) doesn't show me the OLAP CONNECTION link (action_22) in the Central Management Console.

I used this till this morning to create SAP BW Connection and test the existing ones.

Yesterday I migrate the BIAR from a previous BOE BI 4.1 sp2 system without any issue... The access to the CMC is unrestricted and I also try to force the EXPLICIT GRANT to the Olap Connection line, but no result.. could you help me? As you can see in the snap that's the only missing thing.. everything else work fine.

I HAVE setting SSO Hana SP 9 REV 97 with SAP bi4.1 SP5 when I test the connexion It work fine.

But when I try to create a connexion in Information designer with SSO, it throw me an exception !!!

can you explain me what I missed.

I have created many events that trigger report chains in my BO 4.1 system.  They work perfectly when I schedule the reports with an administrator ID.

Unfortunately they do not work when I schedule a report with an ID that is not an administrator.

Can anyone tell me which security object I need to set for this to work and where?

I am unable to create delegated administration for Users and Groups in BO 4.0 SP6.  I followed the steps in the Administration Guide and relevant KB's, but I continue to get the screen below, which shows many more options than Users and Groups (Created group with Restricted CMC Tab Configurations, denied all access except Users and Groups, added TestUser to group.)

I created a message with SAP and the support engineer followed the same steps in his application (Enterprise) and the results were as expected - only Users and Groups option was visible.  While he watched, I followed the same steps on my application with different results as shown on the attached.  He was unable to help be any further, as he does not have access to an Edge machine.

In an effort to remove the Folders, Connections, and Universes options, I set top-level security on these folders to No Access for the TestGroup, which TestUser belongs to.  This resulted in no change to the screen options.

Has anyone been able to set this up successfully in Edge?

I was hoping someone could help me figure out where I went wrong. I have promoted several Crystal Reports with Cascading Prompts from Crystal Server 2011(BI4.0) to Crystal Server 2013(4.1). The promotion was successful and I included the LOV and all dependencies. I can see everything in the B.V. Manager on the new system and even "Browse Field" and see data. When I try to do anything with the report the values are empty. I open the report in the Designer and I can see all of the prompts, but still no data.

Has anyone else ran into this and solved it?

So I am setting up Single Sign on with Windows AD.

When adding the keytab file to the configuration (global.properties) it doesnt work. I have used the note 1359035 to test the keytab file and the results are below:

Can we create profiles for Crystal Reports(not using Universes)?  Crystal Reports are building directly from database tables.

We have to schedule reports using email based on filter criteria.

Scenario: 

Crystal Report  "X" having 250 different levels of data, need to schedule based on filters to different user(not BO users) using email.

I know we can do by this creating profiles and publications if reports are based on universe.

Please your help would be very much appreciated.

I have inherited a BO landscape which is currently a mystery when in comes to SSO and I have been confirmed from SAP that it is the first case. Please keep in mind that both SAP and MS are supporting me on the troubleshooting and I would like to find out if anyone out there has experienced the same type of issue.

Symptom:

8/10 single sign on works sporadically.

Issue can be replicated by disconnecting and reconnecting. If SSO does not work, after a few refreshes (F5), the user magically logs on.

Network has been ruled out since we are currently testing (client) in the same physical network as the server and domain controller (no firewall/proxies). We've also tried specifying 1 domain controller through "idm.kdc" and the issue is persistent in both DC1 and DC2.

From Wireshark and Fiddler trace the one thing that everyone (SAP/MS) agrees upon is the request is missing a piece:

Putting the logs side by side there are cookies and jsessions that are different but we don't know who is causing this.

This difference is visible from the first request that is being sent. Please check the highlighted differences:
