Hi everybody,

I installed at work BO XI 3.1 SP3 (ENTERPRISE03_0-10007443), everything went fine, I tested it and again everything seems to be OK, in CMC/Settings I am getting product version # 12.3.0.601 (I suppose this is important), now I am trying the next step - applying SP4 (ENTERPRISE04_0-10007443) and I am getting a not so encouraging message:

"SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP4 Update can not install because the version of the product on the system is too low"

Is there any FP to be installed on top of SP3 to have that server updateable to SP4? I assumed SP3 to SP4 is one of the possible upgrade paths (in fact I thought initially even SP3 to SP5 is possible, I tried that first but of course it didn't work ...)

Or maybe I have to install something else before applying SP4?

Dear All,

after installation of sp6 in R3, the desktop intelligence reports, when saved into an excel format, are merging many columns in the table of the report. More precisely, if I have a table with two columns, the first column will be the result, for instance, of the excel columns from a to h, and the second table column will be the result of merging from i to p.

There is no issue related to alignement in this case. No other element is inside the report

Moving the table at the top and left of the page does not solve the problem.

I have installed BI platform 4.0 sp 3 on server 1

I am trying to move content over (crystal reports) from our XIr2 server on server 2

i have gone to server 1 and launched the upgrade managment tool

source = info for server 2

destination = info for server 1

when i click next i get an fwm 01009 communication error occurend when trying to connect to server 1

so i can't reach the server i am on?

this server (server 1) is set to use SSL.... I am guessing that is part of the issue because using SSL with this system seems to be entierly overly complicated in general!!!

i had to mod ini files to get client tools to connect .... is there an ini file for the upgrade managment tool?

While using a  Dynamic prompt ,it queries the database each time you refresh the report, so that if one has inserted new data into the table in database, it gets reflected into DROP DOWN LIST which is prompted for the user to enter/select a particular value so that records are fetched  accordingly.

The List of Values will always contain up-to-date data.

Assume a situation when i inserted a row in table existing in database.

When i refresh that crystal report on my m/c, now the LOV contains the newly added value.

However, same is not the case when i deploy this report through publishing wizard feature on CMC and

place it within a folder meant for a specific user (say user1).

When accessing it on infoview  on the Server via the user1, the dynamic prompt doesn't contain recently added value.

Sometimes the newly inserted values reflect just after insertion into database but not all time. Morever, one thing i have noticed that if  I wait for 10-15 minutes , it then appears in the DROP DOWN LIST(within that DYNAMIC PROMPT)

Similarly is the case when i logon through a different user( say ADMINISTRATOR) because he only has access to this folder apart from user1.

Isn't it something strange?

or am i missing something (maybe some settings which need to be done prior to switching over to infoview)?

Apparentlythe link tothe picturesis not properly configured.

Has anyone everexperienced this? How to solve this issue?

Hi all, I hope this is the right place to ask this, SAP keeps changing things every time I come to their site so I'm no longer sure what is what.  We're having a problem with our Business Objects 3.1 SP5 server and I'm hoping to get some information to help me figure out whether it's Business Objects or a network problem before I push our network team to look at it harder. 

Environment:

Business Objects 3.1 SP5 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 64bit VIRTUAL SERVER

CMS is on a SQL2008 server on a separate machine that is also a physical server box

Prior to last weekend this configuration had been working fine for months.  However, we just moved buildings and last weekend all servers were physicall moved to the new location.  Since then, the CMS will not stay up.  I get any number of the following error messages in the Windows Application Event Log......... (server name has been replaced with <server name> for security)

BusinessObjects Enterprise CMS: The CMS system database connection to ""<server name>"" has been lost. 6 CMS system database connections remain. Reason: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Communication link failure

Database access error. Reason [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionRead (recv())..

Transport error: Invalid object reference.

BusinessObjects Enterprise CMS: The CMS system database connection to ""<server name>"" has been lost.  3 CMS system database connections remain. Reason: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionWrite (send()).

Also at the same time I will occasionally be unable to ping the SQL2008 box and a tracert will bomb out as well starting on the first leg.  Also the ODBC Administrator 32bit control panel where we have the system DSN set up will occasionally give the error "SQL Server does not exist or access denied" (error 17) when going in to "configure" to try and get to the "test connection" button.  I'm 99.5% sure this is a network issue and NOT a Business Objects issue since NOTHING was changed over the weekend software wise only the physical move to a new building and network setup.  However if anyone has any idea it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm tryiing to use a bw bex query into dashboard, but it tells that query doesn´t have the mark olap connection, when it's false, because the query has the mark  Olap connection.

Here is the image where shown that query doesn't have the olap mark

But it really has the mark in query designer. (it's the same query in same environment)

Could someone help me please ?

How do I change the Business Objects Enterprise XI to point to a different server for its data source?

   We have three system landscape (DEV-QTY-PRD). We are planning for BO BI 4.0 sp6 migration. Before that, in our landscape three systems are not synchronized state, so the requirement is before upgrade we have to refresh the exisitng systems and we have to move the contents from PRD to all the other two systems(DEV & QTY). I have searched all the possible ways to finjd document for BO system refresh. I haven't found any. I know we can move the PRD content using Import wizard to DEN and QTY. But before that what and all the basic activities need to be done .

Windows Enterprise 2003 x64

Please help me to find some proper documents or give me your valuable suggestions.

The environment we have is Edge - BO 4.0 SP04(FP3) - windows AD authentication - CAL licensing(20)

With a non-administrator login had issues with migrating reports/ universes, hence following SAP note 1754247 I am currently using only Administrator for LCM jobs.

The issue I face is with sessions being retained after using LCM. When I try to move contents using LCM from Dev to LCMbiar to QA using Administrator login, atleast 4 sessions are created for each job. When multiple jobs are executed, the session count reaches 20 and any user trying to login to BI launch pad gets an error that the licenses are used up.

Workaround used Currently:

1. SAP suggested using temporary license NUL for Administrator login (this known bug is resolved in BO 4.1 (note 1762436))

---currently made the change only for dev region

2. Or I have to restart the CMS to release the sessions

Please suggest if there is an alternate way to release the LCM sessions that remains active (irrespective of timeout). The other sessions from BI launch pad/ CMC gets released automatically after timeout.

I was reviewing a user's security in CMC DEV when I received a random Java error so I closed Internet Explorer and

logged back in CMC. When I went to search for the user that I was reviewing before the Java error, I was unable to

find the account in the User and Groups search. I ran the Windows AD jobs to see if it would bring the missing user

acocunt back into CMC but it did not. I then tried to create the missing account manually through Authenication but

it gave me this error "Your content has been rejected: name and type already exists under object 'Users'. (FWB

00026)". I also tried to import the missing user account via LCM but recieved a similar error.

Any ideas?

I've installed the following:

1. Dashboards 4.0 SP6.

2. LiveOffice 4.0 SP6.

We also had our BOE in 4.0 SP6 and Ms Office 2010 installed.

However, when I try to connect Liveoffice to BOE server, I am unable to see any document.

When I log in directly to BI launchpad or  CMC, using the same user, I can see all the documents.

I'm currently installing SAP BI BO 4 SP6 on Solaris 10 with Tomcat default webserver & Oracle 11g for the CMS and Auditing Databases. I've already created the Oracle database with 2 tablespaces (tablespace CMS for the CMS and tablespace Audit for Auditing). I have 2 questions:

1) What are the file systems I need to create for the BO installation? I've currently created only one file system called /bibo? Do we need a separate file system for the data (IFRS and OFRS)?

2) How will specify the 2 tablespaces in the installation screen when prompted for database for CMS and Auditing?

I am trying to define an object with predefined Oracle package function.while validating the below given example it throws Warning"Invalid Expression".

Even without validating the object I went ahead to use the object in a Query but again it end up in error-ORA-00904: "EC_PKGE"."CONVERTNUMBER": invalid identifier

Is there any restriction in IDT to use with oracle package function. Please help

I want to learn from core admin part like sizing, installation,clusting in windows,linux. Want to try  installing on sandbox initially.
