Business Objects 4.0 SP6 Version management error

I recently installed Business Objects 4.0 SP6 and everything seems to be running fine except Promotion management and Version management. When I log onto the CMC and go to Promotion management the following error shows up:

 

Sorry, Promotion management application is unable to process your request.: Please check you have sufficient rights to perform this operations.

 

All the servers are up and running and when I go to the CMC / Applications / Version Management settings / Test VMS / I get a successful response.

 

Any ideas why this feature is not working or how I need to configure?

BO4 - cache errors

Hi,

 

We were getting errors in our eventviewer similar to below.

 

Failed to determine status information of file/directory C:\bo4\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\Data\<server_name>_6400\<server_name>.WebIntelligenceProcessingServer1\sessions\_ARbMBLFfaYlOkIk8.mI4xzA\P0pi7164KT392{<server_name>}{<server_name>.WebIntelligenceProcessingServer1}{ARbMBLFfaYlOkIk8.mI4xzA}.tmp from the file system. Please check for file system corruption, permissions and sharing violation.

 

Despiote making our cache path shorter in length as per advice form sap  and other discussion logged

Anyone any other ideas?

 

Using BO4 SP6 - 2 windows servers 2008 ( 2 nodes in server)

This message

 

"the number of values returned for this LOV exceeds the configured maximum"

 

occurs in Crystal Enterprise, BI4 SP6 Patch 0, off of a BEx query...where is the maximum configured for enterprise?

 

I believe in previous versions of crystal (2008, 2011) I recall setting a MaxRecords string entry in the registry.

 

Should this work the same for Crystal Enterprise?  I did the same but it doesn't seem to be working (created key, restarted SIA)

 

Also - what are the best practices...ex. we have 100,000 customers returned, but it takes forever.  The user really just wants to enter customer ID and hit go.

connection server health is down

        I installed BOBJ 4.0 on windows 7,am able to login into launch pad,buth the problem is i could not login by UDT or Webi,client is also in same server,i found in CMC the connection servers health is bad,is that theCause?? and how to Resolve it??

 

Please give me your valuable thoughts..am attaching snapshot of it also

Unable to start the SIA/CMS under the service account

Getting the FWM 00003 error in both BI 4.0 and XI 3.1 systems. Service accounts and service principals are already set on Windows AD.

 

Following steps i performed:

1.Added the service account to the local administrator‘s group on BO server where the service account is running a SIA/CMS.

2. Granted the local policy Act as Part of the operating system.

3.  Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) is running via the service account after changing it from local admin.

 

However when i do Manage Servers then it's not allowing me to logon CMS with the Windows AD Service Account. Please see the attached error.

I tried with other combinations as well, but no help. Could you kindly advise. Thanks.

How to stop the blank crystal report

How to stop the blank report to be generated and delivered in
crystal report server 2008?   I scheduled a job to delivered
crystal report as PDF attachment by email service daily, but the blank report
is sent out if there is no data. It is kind of annoying to have to open the
email and then open the attachment only to find nothing there.

Moving Universe and Reports from development to Production

Hi,
 
The development part has been completed and we ready to go live, The developed reports and universes has to shifted to the Production environment.
 
Server Details:
 
BOXI 3.1 Linux Server.
 
We tried installing LCM in the Development Server, but it was unsuccessful. Since the deployment has to be done ASAP we thought of going for manual import/export method.
 
Shed some light in doing this.
 
Note:Migration without involving LCM and Import/Export Wizard.

Problem with uploading a crystal report

    I am having a problem uploading new crystal reports to my Enterprise CMC, I was able to load three reports to the system and I am also able to make changes to these reports and reload them back to Enterprise using the add-Local Document to a Folder I  created under Personal Folders, but any new Crystal reports I cannot upload to CMC, below is the error message I'm getting also we are using BusinessObjects Enterprise 14.1.0...Thanks for any help that you can give.

 

Adding Crystal Report "New_Customer.rpt" failed.
The server with kind rptappserver returned an error result. Failed to copy the
report file to the report object. Refreshing the report object properties might
have failed. Failed to read data from report file C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP
BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI
4.0\Data\CrystalReportsRasServer\temp\{0B6B2E16-0FEA-47D1-A7E3-B6194064CBEF}.rpt.
Reason: Unable to launch C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP
BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86\ReportAdd program to add report to
the system.

SSO - Service Account

Hello Experts,

 

We have XIR 3.1 SP4 on Windows Server with Tomcat 5.5, the domain controller is on windows server 2008.

 

As a part of the Windows AD authentication and Single sigle on implementation, the XIR3.1 guide and other posts (blogs) says that the service account is needed to be created and this service account should be a part of local administrator's group on the Business Objects server. Also this service account should have appropriate right "Act as a Part of the Operating System" on the server.

 

Now, we don't have either of the above settings configured, but still the windows authentication is working and even single sign on? Does anyone know how?

 

Is it not mandatory that the service account should be added to the local administrators group with proper rights?

SSO AD Enabling BO4 SP5 Patch 1

Hello

 

I'm trying to set up SSO for a BO4 install.

 

I have SSO for client tools working.

I have silent SSO through working for WebI while I have -Dcom.wedgetail.idm.sso.password=<PASSWORD> in the java settings.

 

When I add the keytab, change the global.properties file to include idm.keytab and remove the wedgetail from the java silent SSO stops working.

 

I've followed the instructions to the letter.#

 

Any clues?

CMC tool raise http 404 error when viewing user security on server object.

Description of Problem or Question:

 

In investigating an issue promoting an LCM job, I attempted to use the CMC tool to look at the user security on a server object. When I executed the command the tool raised an error.

 

HTTP Status 404 - /CmcAppActions/jsp/Shared_Rights/rights.face.

type: Status Report

message: /CmcAppActions/jsp/Shared_rights/rights.face

description: The requested resource (/CmcAppActions/jsp/Shared_Rights/rights.face) is not available.

   

Product\Version\Service Pack\Fixpack (if applicable):

Business Objects XI 3.1 SP2

Apache Tomcat 5.5.20

Java 6.0.170

   

Relevant Environment Information (OS & version, java or .net & version, DB & version):

WIN Server 2003  Enterprise SP2

   

Sporadic or Consistent (if applicable):

Consistent error

 

What has already been tried (where have you searched for a solution to your question/problem):

 

I have done some research in service.sap.com and on the Web, but have found nothing concrete other than it appears to be an error in the install of the Tomcat server.

BO 4.0 to New Hardware

Hi All,

 

I have a requirement to move BO 4.0 to new Hardware and also i am very new BO installation.

 

We have BO 4.0 installed on HW which is shared with other ECC Development. Now we have a new Hardware for BO separately. So i am planning to move all BO (apps and DB) to new HW.

 

Please share documents or pre-req steps to be taken. Thanks in Advance.

Universe workflow question

Hello,

 

Please could someone advise me on the correct workflow for moving a Universe (.unx) from a development to a QA / production environment.

We’re using BO 4.0 SP5 Patch 2 and trying to use a Universe to audit BO usage. I’ve used one of the sample audit universes for Oracle to achieve this in development.

 

How should I now move this to QA / Production to audit the relevant QA and Production BO databases?

 

I've tried couple of things:

 

  • Use Promotion Management to move the Connection, Universe and WEBI reports from Dev to QA. However then I’m not sure at which point I need to change the connection to point at the QA audit database. If I try to edit the connection in QA from IDT and change the settings I get an error “[Data Federator Driver] Unexpected exception: com.crystaldecisions.thirdparty.org.omg.CORBA.UNKNOWN: null”

 

  • Create a new connection in IDT on the QA server point to the QA audit database and then use this as a source this the existing Data Foundation and Business Layer and then publish the Universe.  However then it seems the WEBI reports would need to be redeveloped in QA as the Universe would have a different CUID?

 

Can anyone point me in the right direction please.

Java heap space

Hi experts,

 

I have created a report in Crystal Enterprise 4.0 on the top of SAP BEx query. When i tried to execute the report in Crystal Enterprise and i am having the Java heap space error but when i execute the same query in BEx designer and in the BI-4 Launchpad it's running fine. I looked on several threads regarding the issue and found one OSS Note: 1674114 suggested by one of the experts. We implemented the note but still having the same symptom.

Could anyone of you add some light on that issue?

Has anybody installed Business Objects XI (11) on Windows 2008 (64 or 32 bit)?

Has anybody installed Business Objects on Windows 2008 (64 or 32 bit)?

Long story short... we have to get off of Windows 2000. We have a need for version 11 (XI) and I am unable to get the IIS option to not be grayed out.

Even when IIS and ASP.net roles are installed.

I can select the Tomcat and MSDE options at install but then the services fail to start at the end of the install.

 

If anybody has any insight on this please share if you can.

BI 4.1 infospace migration error

Hi,

I have explorer infospace which i can index in my 3.1 environemnt. When I migrated this infospace to my 4.1 env. and tried re-indexing it, I am getting the below error msg-
Maximum character output size limit reached. Contact your BusinessObjects administrator. (Error: ERR_WIS_30272)

Any thoughts?

CRS 2011 CPU/RAM

I have Crystal Server 2011 Installed on Windows Server 2008 with 6gb Ram with 2 cores

We have barely any users logged in ever.

Our memory is being used between 80-100% all the time. Sql Server is using almost all of it.

I could not find any good articles explaining how to track down where the resources are going. Can someone point me in the right direction

to figure out what is going on?

I am trying to automate archiving process. I have attempted  to schedule archive process . Please suggest how process variant for process

 

acrhive data from infoprovider has to be created. As we are aware that process variant controls the archiving steps of archive process chain.

 

It is mandatory to create process variant for different infoproviders.

Embed CR reports into Email

Hi,

 

I want to embed a CR into Outlook's email while keeping all the formatting so I can send scheduled emails periodically. (I do not want this as an attachment.)

 

I have tried it in 2 ways:

 

- using Publication tool in BOE via mHTML format. It shows the charts/graphs but loses the formatting really quickly for everything else and does not support colours

 

- using LiveOffice to bring in CR elements into emails but I cannot find a way to schedule the emails periodically, also I cannot bring in manually drawn elements (ie: fake tables)

 

Is there another option I can consider? I can dive into the CR SDK if needed but I prefer not to.
