BO4 - ping error message in trace logs on same node

Hi,

 

We have been seeing regular errors in event log relating to possible cache corruption, permissions and sharing vilotaions.

 

We have already shortened cache folder and cleared down cache to rule out path length and cache coruption - permission on folders themselves look O.K - sia running under administrative account.

 

 

As we try further things to determine cause have activated high tracing on the webi proc servers

 

Strange thing is seeing error messages in the log relating to ping and these are on same node i.e node 2 log shows trying to ping node 2 ans saying down when up

 

 

Any ideas/thoughts

How to separate a cloned BO server

Hi,

 

We have a BO PRD server which has got SP2 + Patch 15 installed on it. The PRD server is not in sync with the DEV server which has got BO SP5 + Patch 7 installed on it. During testing on DEV we encountered some issues which we have raised with SAP for fixes. As a result we have decided to put the PRD server upgrade on hold until those issues are fully fixed.

 

Before we do a full upgrade on PRD we decided to test the upgrade on an identical environment. Since we did not have a TST environment we decided clone our PRD server and name that as TST and do all installation on this virtual machine. TST server has a different name and IP address in comparison with PRD.

 

To separate TST from PRD I created a new SIA node under CCM and then deleted the old one. The CMS and Audit Databases are copies of PRD, but on different server with different names.

 

After separation the TST server was fine with all the servers running fine in CMC. There was no impact on PRD. After that I installed SP4 (inc. FP03) on the TST server along with its patch 15.

 

I did a reboot after the install and checked whether I could get into CMC. Had no problems. However when I tried to logon to BI Launchpad it gave HTTP 500 error.

 

Apparently after that all our reports in PRD started throwing "(Error: RWI 00200) (Error: INF)" errors while opening the document. When I rolled back the changes in TST server with the snapshot of the server all the reports in PRD started working fine.

 

The different config files in TST still have names of the PRD server. I wonder what sort of linkage is there between TST and PRD which caused this problem. ALL the servers are on Windows 2008R2.

 

Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this issue? I am new to BO , hence any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks

Sessions remaining active in CMC

Hi

We are using  WebIntelligent and Explorer in BI 4.0. We have a combination of named and concurred users licenses and we use AD single sign on to log into both clients. Some users also have Enterprise alias to log in, as for example the administrators of the system.

 

Another thing to notice is that when we are working with Web Intelligent it tells us that the session has time out as I would normally expect.  However, although we have a timeout set up for when working with Web Intelligent,  I have noticed that the sessions remain in the system after the user stop using it. It happens with both Enterprise and AD log in.

 

1) With Enterprise: I have included an attachment. This is my user and I am an administrator of the system, I appear with 5 sessions although I am only log in once. In this case, the log in is using Enterprise authentication.

 

2) If I log in with SSO AD and close the windows without log out, and then log in again, the first session remains in the system for a long time.

 

I have seen the option "Windows SSPI Configuration"

 

Could you please let me know which parameters do we have to change?

Why Add member to user group is not able (SAP BO XI 3.1) ?

Hi Experts

 

We have connection a SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 server to a NetWeaver backend to authentication users to SAP BO. With my user-id in SAP BO, I'm trying to add members to user group, but the OK button appears disable. My user-id is member of Administrators Group but I can not add members to user group. Only can add member if I use the administrator user .

 

A spite of that i have the right to edit objects,  I neither can delete members of the user group, because; this message appears "you do not have the right to 'Edit objects' (ID: 6) for xxxx  (ID: 10205). Please contact your administrator if you require this right."

 

I can do another administartor tasks, but no this one

 

Can you help me to discover the cause of this restrictrion?

API 'initInstance' Error: ERR_WIS_30270

 

any idea?

Implementing HTTPS (SSL)

Hello Experts,

 

We have XIR3.1 SP4 on Windows Server 2003 with Apache Tomcat 5.5. It is a standalone server.

We have created a sub domain with a different url (businessobjects.companyname) and created some redirect.htm files to route any request that comes to the Business objects server to the sub-doman.

 

Currently both the urls for business objects (domain and sub-domain) has only HTTP and I have to implement HTTPS. I have read blogs and other websites and all talk about creating the certificates and keys on the server itself.

 

We have a third party tool that generates the certificates. So, I'm looking for any instructions on creating or using an internal certificate from a Certificate Authority or a 3rd Party Trusted Certificate with Business Objects?

 

My network admin says he can create and install the certificates on the server, but then how do I configure the tomcat and CMS to read from the installed certificates? How do I make the url to the sub domain secured (HTTPS) ?

 

Please suggest.

Issue setting up Single Sign On with BI4Sp05 with SSL enabled on Tomcat6

Hello

I am trying to setup Single-Sin-On(SSO) in the following environment

     BI 4.0 SP05 on Windows 2008 R2

      Windows AD authentication

      Tomcat 6

      SSL enabled

 

I have followed all the steps described in the guides and threads I could find to enable SSO. Following are the files I have made changes to

- server.xml to add httpmaxheadersize

However, I also have another connector element for enabling SSL

- global.properties file in the \\Tomcat6\...\custom

 

- I have added the following lines in Tomcat Configuration Java options

 

-Dcom.wedgetail.idm.sso.password=<password for the service account>

-Djcsi.kerberos.debug=true

 

I stopped Tomcat > Deleted the log files and > Started Tomcat back. But I am not able to get the SSO working. When I try to open BI Launchpad from within the server I get the error

 

HTTP Status 500 - com.wedgetail.idm.sso.ProtocolException: com.wedgetail.idm.spnego.server.SpnegoException: com.dstc.security.util.asn1.Asn1Exception: Bad tag encountered: 78.

 

When I try the same from Client station I get the GSSException : Failure unspecified at GSS API level error.

 

Is this possible at all to use SSO with SSL and Windows AD authentication? If so, what has to be done different?

Problem with Upgrade Manager Tool

Hi,

 

I try to use the UpgradeManagementTool to import a biar file to a repository.

 

When I want to import some user, I've got an exception : "com.businessobjects.framework.dependency.dm.exception.DMException$ExceptionWrapper".

 

My environment is BI 4 SP6. The firts installation is BI 4 SP4, with upgrade SP5 and SP6.

 

The biar file is done with the same Tool. I use the option "-internal_use_only_noversioncheck".

 

I do some test on environment in BI 4 SP6 directly. Everything is ok.

 

Is some one has the same problem ? Could you help me ?

Creating CMC DB backup and FRS

Hi,

     There was a issue with the BOE installation,  we were getting FATAL ERROR whenever we try to access the AddorRemove script.

So the SAP persons insisted us to remove the complete BOE installation and do a fresh installation. In order to do so we were asked to take the backup of File Repo and CMS Database.

I found the FRS input and Output folders and created a backup for those.

I dont know where to take the Backup of CMS DB, went through some topics in net i found in order to take the CMC backup we have to run the script file in the corresponding DB. We are using MYSQL. Can anyone tell the step by step process of how to take the CMS DB backup.

After doing this only we can proceed with our new Installation.

Inputs would be very useful..

How to Find Unused Reports in 4.0

Hi All,

 

We are currently in the process of migrating our reports from XI R2 to 4.0.

One audit report (in crystal 2008) that I would like to have at hand is a list of reports that have not been run since a specified date. We have auditing turned on, however this will only show events that have happened. If the report has not been accessed, it will have any events in the database. The only way I can see to do this is to query both the CMS and auditing databases. Is there any other way?

 

We would also like to do something similar with users in regards to find any that have not logged on since a specified date.

 

Can anyone provide a strategy for how they handled these scenarios? It seems they are fairly common ones and I would appreciate any assistance given.

Scheduling option are not Migrated ~~ XI R2 SP1 > 3.1 SP6 > BI 4 SP 6

Hello Experts,

 

I just finished the migration of the contents from XI R2 SP1 system to BI 4 SP6 via XI 3.1 SP6.

 

Everything looks nice, until went and checked the scheduling options of Crystal Reports. It looks like the scheduling settings are nor migrated at all.

 

Is that expected? or Did i miss something while migrating, if yes how can i fix them.

 

I searched over the forums and in one of the thread(http://support.infosol.com/thread.aspx?ID=517&forum=InfoBurst)

they say the following

"Any Schedules that you create in InfoBurst, whether it be InfoBurst 2.6 or InfoBurst Enterprise, are reusable when you upgrade your BOE platform. Your existing XIR2 documents will be 'remapped' within the Burst/Schedule to point to the BI4 equivalent documents, and the Schedules should work as before."

 

So, why it didn't work for us? I am curious and same time worried

Managing Data connections for LOVs in CMC

Hi,

 

I want to know how to manage connections in CMC for different databases.

We are using one CMC server for Development and QA testing. We are using Business View Manager(BVM) for maintaining our LOVs for dynamic parameters. These LOVs are based on the Data Connection.

 

How do we manage the LOVs and Dataconnections when both Developers and Testers working in CMC as Developers want to connect to Dev Database and QA team needs to connect to QA database.

 

Appreciate your time and response in this regard.

CMC: User update after role import is not working any more

Hello,

 

we have problems with the user update / import via CMC.

 

The facts:

SAP BO BI 4.0 SP 06

Authantication type: SAP (SSO with SAP BW)

The issue:

Everything worked fine until today.

When i add a today new SAP role in the role import and either wait until our next scheduled user update was started (every 6 hours) or press the button update now, nothing happens.

 

No error occurs but the new users (from the new role in SAP BW) are not available in the user list in users and groups.

 

Does anybody know a solution to this behaviour?

XI3.1 SSO Setup Problems - Kinit Invalid Realm Error

I have been following Tim Ziemba's guide to setting up SSO however have come stuck at the step when I verify my krb5.ini file.

 

When running Kinit.exe via the command line before I even get to enter a password I get the eror 'Invalid Realm Name'. I have checked all of the parameters in the file using the set command and they match up. Furthermore I have recreated the files multiple times only to receive the same ones.

 

Im not convinced the problem resides in the file itself now as I have removed the files altogether and I still get the same error. Any help in resolving or identifying this would be very much appreciated.
