issue with SIA node creation in system copy

Hello,

 

We are on BI 4.1 SP1 with Windows 2008 R2 with SQL Anywhere. This is my first copy.

My PROD system is on host-a and I want to to make a copy of this on a host-b for testing, where BI 4.1 is already installed. They both have same patch/version, same OS version and same installation path and same DB names.

 

So far I am able to restore the DB successfully. I have read 1275068 and admin guide as well on link http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/sbo41/en/sbo41sp1_bip_admin_en.pdf (Chapter 14 - Copying BI Platfrm.) I have read few other links as well like

http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-45037

and KBA 1730788 but I am little confused as what is my next step.

 

I have three question -

 

1. My first question is that once I have restored the CMS DB then I have to connect to it using Sybase Central tool and run the delete command as mentioned in the note 1275068 about deleting the references of the PROD BI 4.1 system. The SIA is still down while doing this.

Is this correct?

 

2. How should I create a SIA node and what are the options I need to choose. This is the major confusion. DO i need to deleet the old SIA node as well (which host-b already had before copy) or this add node will overwrite the existing SIA on host-b.

 

3. Do I have to rename the clustername also with key or just the cluster name.

 

I will greately appreciate your help.

unable to process your request

Hi,

 

In BI4.1 SP5 environment, we are having issue with only one crystal report (2013) and its throwing the error message 'unable to process your request' and then if you click details then the below message is appears.

MochiKit.Async.XMLHttpRequestError. Number 0 and request failed.

However other reports are working fine.

Issue to reproduce

 

1. refresh the report

2. Enter the prompt values and click OK

3. Its keep on loading for 4 to 6 mins after that its throwing error

 

This report is fetching 45000 records and the respective settings updated in CR processing server.

 

Note: the same report is working fine in BI4.0 SP5 Patch4 .

 

Please suggest me on this issue

Trusted authentication with HTTP_HEADER method

HI,

 

We need to implement trusted authentication with HTTP_HEADER method in XIR2. We are on websphere and AIX(CMS is on AIX) platform and would be using LDAP-AD plugin as we would map active directory users.

 

1) Can we do a trusted authentication using HTTP_HEADER, LDAP-AD plugin will this combination work?

 

We would be passing the credentials from our corporate portal to Infoview page which should do the SSO.

 

2) what is HTTP_Header and how should we use it?

 

3) We need one more clarification on the user retrieval method, where do we need to implement these methods do we need to implement at the HTTP server level or at application server level?

 

Please help!!!

BOBI 4.0 unable to login CMC, server error after I installed crystal report

Hi experts,

I do not have much experience in BOBI. My BOBI 4.0 server was working fine. I just downloaded and installed SAP Crystal Report 2013 sp4. Now I am unable to login in CMC & Launch pad after Crystal Report 2013 sp4 Installation. I am getting error after the login page. While investigating I found some servers in CMS is running with error, some failed and some in disabled mode. I have attached the CMS screenshot for more clarity.

i am using SAP BOBI 4.0 sp2, windows server 2008 R2.

please advice

Is it necessary to set for SBOP during the installation?

Hi experts,

 

I am in doubts whether one need to set SID for SBOP or not.

There are no plain instractions about it in guides besides SIA Node creation.

But according to http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1653689

it is recommended to change SBOP's SID

"2.1 SAP recommendation for renaming the SID and extended SID"

There is also the instruction in ACTool_Assistant

"# Input the long SID name for Tomcat technical system, recommand is <$SID>_WAS, where <$SID> is

# the first three character of BOE technical system.

sld.system.longSID = XXX_WAS"

if SID was set while installation the other one than as tree symbol recomendation

then ACTool_Assistant gives the error message

"Server <SID> not found or server may be down (FWM 01003) <SID>"

 

Is there any workaround for the situation?

Or is <SID> not important for SBOP?

SAP BI query performance issue due to BADI implementation for Virtual key figures

Hello All,

 

Sorry for intruding your mailbox.

 

We have performance issues when  running SAP BI query. Please find the details below and kindly help on the same.

 

Issue : We have performance issues  when executing a  SAP  BI query as it is taking around 4minutes to get the data.

 

System version : SAP BI 7.3

Tool used: SAP BI  Query Designer

 

Layout of the Query : Number of rows : 0

Number of columns : 4(Direct Key figures from the Multiprovider)

Free Characteristics : 77

Data volume : 4million records(No aggregates as we are using BWA)

Additional data: Indexing, Compression and rollups are done.

 

We have 7-8 virtual key figures and we are updating the virtual key figures through a BADI implementation(Dynamic calculation) and  we have set a filter to use that BADI only for particular set of queries(We have around 5 queries on the Multiprovider and we set a filter for 3 queries to use that BADI) .

 

BADI:

 

 

 

 

Analysis done : We kept a break point in BADI and  executed the query(Which is not in the filter – Which should not use the BADI) and tested the same , the query is not hitting the BADI but when we run the statistics in RSRT  it shows that the maximum time took in BADI computation.

 

 

The  filter in the BADI implementation showed above to  process BADI for few queries is not working as the RSRT shows that it is hitting the BADI.

 

Do we have any other approach to use the BADI only in the queries where virtual key figures are used?

 

Could you please provide the inputs on the same if anyone has worked on the Virtual key figures or Enhancing the query performance where virtual key figures are used.

Publishing a report for different external clients with different languages in PDF

Hell All,

 

I want to schedule/ burst a Crystal / Web I report to my external clients (not enterprise users) and the report output should be in different languages and data as per their security in PDF format. The key part here is different clients have different language requirements besides data filter. Any suggestions?  I heard about  "Multi-lingual Reporting" in Crystal Reports 4.x. Can any body throw some light on it, about how it works and whether it would meet the requirement mentioned above for external users (non BOBJ enterprise users)?

Please suggest any ideas.

CR 2011 - SIP won't connect -- PLEASE HELP

CCM console I see only 2 services - is this normal? I thought there were more?

BI 4.1 - same node name during system copy

Hello,

 

We are on BI 4.1 SP1. Is it ok to give the same node name when I create a node in SIA on the target system during copy.

E.g. if the target node name was destinationNODE but it will be deleted and will be replaced by new one.

Can we give the same node name again?

webI "Current number of active sessions"

Hi,

 

We are on BI 4.1 SP1 win Win 2008 R2.

In monitoring for WebI, I see two monitoring element under WebIntelligenceProcessignServer.

One is "'Number of active threads" and other is "Current number of active sessions".

What is the difference between the two? I know where to set the "Current number of active sessions" in Servers page but where do I do the setting for "'Number of active threads".

I read the note 1740500 but could not understand the actual difference.

Your help will be appreciated.

Info View cannot connect to the server message

Hi Team,

 

Need your inputs on the below error message.

 

 

"Infoview cannot connect to the server.Close the report panel and try

to connect again or see your administrator.

 

Observation:

 

This is an intermittent issue which comes for few users when reports

are edited in advanced Java mode.

 

and we are 3.1 sp 6 fp 6.1.

 

Tried with below steps to still facing the same issue.

 

  1. Log out of InfoView
  2. From your browser, go to Internet Options > Security
  3. Click on custom level Scroll down to the Miscellaneous section
  4. Under "Access data sources across domains ", select Enable
  5. Restart your browser
  6. Test by refreshing report again to see if you will encounter this issue again

 

 

 

Any suggestions would be help full to avoid this error.

BW-BO SSO is not working after upgrade 7.3 to 7.4 BW server

Hi,

 

We have recently added new app servers added to existing BW server. After that BO-BW SSO stopped working in any tools(webi/IDT etc..)

But if we use user name and password , we can able to run/test the webi Reports.

BO Version : 4.1 SP2

Cluster : Yes

Metadata : SQL Server

SAP BW 7.4 ( Recently upgraded from 7.3 to 7.4)  , Do we need to generate new certificates(From BO server) after up-gradation of BW? If Yes, do we need to generate from one server .cert and keystore file and can we place same files in all the BO servers? or separately files needs to be generated on each server?

 

I have generated new certificates and shared with Security, once they confirmed that certificate has been uploaded. We have imported KeyTool file into CMC and updated. But still the issue is not resolved.

 

do we need BO restart after applying new certificate.

 

Can some one please share inputs that, if I am missing anything to correct BW-BO SSO issue.

BI 4.1 SP4 - SSO Setup Issue using Load Balancer

I am able to setup SSO for Web Server URL. However I am having trouble with Load balancer URL.


We are using Business Objects 4.1 SP4 and here's the infrastructure details of the environment:


1. BO CMS Server - This is a list of 4 clustered windows 2008 R2 servers.


2. Web Server - We are using WebLogic 10.3.6 to host the BO application called BOE. WebLogic is running in two Linux servers. WebLogic URL http://isdwlqax12:17607/BOE/BIhttp://isdwlqax11:17607/BOE/BI


3. Load Balancer - The URL is hosted by iPlanet webserver from 2 Linux servers and it acts as a load balancer.

URL http://bat-cmt-reporting.domain.com/BOE/BI  -- The users will use this URL to launch BI LaunchPad

The SSO is working fine when I use the WebLogic URL i.e. http://isdwlqax12:17607/BOE/BI. However, when I use the Load Balancer URL, the SSO is not working. I have to manually enter username and password to login.


I have also added below SPN for load balance servers and URL in the service account. Still the SSO is not working.

WEBI tool bar customization in Launchpad Portal- BOBJ 4.1 SP2

Hi,

We are trying to enable some features of WEBI tool bar in the Portal Launchpad for the end users as show in the image here.

How can we enable, Track, FilterBar, Outline features in the attached image, without enabling the Design drop down menu to the far right corner.

For a group of end users, we need just the ability to Track, Outline and Filter, nothing less , nothing more :-)

Crystal Reports 2013 prompt edit is hanging

Hi All,

 

Crystal Reports 2013 was installed on the App Server. All reports were migrated from CR 2011.

Couple weeks later all the users started experiencing the same problem for all reports (one more time - all the users for all the reports):

Go to the report --> Schedule or change Default Settings --> Prompts --> Edit Values and the system is hanging and never returns back until your session is expired.

 

Application restart didn't help.

 

Please help if anyone had anything similar.

Tool to mass change connection in report

Hi,

 

I wanted to know if it exists a tool to change the connection of a lot of report (~2000).

We have moved from file report to crystal server and now we want to update each report from using their own configured connection to the jdbc configured connection of the crystal server (with the IDT tool).

 

Manually, the operation is easy :

1) Open the report in Crystal Report for Enterprise 4

2) Go to the "change datasource connection wizard"

3) Update each table/view with the corresponding table/view in the new connection

4) Save the report

 

But even if the procedure is easy, for ~2000 reports it's a very long and repetitve procedure.

 

I've seen that maybe the "Schedule Manage" war app or the "Cross-Application Mass Maintenance" could maybe do that (in some forum and in the doc help) but it's seems that i'm unable to find a download link and an installation guide for those two apps.

 

Could somebody confirm that's the way to do that kind of change.

Where could i find download links and resource guides for those apps ?

Is there really an app to do that ?

Some people talk about the sdk way, is it an alternative ?

Help with "Republish the file" after running RepoScan

I was reading through 'Business Intelligence Platform Repository Diagnostic Tool User Guide' and I have a question about this particular situation

 

Warning MessageInconsistencyRecommendationAction

<File Name> exists in the

Input or Output FRS, but

there is no corresponding

InfoObject in the repository.

The file exists in the FRS,

but there is no corresponding

file in the CMS

database.

“Please republish the

file. The application will

not publish this file for

you.”

When you republish

the file, an object is

created in the CMS

database.

 

I could not find any kind of references or instructions of how to do the republish the file. Where do I do that? In CMC after the scan?

What Web Application To Use For BI 4.1 Split Deployment ?

Hello,

 

We are currently running a split deployment of BusinessObjects XI 3.1, to service an estimated 500 users. The servers are running Windows 2003 Standard, but connect to an IBM AIX server hosting the Data Warehouse.

 

We are looking towards upgrading to BusinessObjects XI 4.1, and I want to know what other community users are using for the Web Application, and what they recommend for best performance. We currently use IBM Websphere Application 8.5.5.0:

CMS stays in starting state

Hi All,

 

 

After a server reboot,CMS stays starting state for 2 hrs and later it starts.

During the starting state,it tries to cluster with other node and messes(i.e users face login issue) the working node.

 

Environment

windows 2008

Tomcat

RepoDB-sqlserver 2008

RTF text truncation issue in Crystal Report

Hello,

 

We are currently using Crystal Report XI R2. All the reports are deployed in BOE XI R2 on Windows.

 

We have one report which has another sub report. This subreport displays RTF text. The text interpertation is set to "RTF text". Field is set to autogrow. The subreport is also set to autogrow. This report is exported as a PDF. Everything works perfectly fine.

 

We decide to test out BOE XI R4.1 SP 2 on Windows. So we setup a new server. When we run this particular report, the RTF text is being cut off on the right side. I tried playing the that paragraph indentation, text box size and no luck. The text is always cut..

Notice the "ed" is cut off. There are also partial characters. I looked as subsequent service packs (Sp3,sp4,sp5) and it does not look like this issue has been resolved.


What are my options to resolve this issue?
