I have a test BO environment which needs to changed to looks exactly like another existing BO environment. Both are SAP 4.0.
when i mean exactly, in terms of server directory paths , FRS paths , reports, universe , report schedules etc all should resemble exactly the same.
few things like SMTP sever for automated reports will be different.
Can you please advise how to achieve this ?

I see the below error frequently appearing in Windows Event log. Does any one know what is this "deletion.criteria-guid"?
does this delete any files from the FileStore? We are unable to access some of the scheduled report output files so wondering if this could be the cause.

I am following the below blog to replicate content of prod in Sandbox.
Replicating the SAP BI 4.x Environment
However while Creating a new SIA node i am encountering errors as the new SIA node getting added with out any default servers.
I was able to achieve the above in a different environment where there were no clusters.But in the current scenario i have my prod which has a cluster environment with windows AD auth where as sandbox is installed in a single system with enterprise Auth.I have attached the error logs which i got while adding the new node with default servers in CCM.

I have a weird situation here. At around 9:30pm every night, i get emails sent to me that our concurrent users limit is exceeding (have a watch to monitor concurrent sessions) and webi processing server is out of memory or connection limit has reached. Keep in mind, there are no users logged in at that point of time. All our users are done by 6pm using the environment. How is that even possible, when there are no users in the system and nobody is running reports? Could someone please help understand this behavior? Thank you.
When i change the FRS location through InputFileRepository Server -> Properties, promotion management gives me following error.
This is when i click on promotion management.
"Sorry, Promotion management application is unable to process your request.: Please check you have sufficient rights to perform this operations."
How ever when I change the FRS location back to default path, promotion management opens fine.
Is there any other place I need to change the FRS path. please advise.

We want copy BO system to system A to System B.
1.BO 4.0 SP4 is already installed on system A
SIA Node name: XYZ
SIA Port : 6410
CMS Port : 6400
2.We have installed BO 4.0 SP4 system on System B
SIA Node name:XYZ
SIA Port :6410
CMS Port :6400
We want to keep same CMS port as we don`t want to change the configuration.
Question: When we recreate Node, we have to select Start a new temporary CMS with Free port
( other than 6400 ).
So will our CMS have port 6400 after restore?
Is it better idea to install BO on system B with same ports as that of System A ?

Very frustrated.
I had to add an optional parameter to a set of crystal reports that are scheduled multiple times for multiple parameters. But for whatever reason, Crystal Server (2013) will not update the parameter listing and base SQL (as per SAP support and my experience) of the report, so in order for me to either get the reports to work and/or use the new parameter, i have to start from scratch. Without it, the existing shedules fail with a "information is needed before this report can be processed"
In this particular iteration, i had to change 5 different reports for 6 clients, so i had to recreate 30 scheduled reports from scratch (requiring a full reselection of all the pre-existing 4 parameters, email addresses and the like). Thus because i added a single optional parameter to 5 reports, i suddenly have to rework more than 120 unique parameter selections and all sorts of emails, deleting all the existing reports as well. Each of these also is emailed out to multiple people, so if i get it wrong, they will all know about it.
I also found that if i even just add a new value choice to one of the static parameters, there is no way for me to go to an existing scheduled report and select that new parameter. again, i have to reschedule from scratch. How often would a list of static variables change? pretty often i would think.
If the repository will correctly update many of the other elements of the report (formatting, formulas etc), why cant it update the base SQL? am i wrong in assuming that this would be a standard problem for many? What if i had a whole slew more scheduled reports, like hundreds? It makes no sense that Crystal Server cant adequately update itself this way for ease of use and accuracy as well.
Please, is there a magic bullet out there i dont know about? SAP just says, sorry this is the way it is.

I am trying to grant access to the Categories menu option in BOBJ and I cannot seem to find the access right that controls this option. Granting users full control in the folder structure and categories does not help. Any Ideas?

We are on BI 4.1 SP1. Is it ok to give the same node name when I create a node in SIA on the target system during copy.
E.g. if the target node name was destinationNODE but it will be deleted and will be replaced by new one.
Can we give the same node name again?

we are currently using BO 4.0 SP4 and am wondering is it possible to have a user group with a permission to create groups only at sub level and not at top level?
eg: Top Level folder
Group 1
Group 2
secGroup1
I have secGroup1 group which will have full control on "group1" group but will not have create group options at top level above "group1" group level. is it possible in BO 4.0? I am currently testing and it seems it is full or nothing (you should give create group at top level or no create group at all)
that would be an important security piece and am sure BO would have it some way

I am able to setup SSO for Web Server URL. However I am having trouble with Load balancer URL.
We are using Business Objects 4.1 SP4 and here's the infrastructure details of the environment:
1. BO CMS Server - This is a list of 4 clustered windows 2008 R2 servers.
2. Web Server - We are using WebLogic 10.3.6 to host the BO application called BOE. WebLogic is running in two Linux servers. WebLogic URL http://isdwlqax12:17607/BOE/BIhttp://isdwlqax11:17607/BOE/BI
3. Load Balancer - The URL is hosted by iPlanet webserver from 2 Linux servers and it acts as a load balancer.

The SSO is working fine when I use the WebLogic URL i.e. http://isdwlqax12:17607/BOE/BI. However, when I use the Load Balancer URL, the SSO is not working. I have to manually enter username and password to login.
I have also added below SPN for load balance servers and URL in the service account. Still the SSO is not working.

I am trying to install the BO on the windows server 2012 with existing SQL server. But I cant understand, what they mean by these steps :
'Before installing Business Objects BI Server atop an existing installation of
MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server, you must first create the database instance.
You also need to complete several preparatory steps'
Can any one please explain me what exactly do they mean by this ? also can some body please point me to the exact steps to follow ?

I am facing a project to move a whole SAP BI system (SP4.1 Pacth1) from a set of machines to a new one (same OS / same underlying CMS DB vendor). Machines source/destination names (this is the tricky point) were different
Initially we were considering 2 potential options to move all content between machine (processing tiers)
1. Install onto a new machine(s) with identical version, operating system and ‘install path’ as the original
2. Copy original CMS database and FRS (using conventional tools)
3. Either use a firewall or delete ‘server’ references in the copied CMS to prevent conflict with original (KBA 1275068)
4. Re-create the Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) Nodes on the new machine(s) (using same names as the original) against the copied CMS and FRS.
5. Apply the patch installer on the new machine(s) to bring it to the latest Minor Release, Support Pack or Patch version
6. Use Promotion Management Tool to copy the delta Export / Import BIAR files, or Live to Live
1. Build new target machine with same version/SP
2. Use LCM Command line to move content from old system to new
Some weeks ago we decided to consider method A as we were more experienced using backups than LCM CLI scripts. Unfortunately we have suffering a lot of issues, mainly related with naming maching dependencies that remain in the new servers that cause some problems.
We are considering to repeat the process using method B but we are not sure that this one will be exempt of other "undocumented" issues.
My question is simple:
What is your experience facing this problem? If you have, which method have you followed?

I am relatively new to managing Crystal Reports in BI Platform 4.1 SP4, and I have a question regarding updating objects/documents.
Adding a Crystal Report to a folder for access in BI Platform is relatively straight forward. Even moving it from one environment to another using Promotion Manager is not a problem. However, what if the original report designer updates the report. As was said, I know how to add a new object (Crystal Report), but how do I replace it? And upon replacing it, if I promote it using the Promotion Manager to another environment, will the history of the object in the destination environment remain or be erased?
Sorry for the remedial questions, but any help our direction to documentation would be greatly appreciated.

how can we achieve this.
we have already implemented BADI to restrict the values but its not coming in a sorted (descending order) way.
Is there any way to change the sort order by default, as the query will be accessed in dashboard and in dashboard there is no sort option.

I've been trying to install Business Objects XI 4.1 SP4 on a new server using the full install. The install hangs on 'waiting for CMS to start'. It eventually continues on and completes the install, however, the SIA does not it exist after the install. It does not appear under the CCM. When I attempt to add a node to create the SIA manually I run into the same issue. I'm connection to a SQL database and the ODBC drivers connect fine. Has anyone had this problem and how did you resolve it?
I have installed Crystal Server 2013 onto Windows Server 2012. I originally installed 32 bit Oracle client for Crystal report connectivity. This was working fine until I wanted to use Crystal 4 Enterprise which needs 64 bit drivers. After installing 64 bit client the 32 bit was rendered useless. I have tried many combinations and complete clean re-installs, but whichever one is installed last kills the other one.
One of the biggest issues is that I am unable to open the Oracle Net Manager for the client installed first.
Is there a proven way to set this up?
FYI... This is only for the connectivity of the clients and reporting tools. No audit or CMS DB is being used with Oracle.

This morning when I tried to access CMC I could not log on. I get to the logon screen and enter my credentials and the screen acts like it is authenticating but then it just removes the logon information and stays blank.
It was working fine yesterday.
I am able to log on to the InfoView console. I just can't access CMC
Any ideas?

We installed BOBJ 4.0 on Windows 2008 server R2 standard edition (64 Bit), The installation went fine, without any error . when I tried to login to CMC or Infoview (BI Launch Pad) its very slow
I checked the CPU utilization it shows 100% always (the windows 2008 server has 4 CPU's and 4 GB RAM) . The machine overall has become very very slow.
Restarted the machine still the same issue.
Anybody has the same experience ???
