Is it possible to use Service Account for Relational Connection to SQL Server DB (via OLE DB)?

Is there any way to allow the BusinessObjects service account to act as a proxy user for all SQL Server connections (OLE DB)?

 

In the new IDT, when creating a Relational Connection, one is presented with three authentication options:

 

(1) Use BusinessObjects credential mapping

          Making use of the user-specific DB credentials configured in the Users and Groups section of the CMC

 

(2) Use single-sign when refreshing reports at view time

          This is for Single Sign On to database and Kerberos must be configured throughout the enterprise to support it - we do not support this currently. Also, from a maintenance perspective, we want to use the service account user so that the DBA can assign the same single user to all necessary DBs, rather than having to assign specific users as they come and go.

 

(3) Use specified username and password

          Which allows use of SQL authentication - NOT Windows AD authentication - I have read that this is OLE DB driver itself enforcing this.

 

There doesn't seem to be any way to simply rely on the BOBJ platform service account to make all of the connections.

 

FYI - We do not want to fallback to ODBC, for maintenance reasons.

 

Any clarification or help on this matter is appreciated.

CMS Cluster key password requirement?

I have download a trial version of the Crystal Report Server.   I tried to set it up but stuck on the CMS Cluster key.

With all the password I have supplied, none of them pass the validation.  I made sure that all my password met the upper case characters, lower case characters, and numbers.  My passwords are all at least 8 characters long.   I tried to call support, but they are not able to help due to it's a trial version.  So I can't make a case with my boss to buy the product if I can't even test it out.  Any suggestion so I could get the ball rolling would be great.

Promote via CTS BO BI 4.1 SP3

Hello,

 

we are trying to configure the promotion via CTS+ on our BO BI 4.1 systems. We have understood that the LCM is now integrated within the CMC. So does it mean that we do not need an JAVA instance anymore, am i correct?

We have followed the instructions in the following document:

We do not have a BW system as our BI solution is based on HANA. All the config part is now done (without a Java instance and without HANA). But we are unable to create a promotion job. When we create the job and select "promote via cts" it keeps on asking to logon as SAP (please see attached file)

Any ideas?

Hi,

 

I read couple of blogs and Benchmark notes for identifying the Machine SAPS for our server which runs on a VMware. I want to know how much will be the Machine SAPS ? Is there any other way apart from contacting the hardware vendor can we get this number ?Please advice.

Change E-mail for system user BWREMOTE

Dear All,

 

How can i change the E-mail for system user BWREMOTE, i tried in SU01 email field is empty in communication tab, checked in BW and ECC no details were maintained. Currently this user is able to send emails, would like to change the email address to this user.

I'd like to ask how to delete Information Set and Exploration View Set in SAP Business Obejct?

I can't find the menu. In Bobj commonly in organize - delete.

But i can't find organize(button disable) menu for Information Set and Exploration View Set Files (Explorer)

Hi Experts,

 

 

           I am working  on HANA DB. I have created analytical view over tables and also made a copy of predefined analytical view for example:

    

    While I am trying to access the  throw IDT Connection it throwing error on  displaying data of analytical view.

Eorr is: "SAP DBTech JDBC: [7]: feature not supported: not allowed over OLAP VIEW : search without aggregation or grouping by expression other than view column"

Even I am not able to display data on IDT under the business layer same error occurs:

WDeploy Issue

Hi,

 

I'm using 4 Virtual Machines currently

 

Virtual Machine A and C contains BOE Installation

Virtual Machine B and D contains Apache Tomcat Server

 

We have used WDeploy in Virtual Machine A to deploy the WAR files  in the Apache Tomcat Server located in Virtual Machine B and used WDeploy in Virtual MAchine C to deploy the WAR files in the Apache Tomcat Server located in Virtual Machine D. Our deployment was successful. But when we try to undeploy i.e., Undeployment of WAR files in Apache Tomcat Server in Virtual Machine B using WDdeploy in Virtual Machine C and undeployment from Virtual Machine D from Virtual Machine A.

 

1. We are getting a message saying undeployment successful but when we go the path C:\Tomcat7\webapps we see that undeployment was not proper as we still have Mobile Server and Mobile BI Service folder which should have been removed.

 

2. When we try to re-deploy it in the similar fashion, we are getting a message saying Deployment successful, but when we go to the C:\Tomcat7\webapps, we are unable to see any files.

Alias names are missing while assigning to user

Hello Experts,

 

I am facing one problem in my BOBJ system frequently. During user creation via CMC console of our BOBJ system, we used to assign alias name. So, while assigning alias names, sometime it shows list of available alias names and sometimes it disapeears. And after sometimes , it is visible again in list. We are not able to understand what is causing this condition in our system.

Upgrade BO4.0 to BO4.1. Promotion Manager: Could not reach CMS

Hi Everyone

 

We recently upgraded our BO Dev and QA environment from BO 4.0 SP4 Patch 5 to BO 4.1 SP3 (no patch).

 

Promotion Problem:

Source:                 Destination:                Result:

Prod (4.0)              Dev / QA (4.1)             Success
Dev / QA (4.1)        Prod (4.0)                   Success

Dev (4.1)                QA (4.1)                     Error

QA (4.1)                Dev (4.1)                     Error

 

So we are able to promote between 4.0 and 4.1, but not between 4.1 and 4.1.

 

We get the following error if we try to promote between 4.1 and 4.1. It happens when you try to connect to a different 4.1 system as the source or destination.

 

"Could not reach CMS *********** Specify the correct host and port and check for network issues. (FWVM 20030)"

Can't Share/Send the objects from BI Inbox

Hi Folks...

I have an issue, In BI inbox end user can't share the objects with other users.
SAP BOBI 4.0 patch 4 updated.

I did some steps to rectify the problem, but no success yet:


STEPS I took:
----------------------
After verfiy the IE8 version and settings as well as check the JAVA update/settings too..

*Share the user screen and check the problem, User can't send the objects within the enterprise on his local machine. no problem to go into the inbox but no user list available and unable to search any user.
*Using the user enterprise Alias of the same user, logon on my  machine with user ID using BI launch pad, there is no problem in this scenrio to send and search the other user's to share the objects.
* Using Alias is able to search and send the objets with in BI inbox, it means there is most probably no issue of authutication/security etc.

Same user ID on different machine have no issue but when user work on his own machine having the problem.

Can any one have some great idea to resolve the issue.

Centigon map in dashboard

Hi,

 

I have created a dashboard in which Centigon maps is embedded. The map works completely fine when dashboard is opened in local machine. But when the dashboard is deployed in dev server, the map does not work at all when dashboard is opened through infoview. Any solutions?

BI 4.1 CMC -- User or group properties are not visible

Dear All,

 

I have installed bi 4.1 SP3 recently. I have logged into CMC with administrator account.

 

when selected the user  administrator and right click on the user i can see only the "New" option.

 

i could not able to see any properties like join group,Add member to group,member of,profilevalues,user security,properties,tools..etc  as like in BO 3.1.

 

i have the same issue for the groups also.

 

similarly i could not able to right click on any of the applications like BI launchpad,IDT,UDT..etc.

 

I could not able to trace this whether it is license issue or issue with java version.

Can some one help me out to solve this issue.

Folder Visibility

I have assigned "No access" right at this group for the folder that i would hidden but any are remained visible.

crystal reports server report view

I have done the following

a) Installed crystal reports server on a Windows 2008 server

b) installed crystal reports software on a PC to design a report

c) saved the report using the enterprise option on the enterprise option...this saved the report on the Windows 2008 server

d) I used the Central Management Console and logged on to the server

     next I went to the folders and saw the folder containing the report and then right clicked on the report and used the view option to view the report

 

Question

How do I give a url to a user to view this report along with a refresh option so that user can see the report and also be able to see the changes if any ?
