When I installed the base version to upgrade to SP3 the CMS was not installed. To investigate this I check the SIA and the same was not created. When I tried to install SIA it gives me the attached error. On the server I tried tnsping on the database but they are working perfectly fine. Please can you guys have a look and advise the probable causes.

I am new to SAP IP and have to create a planning function to check the total of a key figure distribution equal to 100 percent.

I have to add the keyfigure for the combination of abc, def and ghi. In case the total is not 100, then display error.
Any pointers will be of great help.

We are running a simple two node Cluster for our BOBJ architecture. It is two Windows servers, each with Tomcat, the CMS and the SIA Node installed forming a cluster. We balance the traffic to Tomcat with an F5 router. It runs our BIP 4.0 SP05 pretty good. But every time we have a stability issue, SAP asks why we haven't split our web-tier off separately. (see the left side of my pic below)
We are now upgrading to BIP 4.1 SP02 and as part of that project, we've decided to go ahead and put the Web-Tier (both dynamic and static) on a separate VM Guest. Since Tomcat will run on VM, we can rely on the inherent redundancy that a virtual cluster offers. (see the right side of my pic below)
Will that single Tomcat Server balance the load to the two backend CMS engines? What about Analysis for Office? I noticed that the dsws.properties point to only one CMS engine. Will that put all of my Analysis connections on just one of the nodes?
I'm open to feedback and lessons learned from anyone that's done something similar. I'd like to flush out any weakness in this design. I haven't ruled out the possiblity of two VM guests each running Tomcat in front of each CMS server but is that overkill? We don't want to just throw more and more servers into the design unless they are really needed.

I'm trying to create a VB macro to split the Data into separate tabs if the Row limit exceeds 65000, so that we can save that in a xls document.
In that i have created a Report Level variable (not a Universe Object. Just a report level variable). I'm trying to assign this Variable to my macro variable. I need the correct syntax for assigning my Report variable to macro variable. The sample code is as below
Report Variable is a measure variable.
Code:

Set DocVar = Doc.DocumentVariables("Report Variable")
Now, when i try to get the value of DocVar in MsgBox (MsgBox DocVar), it is giving the below error
Run-time error '438' : Object doesn't support this property or method.
However, when i execute (MsgBox DocVar.Name), the name of the Report Variable is displaying correctly in the message box.
Anyone please help in getting the correct syntax for setting report variable's value to a macro variable.
We needs your inputs to size the BO servers for the typical workflow.
One of our client is having CPU based license, hence he will be having only 2 servers in cluster.
Both are running with full stack of services. ( All services+ APS Split + Tomcat).
Now there is a new requirement is coming.
Customer want to have invoices in the crystal report and schedule (Email)to run for each invoice number.
DB source:
Source of the crystal report is ECC. 30 to 40 thousand invoices will be created for a month in ECC.
Bo reports:
There are 4 crystal templates are there based on the invoice type.
Java Code:
Java Code will help to initiate scheduling according to the Invoice type and Crystal template. This will not push all the invoices at the same time to BO server. One by one it will schedule. Once the first schedule is over, it will schedule the second job based on the invoice type.
BO servers:
2 nodes in cluster, Both the nodes are having crystal 2013 services and AdaptiveJob server.
Need your inputs to size this system. What are all needs to be considered in this flow for the sizing.
Any best practices? Any suggestions?

We are planning to update our BusinessObjects to BI platform 4.1. Currently we already have test environment with two servers (BI platform and client tools on different machines). The BI platform does already what it is supposed to do. But we can't get LiveOffice to work. First of all the "open from repository"-button is always disabled at start (greyed out). But we bypassed this issue by closing the empty spread sheet (without closing the application). As soon as we want to connect to the repository (e.g. open insert wizard window) the validation succeeds but the wizard window disappears. One of the error messages we get from log4j is the fallowing:

We also installed LiveOffice on a different machine. It is interessting, that the repository can be opened from this machine but a LiveOffice document can't be opened anyway. The error we get there is the fallowing:
Error opening the file (LO 02006) --> could not find a part of the path <wrong path>
These two problems may beeing caused from the same problem.
More Information:
- Microsoft Office 2010
- BI platform 4.1 SP2 patch 4 (Clienttools and LiveOffice are on same sp and patch level)

Does the BI platform need any configurations in order to work with LiveOffice? Any ideas we haven't thought of yet?

I have a WebI report in Business Objects 3.1 where the scheduled instance create a file in folder \filestore\output with a size more than 220 MB.
Output format is Web Intelligence and caching is Standard HTML. I can not use Excel because I use Drill Filters in the report.
How can I reduce size of this output file. The problem is when I open last instance it needs some minutes to view the report.
I know that I can delete some tables or delete rows. But that's not possible. I need all data. Also it is not possible to filter data in the query.
Is there another way to reduce the file size?

We have installed BOBJ 4.1 SP2 and running the server for about a month or so successfully.
On May 1st, We noticed that the Tomcat server suddenly stops without any manual intervention.
In the Event Viewer we see this logged at that time:
"Apache tomcat for BI4 service entered the stopped state"
For example, I was working on scheduling WEBI reports, Everything was going fine and suddenly I received error on the launch pad and the page does not come up. And I could not open CMC either.
So I checked the CCM and found that Tomcat stopped. This happened suddenly as I was in the middle of working through.
We have noticed this kind of behavior 2-3 times.
After all the search for logs, I finally found this file "hs_err_pid1224" in \Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\tomcat directory with some details like below in the file. Anyone come across situation like this, Please advise.

Upgrading from BO XI,Crystal XI
reports were migrated using UMT.
Administror can run/view the crystal report based on universe both thru BI launch pad and directly thru the Crystal client software.Other BI launch Pad users are not able to either refresh the report or view instances.
As administartor can run/view the reports thru luanch pad, we can conclude that it can not be ODBC or migration issue.it seems like right issue.Can some one help with this.

Hi All-I am using BO 4.1 SP2 and Crystal 2013.While scheduling report thru bi launchpad there is an option to specify destination to email/file location.If you choose either one of the option you can see follow.In this Add placeholder,datetime option is available but there is NO date option.Is there a way i can add date to this placeholder list.Thanks.
Recently migrated from BO XI and Crystal XI to bo 4.1sp2 and Crystal 2013.The recurring crystal reports were migared to new environemnt and schulded to run 1st of the month.There are 300+ reports.The report detail says all these reports are schduled by Adminisatrtor because It was migrated by administartor account.
First of the month all reports failed and error is 'object failed to run due to insufficient security privileges.
And In the event viewer, there were warning from source BusinessObject_cms
"The security for the object identified by 41173 could not be verified during schedule attempt."
Can someone help me to find out the root cause of this issue.thanks.

I am login to Advance Analysis Office using sso with Authentication : Windows AD, but when i login errors occurs:
Client found response content type of 'text/html;charset=iso-8859-1', but expected 'text/xml'.

I have configured SSL successfully on Tomcat and SIA.
And i can login properly through CMC and BI Launchpad as well.
Next step was to configure Thick clients to use SSL.
I executed the sslconfig.exe on the server at the following command prompt:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64
using the following command:
sslconfig.exe -dir C:\SSL -mycert servercert.der -rootcert cacert.der -mykey server.key -passphrase passphrase.txt -protocol ssl
and it executed successfully and shows the proper files associated with each category:
even after this the thick clients like webi rich client and dashboard design are not able to logon to the server from client machines.
I copied the same C:\SSL folder from the server to my client machine and ran this command locally but it was not successful:

1. What should i do to make the thick clients logon to the server.
2. For IDT i edited the informationdesigntool.ini file and it worked fine but what to do for webi and dashboard design.
3. Will the SSL files from server work on the client machine or int his case i need to generate new ones. If i have to generate new ones then have all of them to be generated for the client machine or only some of them and how.
4. What should i do to be able to logon from iPad using https://<server>:8443 (which i currently cannot) after doing the SSL configuration and given that i am able to logon to cmc and launchpad using https.

We are facing some weird WebI report corruption issues.
Issue is specific to only one report so far. We have seen this issue usually when we save the report to enterprise or do Save as.
Report gets corrupted at both the places; local and in repository.
The report have 5 Tabs, 3 queries from same database, Cross Tab, and approximately
15 Dimensions and around 500 Measures (From 3 Queries same universe and database)
Variables: 70 Measures and 10 Dimensions (created on report level)
Error Message while opening the report:
This error is generic. however there is no relevant SAP note for this on SMP. Even in trace I could not find much relevant details:

Note: Change the extension of attached file to .zip and then extract

I have a particular issue with a report that contains 5 prompts, when I Refresh the report and quickly point, select, or otherwise refresh list of values and Run Query the report runs in a flash however if I wait for about 15 seconds as a new user might when thinking about the prompt values to select, when I then go to Refresh LOV or otherwise select the next prompt the Document hangs and I get the blue circle.
I am not getting a timeout because I can click on Home and reopen the report to continue. Any ideas if this is dropping the DB connection because of inactivity, etc? I cannot replicate this behavior I when open in Edit via the Java Report Panel only in Document View mode, and not all reports. This is causing issues with users as this is an important report they require.
