UNX over SAP BW using relational connection

We have BO 4.0 SP5 Patch 6 and using IDT for universe designing.

My question is whether or not Data Federator handles the single-source relational universe over SAP BW datasource

or DF only handles multi-source universes?  I am using a multiprovider (combines data from 2 infoproviders) as

a data source for my universe.  Is multiprovider considered a mutli-source since it combines data from multiple infoproviders.

I am not trying to combine data from SAP BW and anyother data source which is what multi-source universe does.

How to change Crystal Reports parameter/prompt layout in LaunchPad?

Hi Guys,

 

i´ve noticed something strange. We i open a Crystal Report 2013 in Designer and launch the report, i get some really great formated parameter prompts. The huge advantage from this great parameters is, you don´t have to insert a value in every parameter. Blank works like a *.

 

Now when i publish this report to BO and i access it from launchpad, i get a weired / ugly / old style prompt / parameter screen.

 

Attached you will find a screenshot of both, on the left the ugly ones and on the right the better ones.

 

Can some tell me, how do i change the paramater/prompts in the launchpad to the good layout. It´s really annoying to put a value in every parameters screen just to launch the crystal report.

 

We are using:

SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform Servers 4.1 SP03

SAP NetWeaver 7.40 SP5

BI_CONT 757

Crystal Report error on scrolling to next page

Hi guys,

 

when i open a Crystal Report (2013) in LaunchPad the first page is shown correctly. When i try to scroll down to a next page i get the following error:

 

The Viewer could not process an event. Error in File * : Database Connection Error: 'BAPI Error #:0 Part-field access *.

 

I´ve attached a screenshot of the whole error message.

 

Somebody has a clue, whats wrong?

 

We are using:

SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform Servers 4.1 SP03

SAP NetWeaver 7.40 SP5

BI_CONT 757

How to apply Default Settings globally BI Launchpad Workspaces for end users 4.1

Hello all, i would like to know how to apply globally default work spaces to end users.

I am using administrator account and try to apply default settings to everyone group but when i click right mouse button, it does not display on it it does the option BI Launchpad Preferences.

So, i would like to set the same work space for all users. i know that this new version 4.1 you must do it by user´s group but i can´t and i think there is no SAP note to resolve that problem.

Please let me know how to do it.

change crystal reports server port to 6405 from 8080

Hi: I recently deployed crystal reports server and the following works fine:

 

http://myserver.ubc.ca:8080/BOE/CrystalReports/viewrpt.cwr?id=8186&apsuser=Administrator&apspassword=mypass&apsauthtype=secEnterprise&promptex-Trans_ID=221

 

However, the applciation server that calls crystalreports specifies port 6405 in various places

distributed throughout.

 

How can I cause crystal reports to use port 6405 instead of port 8080.

 

I tried CMS/Server/Properties/autoassignoff, but that did not work.

I have a friend who is seeking a career in SAP technology.

His current platform in Database Production Support (Working with SQL Queries , Oracle and other database stuff).

 

So keeping his current working platform in mind, what will be suitable career wise and easier to learn among SAP BI BO/ BW /HANA ?

How to deploy BI web applications on weblogic using wdeploy tool

I have installed Information platform services 4.1 sp2 with using web container container service. Now i want to deploy all my web applications to weblogic.

I have created a domain using weblogic. i am using the port no. for that domain in wdeploy gui tool. but it is giving error attached below.

what should be entered into server instance ? and what should be the application server root directory ?

BO4 - Firefox + Plugin message

Hi,

 

User using bo4 fireffox and java 1.7.0.40 - how can bypass this message as don't want to have to update plugins as other application requires partiuclar version of java.

SAP BI 4.1 SP3 - Issue on WinAD/SSO

Hello All,

 

I need some idea where to investigate and solve my issue on SAP BI 4.1 SP3 using WinAD with SSO authentification.

 

Normally, all is correctly setup :

  • Service Account is created (already used on another service)
  • Service Account is running TomCat and SIA
  • We create ServiceAccount.keytab
  • We setup kbr5.ini

[libdefaults]

  default_realm = REALM

  dns_lookup_kdc = true

  dns_lookup_realm = true

  default_tgs_enctypes = rc4-hmac

  default_tkt_enctypes = rc4-hmac

  udp_preference_limit = 1

  • During Tomcat Boot, we obtain Credentials
  • kinit is ok
  • AD/SSO connection is OK using Designer (for instance)
  • AD/SSO connection is not working on launchPad :

SAP HPROF Logging File

Hi all,

 

I have facing the server storage issue.

The issue coming from BO 4 server logging file, especially HPROF log files (approximately take 1.2GB for each file) and quickly consume the server server storage.

 

So my questions are:

 

1. What is the cause to generate HPROF log file (eg: java-pid3848.hprof)?

 

2. Can I disable to generate  HPROF log file and how to do it?

 

3. Or how to prevent to generate HPROF log file?

 

4. How can I auto clear up the BO log file (either all log files or HPROF log file only) when meet certain condition (like the log file achieve certain memory size)?

SAP Business Objects 4.1 - American Date Format Issue

This issue is something that keeps arising, if your viewing a crystal report, or building a new Webi report in 4.1 and viewing it, the date format seems to come out as M/D/YYYY HH:MM:SS, this never happened in 4.0.

I will give an example, today I updated a 4.0 to 4.1 using the update path in a development server, and updated to 4.1 SP03 which is the latest. When I decided to write a Web Intelligence Report or create a Crystal report and publish this, all the date formats came out in American date format, and not the standard English one DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM:SS anymore. However if I go to the Live server which I haven't yet updated and is still on 4.0 SP04 Patch 11 and perform exactly the same its in English format as it always was.

Can someone please enlighten me to what has changed from 4.0 to 4.1 in terms of configuration regarding the date formats changing.

My server regional settings are English, and using the default GMT date time, so is my machine. 4.0 works 4.1 doesn't work the same.

I have tried changing the .prm files in the connectionserver\dataaccess folder as well, this doesn't seem to make a difference and also used LOV's in universe objects and when using these in prompts you get ameican format. I have also changed the preferences in the BI Launch Pad to view English locale and the GMT date time for Greenwich Mean Time. 

Please can someone advise or suggest where I am going wrong here and how to solve this.

MS access database prompting for username and password

Hello,

 

  When I try to run a crystal report that is connected to a (Access Database) from crystal server 2013, I get prompted for a username and password. Im not sure what im doing wrong, Ive tried creating a ODBC connection, change the SAP service to run under a domain user account, recreated the report with a different file path.  but still no luck, please help im at a lose.

IPS 4.1sp2 installed correctly but Central Configuration Manager Not working

I have installed Information platform services 4.1 sp2 on a windows server 2008 R2 Enterprise service pack 1 64 bit machine. It installed fine without any error but when i am trying to run Central configuration manager the it is giving me the following error. All Pre requisite were meeting during installation.

CMS is also not running . Please help.

.Net Framework 4.0 on XIR3.1 SP4

Hello Experts,

 

We have XIR3.1 SP4 on Windows 2008 R2 server with Tomcat 5.5

 

We have a need to install .Net Framework 4.0 on the server for some reason and I was wondering if anything would break or not?

 

Currently we have .Net Framework 3.5 installed and I looked up on the PAM document and .NET 4.0 is not listed. So, will installing .Net 4.0 on XIR3.1 SP4 break anything?

 

I have installed it on our Dev server and so far it it looks good. But this box does not have all the custom pages and dashboards so that I can be sure it works.

 

Any thoughts ?

DB2 support for Crystal Reports for Enterprise And Unx errors

Hi,

 

I have a requirement to create a report in CrystalReports for Enterprise 4 sourcing data from Oracle 11 and IBM DB2 V9 databases. My first approach is to create relational connections for both the databases in the BO Repository (using Universe designer) and use them directley in the CR for Enterprise. Here I was able to create the two connections but unable to use the DB2 connnection in the report. I get the below error:

"The Database DB2V9 is not supported".

Is DB2 is a supported database for Crystal reports for Enterprise ??

 

My second approach is to create a multisource universe using IDT. Here when I try to create the Datafoundation layer, I get to see the tables from the DB2 databasae but When I expand the Oracle connection, I get this error: "conversion from UTF8 to charset failed: encoding not loaded".

Im unable to create a multisource universe at all no matter what connections I use.

 

Here is some additional info:

SAP BI4.1 SP1

Windows 2008 R2 servers

Oracle 11g

IBM DB2 V9.7

 

Any suggestions please!

BICS connection in CMC BO 4.0 SP 8 & Single Sign ON

Hi All,

 

Created a BICs connection.

 

However my requirement is to give access to only two cubes and each cube should contain only 2 queries each.

 

For the option, connect to a server to choose a cube. Am able to select only one cube with a query.

 

Is there any way to achieve this.

 

 

Regarding Single Sign On

 

In the license tab i see only 10 licenses.

 

When i try to create a SSO to BW using SAP authentication. I do get only 2 users ( because other 8 users are created in BO). So altogether 10 users.

 

But there are many users in BW and i want only 7 specific users to be in bo.

 

Is there any relationship between licenses and SSO transfer of users.

 

Please guide me.
