BICS connection in CMC BO 4.0 SP 8 & Single Sign ON

Hi All,

 

Created a BICs connection.

 

However my requirement is to give access to only two cubes and each cube should contain only 2 queries each.

 

For the option, connect to a server to choose a cube. Am able to select only one cube with a query.

 

Is there any way to achieve this.

 

 

Regarding Single Sign On

 

In the license tab i see only 10 licenses.

 

When i try to create a SSO to BW using SAP authentication. I do get only 2 users ( because other 8 users are created in BO). So altogether 10 users.

 

But there are many users in BW and i want only 7 specific users to be in bo.

 

Is there any relationship between licenses and SSO transfer of users.

 

Please guide me.

Business Objects XI 3.1 SP4 Infoview and IE9 HTTP Status 400 - Invalid path

Hi There,

 

When I working in Infoview with IE9 32Bit or 64Bit and I right click on any object i.e Crystal Report, Folder, Webi Report etc. and select properties I get the following Error

 

HTTP Status 400 - Invalid path /PlatformServices/properties was requested

 

Has any one got a workaround or a solution for this problem.

 

Server - BOE XI 3.1 with SP4 running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit.

Client PC`s\Laptops  - Windows 7 64 bit

BO4 - Patching from 4.0 SP08 to BI 4.1 SP03 or fresh install and migrate content

Hi,

 

We are getting new hardware and at the same time want to move from BO4 SP08 TO BO 4.1 SP03.

 

We have 2 choices - either move the current virtual server onto the new physical host and patch the existing installation from BO4 SP08 to BO 4.1 SP03 or do a fresh installation of BO 4.1. SP03.

 

In some ways would like to do brand new fresh install on the live server and migrate the content from the old to the new server.

 

However we have a lareg number of reports and the lcmbiar option would be too slow based on previous experience seeing it takes long time to migrate reports.

 

Is there a quicker way - one way I thought about was using the upgrade management tool - would thi sbe possible.

 

Export all the content to biar and reimport thebiar file.

 

understand cannot use upgrade management tool unless diffferent versions but given we are moving from bo4 to bo 4.1 would this work?

 

Also heard there is a -noversioncheck switch can use - though not sure is supported.

 

Ideally want to keep any downtime to a minimum as this is a live system.

Crystal Reports stopped saving.

Hi,

I've been opening, working on and saving crystal reports (to and from BO 4.0 Enterprise) all day yesterday and part of today without any problems. Suddenly I get and error message when trying to save saying "Invalid Pointer".

 

Strangely I now also get an error message when I open up my BI Launchpad. This says:

com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ByteArray cannot be cast to com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.PropertyBag (LO 26000)

 

Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong and how do I fix it.

Prerequisite missing - BO 4.0 SP2 installation

Hi folks ,

 

The unpacking of the BO 4.0 archieve was successful but while running the setup is showing one prerequisite missing ( Check suppressed reboot state ). I have installed all the prerequisites and none of the files in the installation directory are locked. even restarting the server didn't help (done as per the installation guide).

 

Please help ?

Not able to view crystal reports on SAP BI Platform 4.0

We are having crystal report server which is hosted on private DMZ

Report are accesible from intranet but when we are trying to view same report on internet its thrwoing error - "could not connect to server"

Background:

- We have upgraded from crystal report Xi to BI platform 4.0 crystal report.

Olap Universe(unv) Custom Expression

I have olap universe and a Date filed, I changed that filed to Character so i could get on Date Part not full timeStamp. as you see in screenshot below , i am looking for some expression so i could format my output to 20140102 to 2014/02/01  or 02/01/2014.

BI4.1 SP2 Dashboards Display Blank Page from Netweaver Portal iView

Hi there!

 

We upgraded to BI 4.1 SP2 and having strange problem with Internet Explorer (ver 8,9,10) displaying just a blank page

when trying to launch a dashboard from a Netweaver portal iview.  Netweaver is 7.3.1 Sp7

 

The odd thing is that Chrome and Firefox correctly display the dashboard from the portal

 

IE will display the dashboard from the BI Launch Pad correctly.

 

So we checked the BOE server and that our SAP BW roles are imported and the folder permissions are correct

All the BOE servers are started and we have restarted the server intelligence agent and tomcat services with no luck.

Nothing has changed in the netweaver portal

 

To confirm it is not a single sign on issue, we tried with a webi doc and it displays correctly from with the NW portal iview.

 

 

I reviewed the BI4.1 admin guide again to be sure we didn't miss any post install steps

Configure the web server to show an alias name instead the hostname in the URL

Hi,

 

I'm trying to configure BO to publish it using an alias intead the hostname of the CR server when you access via web browser.

 

Here is an example:

 

When I run the request to run reports from an application that use BO the browser show this in the address bar:

 

http://Server_name:8080/BOE/CrystalReports/viewrpt.cwr

 

But because some external clients of my company access this application via Internet and because some obvious restrictions of the security team, the address bar in the web browser should show this:

 

https://app.mycompany.com/BOE/CrystalReports/viewrpt.cwr

 

I already have the certificate installed and issue by a public trusted root CA. The internal and external (public) dns entry is in place and pointing to the correct location.

 

Can some one help me configuring this? Thanks in advance.

Availability of Runtime Statistics and Passing to Reports/DB Tables

Hi,

We're hoping to improve Crystal Report performance, and in order to do so, we're hoping runtime statistics or monitoring is logged.

Are runtime statistics (Crystal Reports Pass 1/Pass 2 start time/elapsed time/finish time, as well as the individual server nodes' performance) logged when an instance of a crystal report is run? If so, are there default directories such as /logging, /auditing that exist? Or does this have to be configured?

Can these statistics be passed into the report when it runs as a formula or command, or maybe a script be produced to be used to update an Audit Table for example?

Recurring Publications to Email fails

Hi All,

 

We recently upgraded to BI4.0  SP8Patch2 and since then have been having some issues with publications scheduled to email destinations. We have a publication based on a webi report, scheduled to email destination. One time runs are fine but if its a recurring instance then we get the error as "

Distribution to destination CrystalEnterprise.Smtp (To: abc@xyz.com)  failed. Recipient: johndoe, Document Scope: . File Failed to download files for destination with index [1]. not found on File Repository Server. (FBE60013)

2014-04-10 22:09:51,818 ERROR [PublishingService:HandlerPool-82] "

 

We have email destination enabled in all the job servers and have two APS containing Publishing services and Post Publishing service.

 

Any inputs will be highly appreciated.

Tomcat Redirection through DNS Alias

Hi,

 


We've just upgraded from BOE XI 3.1 SP2 to SP6 FP 6.3 which also upgraded Tomcat 5 to Tomcat 7.

 

We used to access InfoViewApp using an alias in Tomcat 5. E.g https://wuinsights.wuintranet.net/

 

This site redirects to https://wuinsights.wuintranet.net/InfoViewApp/logon.jsp and displays the InfoView Login Page.

 

Since the upgrade to Tomcat 7, the redirection is not working anymore. It fails to load the page throwing the error: "Internet explorer cannot display the page."

 

Direct link to Tomcat however works fine i.e https://<servername>:8443/ redirects to https://<servername>:8443/InfoViewApp/logon.jsp (set on the ROOT folder using index.html)

 

We are not using Apache Redirector (httpd).

 

I've checked the old server.xml file but could not find any entry of wuinsights.wuintranet.net in the <HOST> or <Engine> parameters.

 

Ping, telnet to wuinsights.wuintranet.net resolves to the IP address of the Tomcat Server.

 

Could anyone please let me know where/which file do we set this redirection in Tomcat?

Need information regarding License

concurrent User license=Unlimited

Named User License=Unlimited

Purchased processes License =1

 

Here Come my Question :

 

The Windows box where the BO server is Installed is a QUAD-CORE processes is the above license restrict the use of availability of MULTI-CORE  CPU?

BO 4.1 Upgrade crystal report prompt doesn't work

Hi,

 

after migration to BO 4.1 we got a problem with crystal reports prompts.

 

Values are shown, when there are less than 10 values in the variable.

 

e.g. variable witch includes Jan-Dec is not shown only after filtering in Bex Jan-Sep

 

Are there any settings in BO?

Setting up SSL in BI 4.1

Hello Colleagues,

 

I am trying to setup SSL in BI 4.1. In the Admin guide we have the first step as :

 

8.13.2 Setting up SSL when the certificate is managed by a certificate authority

When setting up SSL for server communication, follow these steps if the certificate is managed by a

certificate authority.


1. Export your desired certificate with its private key to PKCS #12 (.PFX) format. This will be used as the certificate for the certificate authority.

 

What does this mean? Do I need the CA certificate with its Private key?

 

If I have private key of the CA then I can behave as the CA itself!

 

Normally I generate my CSR and get it signed from the CA and then import both signed server cert + CA cert. Then SSL should work.

How to Burst Crystal reports to user Inboxes in BI 4.0

We have been bursting crystal reports using dynamic recipients (using crystal report as recipient file) to external email ids.

 

How do we burst the outputs to their BO Inboxes? We found documentation around Webi report bursting to enterprise recipients, but it involves creating profiles and using universe objects.

 

We do not deal with Webi or Universes currently.

Effects of service account change in windows AD

Hi BO Gurus,

 

I installed SAP BOE 4.1 SP2 for my client and then implemented Windows AD on the platform using same service account.

Now due to comply with some regulations my client wants to change the service account and its password everywhere in BO -

 

I will have to change it

- Under CCM --> SA --> 'Log in as' account information

- ODBC data source connection

- Windows AD

 

Could you please let me know if I need to implement all windows AD again using the new service account?

What are all the steps and precautions that need to be followed while changing service account?
