Discrete value textbox appear

Hi,

 

I posted this in Crystal Report section before but the technical guy can't help and advise to post it here. I have problem with discrete parameter textbox that appear after select 2nd multiple value parameter. I load the file programmatically and it will display all parameters for user selection. But after the user select the multiple value, a textbox will appear below the parameter that the user selected, the value in the textbox will be value that already selected previously from the multiple parameter, this is very annoying. I think it's because the page refresh and the value selected previously lost causing CR to ask for the value again. Can anyone help how to display parameters properly without asking the user to select (multiple values) and enter (discrete value) for same parameter. Thanks in advance.

BO BI 4.0 SP6 OLAP Connection

Hi,

 

   In my landscape we are going to install BOBI 4.0 sp6 and its a fresh installation. And we are planning to use OLAP connection for BICS connectivity between BO and BW. Am quite new to this kind of connections. I want to know the procedure to make connection between BO and BW. After the insatllation of BOBI, can i directly create a OLAP connection or before that i want to make any settings between BO and BW, if so please let me know the proper step by step methods. Kindly help me in this.

Several reports are delayed every weekend using Business Objects

Hello, we have about five reports which are scheduled to run anytime between 2 AM to 4 AM.

However, these particular ones always got created after 7:30 AM EST.

 

On Weekday, these reports run within 5 minutes.  I investigated our server log to see any competing process run during that time but no luck.

 

If you could provide me any insight, please do.

BI 4.1 Auditing Database in SQL Anywhere

Greetings,

 

I upgraded our 4.1 and changed Auditing set to SQL anywhere. the question is how to create a connection in Information Design Tool to the new database? I installed the client tools in another machine but no ODBC driver for SQL Anywhere. Found ODBC driver in Sybase but needed to pay. Is there anywhere i can download JDBC or ODBC driver for free?

Tomcat 6 (BI 4.0) : WARNING: Problem with directory

Hi,

 

I installed SAP BI 4.0 on Windows 2008 R2 Machine with SQL server. It was installed one one directory (E:\BO4 ). Later dues to some reason I uninstalled it and re-installed. To avoid issues, I installed this time under directory E:\BO41. Now after installed I could not get tomcat started. when checked the log, It was showing below warning. I observed that even though I insatlled in different directory, it is still trying to find libraries from old path. Therefore not starting

I checked

1) Path env variable. This does not have any links to old directory

2)  JAVA_HOME, JRE_HOME, these are not explicitly created but those are getting set correctly Runtime. and those are correct.

 

I cannot find out where exactly it is hard coding the path and how I can get tomcat to read current/new path.

 

any quick responses will be appreciated.

RDT Windows Command

I am trying to run the Repository Diagnostic Tool from a Windows Command Prompt, but I am having a couple of issues.

My steps so far are:

1) open CMD and change directory to:C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64

2) I hand enter everything below on one line or I also tried typing it in notepad and pasting it in there so I can get the format you see below which is the way I always see it being done in guides.

reposcan.exe

-dbdriver sqlserverdatabasesubsystem

-connect "UID=boeuser;PWD=mypassword;DSN=BusinessObjects CMS 140"

-inputfrsdir "C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\FileStore\Input"

-repair false

 

The problem is that it will run the reposcan.exe and then it displays the possible uses for the reposcan.

Then it shows an error msg for each parameter that I have entered as if it does not recognize them as parameter values.

Migrating .car Reports from XI R2 to 4.0 - Possible?

Hi All,

 

We are currently in the midst of migration from XI R2 to 4.0 SP5.

One task that needs to be done is to migrate some .car reports that are pointing to MS Analysis cubes in SQL Server 2000.

 

I have been researching the topic and I can't find anything on the topic of whether the import wizard would convert those report types.

Also I don't think current connectivity options allow for connections to SQL Server 2000.

 

Can anyone confirm this? I have only seen bits and pieces on other sites and nothing concrete.

 

Assuming that migration is not possible, what is the best tool in the current 4.0 landscape to mimic this OLAP functionality? Web Intelligence?

 

Any insight or information would be much appreciated.

IFRS deletion.criteria-guid?

I have been trying to clean The Input FRS folder for a couple of months now and I need to know if someone can explain this.

What is this file deletion.criteria-guid[864fg8g84-f4f8-43d6-9246-sh84fg5s35f4f4].list 123465 465465

Is there a way I can delete/clean a bunch of this up?

Almost every folder that I dig down into, this file is all I find.

Incremental Upgrade From Crystal Server 2008 SP1 to SP6

I am planning to upgrade our Crystal Reports Server 2008 SP1 to SP5 (or SP6 if that is now the current version).

(Windows Server 2003 32-bit)

 

 

I have tested running the upgrade (CRSRV05_0-10008663.EXE - recommended from another message) on our test server, but it is telling me that our installed version is too low (our product version says 12.1.0.882)

I have downloaded multiple copies of multi-gigabyte installers from the SAP support website, which turned out to be either full installers, or that tell me my installed version is too low. I have found conflicting answers about how to upgrade to the latest service pack and have started to become frustrated.

 

Is there an incremental upgrade that will take me from SP1 to SP5 (or SP6)?

 

Or what is the recommended upgrade path to get to the latest service pack?

I wouldn't think I should need to do a full install just to upgrade to a service pack.

CR2011 Reports in BOXI 2008: Connection issues

Hi all,

 

We currently are attempting to import reports created with CR2011 into BO XI 3.1 (SP5) and are running into database connection issues. Some details about our setup:

  • Report development:
    • Done in CR2011 on a Windows 7 (32-bit) workstation
    • Connection to database is through ODBC (we also tried OLE DB) using native Windows authentication
    • All reports work perfectly locally.
  • Publishing:
    • BO XI 3.1 SP5 server is running on Windows 2008 R2 (64-bits)
    • The SIA process runs under a system account. We made sure this account has read access to the database.
    • A 32-bit ODBC driver is set up on the server with the same name as the one saved with the report.
    • Because of the version mismatch between CR and BO XI, we have to import the reports manually in CMC. When doing so:
      • If we leave the database connection settings to those saved with the report, the connection is refused (Database logon information incomplete or incorrect)
      • If we overwrite the connection settings to those defined in the ODBC driver, the connection is also refused
    • When we open the report in CR2011 but on the server machine:
      • It works as planned.
      • If we overwrite the database connection with the ODBC one defined locally on the server, it also works correctly.
    • If we save the report modified in the previous step and then try to import it manually as before, everything fails again.

 

We are out of ideas about what to try next. We feel the problem is either an incompatibility between CR2011 and the CR2008 inside BO XI 3.1, or else it's a 32- vs. 64-bit issue with the database drivers.

 

Either way, we are failing miserably. Any help appreciated.

WebI XI 3.1 SP 3 View On Demand v.s. Scheduling

Hello,

 

One of our customer has the following problem, when he try to refresh on demand a web intelligence report the refresh never finish, but if he tries to refresh document by scheduling it, the document is correctly finish and refresh.

 

We saw that several sessions are active, so we tryied to increase the Number of connexion (25 -> 50) and the number of document per user (5 -> 10) for each WebIPorcessingServer (2 in total). But, this not solve for problem.

 

Do you have an idea on how we can trace and solve that problem?

 

Note,

     the problem is not a database issue.

     the cutsomer has enough licences

     until now, the platform works correctly.

BI Launch Pad Home Tab

Hi,

 

I would like to personalize the home tab of the BI Launch Pad by having a workspace that would link directly to some folders.

 

I was thinking inlcuding in my BI workspace an HTML page or a dashboard design with URLs that would automatically direct the user to the folder tab at the folders wished. My issue is that I don"t know how I can create a link that would point to a BO folder.

 

Any idea?

Using opendocument to access folder structure

Hi Guys,

 

Can v link a folder present in InfoView through OpenDocument?

I mean the user wants to see all the reports in a folder.

 

I no that the purpose of using OpenDocument is to avoid navigation to the folder structure.

But can v do it for folders ? There a possiblity?

Moving from Crystal Reports from one PC to another

Our MIS staff has been using an old XP computer to use the Crystal Reports Scheduler on.  The hard drive on that machine is going bad.  And it has convinced them to move to the newest Crystal Report Server that we are installing on a VMWare Server.  But, with the hard drive going bad, we have been unable to get a good back up or clone the machine.  The software is working fine with exception of hanging at times.  They have several hundred reports scheduled on this machine.  We have tried to back up the system, clone the drive and P2V the system, all fail at the bad blocks area of the old XP machine.  So, our idea is to create another XP machine (I know, I know), and install the old version of hte Crystal Reports Scheduler on that machine and then move the Crystal Database files from that old machine to the new one, assuming the bad blocks do not stop us from doing that.  Will this work and what files do we need to transfer over from the old XP machine to the new (I know, I know) XP machine?  Or are there some instructions somewhere on how to do this?

 

Our End Gola is to get a machine with the crystal system up and going and upgrade it to a version where we can transfer all the scheduled reports into our new server.

Auditing in crystal reports

Hi All,

 

My auditing is enabled but when in go into CMC (Audit folder) and  into Average Refresh Time--> Average Refresh Time-By document and give parameters and execute it ; it is saying as "Error in File 1. Average Refresh Time by Document: The table could not be found. " and when i click on universe and see particular universe(Check relationship) i am not able to see that it is empty . Not only this report all reports are unable to open?1.png.

in CMC i have given(Database Configuration) :

 

Server Name: DSN Name

Databse: Database name as in server (Sql Server)

Username and password as in database.

 

Please tell me where i have gone wrong?
