infinite session for BI Platform SP04

Hi,

 

We are experiencing issues in BI Platform SP04 (Version 14.1.4.1327).

 

The issue is that whenever the Session has timed out in BI Launchpad, and the user clicks on OK button in the "Session has expired" pop-up notification, multiple sessions are being created for that user until it maxed out the limit.

 

This issue is the same as described in infinite session for single user SAP BIBO 4.1 SP4 patch2 but in one of the comments there , the issue raised was using BO SP4 Patch 2, and the last comment said that it was fixed with the same SP and Patch so now im confused.

 

Any ideas on how to get this resolved? Also, are there any threads / sap notes for this bug?

We would like users to connect to SAP BO platform from sharepoint using BW authentication.

 

Does anyone have the experience of implementing Single sign on for microsoft share point using SAP BW authentication in BI platform. Documents that I have seen suggested only these options.

LDAP

Active Directory and

Enterprise.

Removing Crystal Reports option from Launch Pad User Preferences

Hello,

 

I am Getting

"SMTP Error Code : <530>. For more information, see your SMTP server manual" error, While configuring SMTP in Data Services 4.0 system. I have tried executing the SMTP_TO function on another DS machine which has 3.2 verion installed, but getting the same error.

 

FYI,

1) Able to telnet the Exchange server through Data service machine

2) Maintained SMTP settings in Data services server manager

3) using the same SMTP server host name in other SAP systems (ECC,BI,PI) etc and able to send mails.

Linus OS patching on BusinessObjects cluster

Hi all

 

We have a BusinessObjects 4.1 service pack 2 cluster consisting of 2 nodes running on top of Redhat Linux 6.5. We need to start patching the Linux operating system on the 2 nodes. I read the administrator guide that we need to do backups before applying the OS patches. What is the best practice in applying the cluster?

 

Is it ok to patch the OS on one node first, reboot the first node and then do the other node? Or the OS patches have to be applied to both nodes at the same time and then reboot? Any specific start up and/or shutdown sequence/procedures?

 

I found a doc SBOP BI 4.x cluster patching Guide, but this document seems to pertain to BusinessObjects patches instead of OS. And I cannot find any doc that describes specifically on OS patches.

CMC Login Problems

Hi guys,

 

I encounter this error when attempting to log into the CMC:

 

"Error: Server SERVER:6400 not found or server may be down (FWM 01003) null"

 

I did some research and most people advised checking that the CMC service was running. So I have checked the Central Configuration Manager. Its status says that it's started. But I restarted the service just be sure. The Tomcat service is also started.

 

 

I checked the Event Viewer on the server and see the following warning;

 

"The CMS cluster seems to be missing the Server Intelligence objects for this Server Intelligence Agent."

 

"No servers were found in the CMS for this Server Intelligence Agent."

 

I would like to avoid having to reinstall Business Objects if I can.

 

Can anyone suggest what I can try to resolve this issue?

Live Office Upgraded - Now Some Report Conversion Problems

Doing a upgrade and migration from BOBJ XI to 4.1 and have hit a roadblock with Live Office giving me some odd issues:

 

Old Setup:

  • Live Office XI (11.5.8.826)
  • Within Citrix
  • Excel 2007
  • Configured to use old server
  • working fine

New Setup:

  • Live Office 4.1 SP5 Patch 4 (14.1.5.1634)
  • Excel 2010
  • Configured to use new server
  • Not Citrix (yet)

 

 

In the new LO, I can create new queries in a new and also allows me to bring in Web Intelligence data into a new document.

If I create a workbook in the old environment containing a Webi table, it will convert into the new LO format and refresh within the new LO setup.

If I create a workbook in the old environment containing a table based on a query, it will not open convert within the new LO setup. It gives the following error:

 

Failed to upgrade this object (LO 01400) (LO 01400) while trying to invoke the method java.lang.String.split(java.lang.String) of a null object loaded from a local variable at slot 3


and


Failed to upgrade this object (LO 01400) (LO 01400)

Invalid Pointer

 

 

Any advice or direction would be a big help!

BO 4.x Installation Error in Windows 2008

hi experts,

 

we are trying to install the BO 4.1, it is showing as Prerequisite of BI Platform server 4 installation failed in the initial page of the installation, so we downloaded the BO 4.0 SP10 and tryed to install but still receiving the same error(BI Platform server 4 installation failed) in our windows 2008.

 

I am not able to find the BO 4.0 server version without any SP version,

initial version in the  Service market place showing as BO 4.0 SP00 Patch10 , I need to try this initial version, this will install and work without any issue?  kindly guide me how to proceed here,

Custom user attribute as an email placeholder?

Hi,

 

I have a custom user attribute imported from AD let's call it a SI_CUSTOM_ATTRIBUTE, based on it I would like to build an email address to send a publication to, something like %SI_CUSTOM_ATTRIBUTE%@domain.name.com , however while providing custom attribute name I'm not receiving the SI_CUSTOM_ATTIBUTE value (attribute is imported correctly and I can see the value in the user properties), I imagine that custom attributes might be accessed differently than other default placeholders.

Do you know a syntax for a custom attribute placeholder that could be used in this case? If I would be refering to the attribute in the webi report it would be @Variable('SI_CUSTOM_ATTRIBUTE'), but how to refer to it in the email properties?

Are there standard roles that are available for us to copy and assign to the different kinds of BO users - ie, BO Consumer, BO Publisher, etc?

 

Does anyone know where we can get best practice strategies for setting up BO roles?

List of disabled user in 3.1

Hi,

 

I am trying to get list of Disabled users in BOBJ XI 3.1.

 

I ran the following query in query builder

 

Select SI_NAME,SI_DESCRIPTION,SI_ALIASES from CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS where SI_KIND='User'

 

This will return me with all the details of alias as

 

SI_ALIASES 1 SI_NAME secEnterprise:Guest

                        SI_DISABLED true

                        SI_ID secEnterprise:#11

 

           SI_TOTAL 1

 

But am not so sure how to query into si_aliases >> si_total >> si_disabled = true.

 

Please advice.

BI4.1 SP6 New Install - CMC and BI Launchpad issues

I have just completed a new install of BI4.1 SP6 for a client, but I'm seeing a number of issues in the CMC and BI Launchpad:

 

Logging in to the CMC, it looks like the login is good (the authentication screen goes away) and then this error appears in a pink box at the top of the screen:

    

while trying to invoke the method
com.businessobjects.swd.shared.actioncache.ICafAction.getProperty(com.businessobjects.swd.shared.actioncache.PropertyKey)
of a null object loaded from local variable 'action'

    

The URL at this point is: http://localhost/BOE/CMC/1507281554/admin/App/appService.jsp

  

 

I am able to log in to BI Launchpad with no problems.  However, the Preferences, Help menu, and Logoff buttons at the top don’t do anything.
The only option on the right-click menu for a report is “Details” and selecting it throws this error: 

    

This error occurred: com.businessobjects.swd.shared.actioncache.RelationshipKey@7a2e3bb8: 4336

    

I’m not seeing anything in the Tomcat logs that would indicate a problem.

 

Doing a Repair install didn't fix the problem and using wdeploy to redeploy the website didn't either.

 

Any thoughts?

Can't Log into BOE

I am trying to maintain a Crystal Reports 2011 installation. I didn't write the reports nor set up the instance. All reports and BOE are on the same machine. I can no longer log into the Business Objects Repository even though the machine name, user, password and authentication method of Enterprise have been input. The only thing that has changed is that the Win 2008 server, which resides on AWS, has been upgraded, which changed the internal address of the machine. Is that the potential problem and where would this be fixed?

DFO Files Don't Install

I'm working on installing the BI Platform on a Windows Server 2012 SP2 system for a client.  I've tried this full install (not upgrade) with both SP6 and SP5 with the same results.

 

Symptoms:

- The install finishes with errors.

- The install log notes that 5 DFO files failed to install.

 

  BusinessObjects_ClientAction_Import_User_Group_DBCredential_History_dfo.xml

  BusinessObjects_ClientAction_ObjectPackage_History_CMC_dfo.xml

  BusinessObjects_ClientAction_ObjectPackage_History_IV_dfo.xml

  BusinessObjects_ClientAction_Publication_History_CMC_dfo.xml

  BusinessObjects_ClientAction_Publication_History_IV_dfo.xml

 

- These same files are in <INSTALL_DIR>\setup\packagestemp.

- When I try to log in to the CMC, I see this error:  while trying to invoke the method com.businessobjects.swd.shared.actioncache.ICafAction.getProperty(com.businessobjects.swd.shared.actioncache.PropertyKey)
of a null object loaded from local variable 'action'
- When I log in to BI Launchpad, I can see the reports in the folders but the only thing I can do with them is view the details, but that throws an error.

how to batch deploy crystal reports to BO BI platform 4.1?

It is a very painful process to deploy 300+ Crystal Reports to BO BI platform 4.1. The deployment has to be done one by one.

 

 

Two main issues for us, which makes the reports deployment by batch impossible.

 

1. To updating database connections of the reports and their dynamic cascading prompts for 300+ reports, one by one using crystal report designer (for report itself) and business view manager (for dynamic cascading prompt)

    1. Database server name
    2. Database name
    3. Username
    4. Password

 

               The development, QA, UAT and production databases are in different servers and different networks.

 

 

2. The dynamic cascading prompts are messing up. If two reports have dynamic cascading prompt under the same name, it will overwrite each other and the dynamic cascading prompt will not work.

 

Currently workaround for us is:

After the report is deployed, manually create a folder under the same name as the report and manaully drag and drop each dynamic cascading prompt (4 object per prompt) into the folder.    

 

That means, we can only upload one report at a time, move the dynamic cascading prompts into folder to avoid conflict, and then upload the next report.

 

 

 

 

Is there a better way to update the database connections by batch?

Is there any way to avoid the dynamic cascading prompt conflict between different reports?

Dashboard on Infocube in SOLMAN

The BO server alerts have already been configured in SOLMAN so the integration part is done.

 

I want to know how from BO can i connect to the Infocube.

Incremental Upgrade

Hi Experts,

 

We are in the process of conducting an incremental upgrade for our Clustered Production System.

 

Could you please let me know at what point the members who are a part of administrator should be promoted ? We are planning to promote users and folders associated to them or vice versa.

 

Also could you please let me know what could be repercussions if we first promote folders and then the users?
