I have been looking for documentation with the best process for backing up and restoring necessary files regarding our Crystal Server 2013 installation, including complete server disaster recovery. Unfortunately, no luck in finding any good documentation with recommended procedures far.
Is this information available from SAP or can anyone suggest the best strategy for backups and restore of Crystal Server 2013?

It seems that the WebTier is on hostA, BI Processing Tier is on hostB.
I am assuming that while installing the BI Processgin tier on hostB, a cluster name was given called "BODevCluster".
Correct?
At last, in the "BusinessObjects BI System Configuration" section they are configuring something so that both can talk to each other.
Questions -
1. I am assuming that configuration is done on hostA where the WebTier (Tomcat is installed). Is it correct?
2. Is it applicable to BI 4.1 SP1 as well and is there any guide, which talks about it so that instructions becomes sort of official.
3. In the configuration, all it is doing is to replace the servername:port with cluster name.
How is it going to find out that this cluster "BODevCluster" resides on hostB. How the Tomcat will find out that the cluster "BODevCluster" belong to hostB because the hostname of HostB is not mentioned in any of the the files during configuration (BIlaunchpad.properties, CmcApp.properties , CrystalReports.properties, OpenDocument.properties).
The questions may be very basic for some but I am trying to understand the very basic of Tomcat clustering as it is very new to me in comparison to SAP Netweaver 7.x clustering. I could not find it in installation guide or Admin guide.

I recently installed the demo version of Crystal Server 2013 on a 64-bit Windows 2012 R2 server. The install did not complete successfully.
I would now like to uninstall this.
I followed steps 1-5 to uninstall Crystal Server on page 55 of the Installation Guide. When I attempt step 6, nothing happens. No other dialog windows are displayed as referenced in steps 6 & 7.
I called the SAP Sales Support team, and they referred me here.
Please let me know next steps for uninstalling.

CRE report , while running in BI Launch pad - SAP BO4.0 I am getting the below error :
The necessary security privileges could not be verified. [R21ADAPTJ5043] [RASLIB9002] [CRSDK00000813] ---- Error code:0 [CRWEB00000119]
But the same report is running fine in Crystal reports Enterprise client -SAP BI BO4.0 ,

we have 2 clustered machine on which BO is installed and we are using tomcat as a web application server.
Error:-
While searching in BI launchpad an error is coming "An error occured while searching:A
java.lang.StringIndexOutofBoundsException occured;original exception message:string index out of range : -1"

I have installed Crystal Server 2013 onto Windows Server 2012. I originally installed 32 bit Oracle client for Crystal report connectivity. This was working fine until I wanted to use Crystal 4 Enterprise which needs 64 bit drivers. After installing 64 bit client the 32 bit was rendered useless. I have tried many combinations and complete clean re-installs, but whichever one is installed last kills the other one.
One of the biggest issues is that I am unable to open the Oracle Net Manager for the client installed first.
Is there a proven way to set this up?
FYI... This is only for the connectivity of the clients and reporting tools. No audit or CMS DB is being used with Oracle.

We are currently running a split deployment of BusinessObjects XI 3.1, to service an estimated 500 users. The servers are running Windows 2003 Standard, but connect to an IBM AIX server hosting the Data Warehouse.
We are looking towards upgrading to BusinessObjects XI 4.1, and I want to know what other community users are using for the Web Application, and what they recommend for best performance. We currently use IBM Websphere Application 8.5.5.0:

Our organisation is planning to switch to Microsoft PDW from the existing backend Teradata.
I searched many articles to know whether Microsoft PDW is supported by SAP Business Objects or not. However I have not been successful in obtaining any useful information about the same.
I couldn't check the latest PAM till now. Will check it tomorrow morning. However the last PAM of SAP BI 4.1 (base pack) did not had mention of PDW support as backend for webi reporting or any type of SAP reporting.
I was successful in getting a blog post in microsoft forums which mentioned availability of PDW connectors with SAP Business Objects
Its a single line mention in the blog, so read the blog carefully 
I am raising this query to know from SAP members whether there are any plans of support availability for Microsoft PDW in upcoming Support Packages of SAP BI 4.1.

We are going to setup SSO in our BO 4.0 Environment with default Tomcat and Windows AD.
We already have Windows Ad authentication set up in our environment. As I am learning about SSO now, I understand that there are two options for SSO with Windows AD:
1) Vintela
2) Siteminder.
Can anyone please share experience with either Vintela or Siteminder ? Any issues or advantages for one over the other option ?

Hi All,
We are performing upgrade of our BO reports from 3.1 to 4.1 SP04. We have set of Crystal reports also to perform the upgrade.
After upgrading the reports from 3.1 to 4.1 i.e from CR 2008 version to CR 2013 we are facing a issue with "List of values" of those reports.
for Eg: if the original report in 3.1 is listing 100 LOV's the same report after upgrading to 4.1 is not listing all the LOV's it shows only 60-70 LOV's.
Similarly we are not facing this issue with all the reports, the issue lies with only few reports. we are upgrading the report to 4.1 with all of dependents even then we are observing the same behaviour. we have opened the report in CR 2013 and try refreshing, there also the list was less. We opened the BVM and verified all the connection details, schedule details of the LOV's but still facing the same.
Please provide your inputs on this.

When ever User try to make any changes to Preference from infoview , its settings are not being saved.
No Errors are logged in any of the BOXI log files.
ENV: BOXI 3.1 sp7
IE: 9
Any Suggestion highly appreciated.

As an Administrator, it has not been part of my role to create BusinessObjects Universes or reports. However with trying to organise an upgrade from 3.1 to 4.1, we need to get away from using Desktop Intelligence.
There are many Desktop Intelligence reports on our network drives, that I want to convert to Web Intelligence using the Report Conversion Tool. I have read that any existing object definition links need to be unlinked before conversion, if someone could please confirm this. If I do need to unlink all of the objects in a Desktop Intelligence report, how I can confirm what they are currently linked to, so I can relink them again after conversion ?

I'm configuring SSO using trusted auth between SAP Portal and BO, to recall an Iview ( OpenDocument ) without to be prompted for insert user and pass.
I followed the BI Administration guide applying corrections suggested into SAPNote 2075905, but mechanism still not works!
Is unclear and not properly documented if I have to modify and how, the web.xml under infoview or opendocument folder as I read in some thread.
Any advice is appreciated.

I figured out the ODBC drivers.
You have to use the ODBC 32 bit Manager not 64 bit.
So I have successfully connected
from the ODBC Manager and SQL Developer.
I am trying to publish my
Crystal Reports via Crystal Server.
Below is the Database
configuration page for the Crystal Server. It is not connecting to Oracle database when I open my report.
I get the login screen for the Oracle Database but when I enter my User Name and Password it just keeps coming back to the login screen.
Any ideas on what I am missing
in this setup that might work?

We fixed the problem with our odbc connections and fixed the auditing as a result.
Now .. The local Microsoft SQL administrator has advised me that 'user tables' under master are crushing my system.
I'm guessing that the tables in the master database (dbo.ADS_APPLICATION_TYPE_STR, dbo.ads_auditee, etc .....) are the audit tables and are fillign up my space in the system.
is there a way to minimize what is getting written to them?
Could some type of trace also be running which is forcing this environment to generate so much traffic?

We have BI 4.1 and SAP BW 7.3.
And we have scenario that we need to setup SSO between BW system and BI4.1 as we are going to call OpenDocument urls from SAP BW .
Initially user logs into BW, go to custom transaction, and from there opendocument URL will be called by user clicking.
When a user clicks on the URL appears the authentication screen of OpenDocument with secEnterprise Username/password.
We have configured the SAP authentication on our BusinessObjects system towards the SAP BW system and imported the roles from the BW system. We have done it with follow steps:

Is it possible to setup a SAP Logon ticket which is passed to SAP BI 4.1 to enable SSO?

Hi All,
I came to a halt while scheduling web intelligence reports based on file based events. The events are defined properly with server path and file name in CMC and the production run was made a few time in the last 2 days but the reports did not trigger consistently. To be precise, some events trigger fine in the 3rd attempt but others did not trigger the Schedule/report run process at all. Although, all the schedules are set up the same way in CMC with start time set before the trigger file (.txt) arrives the BOBJEvents folder on the server location .
BTW, does double clicking the Batch file in the BOBJEvents folder trigger the schedule based on that event ?? just wondering what the command prompt window does that pops up for a few seconds and vanishes when double clicking the Batch file.
Please help with your valuable inputs, I'd really appreciate any good advice on this.
