Business Objetcs & DRP

Hello experts,

 

I am currently working on the architecture design of an application using SAP BI4 and I am facing an issue with the DRP.

 

I have two datacenters which are separated (no SAN replication between the two sites, different IP ranges on each site, etc.). The only link between my datacenters allows me to do LAN replication (dataguard, rsync, etc.).

In case I lose my first datacenter, my application must be restored on my secondary site within a day (or less...).

 

So, in the first place I had thought of the following architecture :

On the first site, one "active" virtual machine (with Apache, SAP BI4 and Oracle as RDBMS).

On the second site, another "passive" virtual machine (same components)

Between the two : Database and file replication

 

But, a SAP consultor that I met told me that it wouldn't work because of an issue on BO. According to him, when you install BO, the software stores informations about the machine that runs the CMS (such as hostname or IP) in the CMS system databse.

So if you synchronize your database on another machine, you put informations about machine A on the machine B... And then it doesn't work !

Have you ever heard anything about that issue ?

If it is true, backup/restore from one server to another shouldn't work either, should they ? So how would the data loss be secured ?

 

Anyway, I am very worried about this issue so if you have any idea about how to implement a DRP solution don't hesitate :-)

For about a second, I thought of creating a BO cluster between my two sites but I believe that such a cluster wouldn't be technically possible...

How to increase number of pages/rows per report??

Hi,

 

we are sp4 p6

 

 

we are trying to execute report with 900 pages/ 900*100 rows per report

but when it exceeds 750 pages it ending up with error as "CORBA error while Communicating with SL Service"

 

Till last week we are good to extract 1769 pages of report but all of sudden now we are not able to extract more than 700 pages for same report

 

 

APS xmx  is good- so  no issues

 

 

Could some one tell us how to increase page limit in webi ?

Binary file created along with rpt file in inbox in CMC

We are delivering the rpt files as short cut  to user inbox  through publication. We are able to see only one short cut in infoview/cmc but when we checked in frsoutput folder , i can see both binary file and rpt file with same name and  same size. Due to this we are facing space issue in CMC and couldn't run the publication for more than 14 periods.

 

any one have an idea about the reason for binary file creation?

Migrate reports between Bo env.

Hi

 

We have two environment of BO 1. BO4SP2   2. BO4Sp6

Need to migrate reports from 1 to 2 i.e. BO4SP2  to BO4Sp6, Is UMT (upgrade managent tool) is best option for migration or is there any other way.

RSA1 could not start due dump

             I could not execute T.code : RSA1 due to dump error.that error is

"CALL_FUNCTION_CONNECT_ERROR" "

"SAPLRSAWB" or "LRSAWBU05"

"RSAWB_CHECKS_BEFORE_AWBSTART"

So please guide me solve that error.

Sessions remaining active in CMC

Hi

We are using  WebIntelligent and Explorer in BI 4.0. We have a combination of named and concurred users licenses and we use AD single sign on to log into both clients. Some users also have Enterprise alias to log in, as for example the administrators of the system.

 

Another thing to notice is that when we are working with Web Intelligent it tells us that the session has time out as I would normally expect.  However, although we have a timeout set up for when working with Web Intelligent,  I have noticed that the sessions remain in the system after the user stop using it. It happens with both Enterprise and AD log in.

 

1) With Enterprise: I have included an attachment. This is my user and I am an administrator of the system, I appear with 5 sessions although I am only log in once. In this case, the log in is using Enterprise authentication.

 

2) If I log in with SSO AD and close the windows without log out, and then log in again, the first session remains in the system for a long time.

 

I have seen the option "Windows SSPI Configuration"

 

Could you please let me know which parameters do we have to change?

Can't edit queries in launchpad when report has multiple queries

I am unable to edit report queries when the report is made up of more than one query.    I am using Launchpad .Can you please guide me.

BusinessObjects Dynamic Parameter

Hi ,

 

We have Business Objects XI. We have not been able to get any reports with dynamic parameters to load.

 

All other reports load fine. Do you have any ideas why this is happening?

SBOP 4.1 Edge Version

I know that the enterprise version is release to customers. We own the EDGE version with DI.

 

Anyone know when this version will be made available.

 

We are anxiously awaiting being able to regain ability in Explorer to read unv universe built from Bex query. We lost this in 4.0

Branding and Theming of BI launch pad

Hi All

 

I tried to change the theme of my BI Launch pad following Tutorial:Branding and Theming of BI launch pad

Version: SAP BO SP4 14.0.4.738

Tomcat6

 

I changed the following colors

I had no webpath.InfoViewBranding under C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\work\Catalina\localhost\BOE\eclipse\plugins. So I created a folder named 'webpath.InfoViewBranding' and then copied folders from template.zip.

So now my folder paths are

 

C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\work\Catalina\localhost\BOE\eclipse\plugins\webpath.InfoViewBranding\web\css\cutomize.css

and

C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\work\Catalina\localhost\BOE\eclipse\plugins\webpath.InfoViewBranding\web\images\theme\

and

C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\work\Catalina\localhost\BOE\eclipse\plugins\webpath.InfoViewBranding\web\images\favicon.ico

 

What else to be done from the tutorial?

 

It is said in the tutorial that

" The Tomcat work directory is not permanent and your temporary changes are deleted after a Tomcat restart."

Does it mean that after restart, the folders I created will be deleted?

 

Please help me...

Error running Crystal Enterprise 10 reports in WIN7

Dear Forum members,

 

Our business users are not able to view the crystal 10 reports in WIN7/IE9 system. When they click on view, it shows 'The Crystal Report Viewer

is unable to create it's resources' without any activeX popup that was available in IE8 browser.

 

Our reports are launched in Crystal enterprise 10.

 

Steps to reproduce:

 

1. Open the Crystal reports launched using Crystal enterprise server 10 version.

2. Through IE9 browser in WIN7 PC if you try to view the report, it throws ''The Crystal Report Viewer is unable to create it's resources' without any      activeX popup

 

Current Status with SAP support: As per SAP support, Crystal Ent 10 has comprehensively passed its published End Of Life date.

 

Please provide your valuable suggestion/comment.

BO4 - cobra error - com.businessobjects.corba.generic error

Hi,

 

Using bo4 launchpad and user reported error below when refreshing webi report in bi launchpad.

Other users can refresh this report fine and user concerned can refresh other reports fine.

 

BO4 SP6.

 

Any ideas?

SAP BO 4.0 Client tools can't connect to CMS

Hi all,

 

I just installed SAP BusinessObjects SP4 client tools and I am trying to create a session to CMS. When I try to connect I get FWM 01003 error. I disabled server firewall, I updated hosts files in client and server workstations but without success.

 

I can connect to cms by web application and servers are up and running.

 

Any suggestion?

Create Olap Connection with 4.1

Hello

 

is there anybody who already had BI 4.1 installed?

I installed it and tried to create a OLAP Connection in CMC but it didn´t worked. It seems like a bug.

 

I installed 4.1 with Patch 2

 

Is there anybody how could confirm this?

RWI 00313 Error When Using QaaWS from Webi in a Dashboard

Hello All,

 

I have been experiencing a consistant RWI 00313 error when I try to preview a Dashboard that is using multiple 'Query as a Web Service' calls from a single Web Intelligence document. The error states: "There was an error retrieving the document from the token storage".

From the little bit of help I have found by searching, I believe it may have to do with the fact that there are multiple calls to the same document. However, I know that this should be an ability of QaaWS... thus the head scratching. 

 

 

Some details: The Dashboard is set to refresh the QaaWS on open and I am on BO4 SP6.

Change log file directory

Hi Guys,

 

I have just installed SAP BO 4.0 SP06 on windows server. The installation directory is E:/BusinessObjects/....

 

I see log file are getting saved in the E: Drive. is there any way i can change the location to save all these files.

 

this seems to be the default location for log files. Am i right ?

 

how can i change the path to save those file ?

 

Please see screenshot attached below for my issue.

Can anybody let me know the best way of doing SSL Configuration ..?

 

How to create SSL certificate ?

 

Is it good idea to configure SSL first and then assign PORTS to all server or the other way around ?

BO 4.0 in different OS

Hello,

 

We got new server which has Windows Server 2008 installed in it and loaded our DEV data into it. Our IT team are providing Windows Server 2012 now.

Can we have DEV in Win-2008 and UAT and LIVE in WIN-2012. Technically would it have any problems. We will be using LCM or manually uploading reports from DEV,UAT, PROD.

Split Deployment

Am trying to do a split web deployment of apache and tomcat by following the steps on the document http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-6191

When i try to deploy using the below command , deployment ends with error below while deploying BOE web applications.

Hi Experts

Uploading Excel file(Local Document) to BI Launchpad doesn't succeed in my desktop but it succeeds in other desktops with Same BO User.

After clicking Add button, it keeps on Loading.

 

Kindly help me to solve this issue.

 

Please note, i tried with different BO users and found the problem is not with Rights of BO User. But the problem is with desktop.
