BOXI 3.1 Publications: refresh of dynamic recipients

Dear experts,

I have several publications based on dynamic recipients (webi on XLS via Unv/ODBC) that have a frequently changing sources. So everytime the publication runs it has to refresh the dynamic recipients list - but this is not happening. Even if I activate "refresh on open" in the webi report the publication takes the data that was inside the report when the publication was created, it is not refreshed.

 

I can manually refresh the list and save it - then the pub takes the latest data. Purging and activation of "refresh on open" does not help - the pub runs into a "no data in the rec list" exception.

Can anyone help?

 

It all a bit strange, as this is the core feature of "dynamic" recipients.

Determining Objects Dependent on a Universe

Using Business Objects 4.0 SP05 Patch 4 on AIX.  Is there a way to get a list of objects (WebIs, CRs, dashboards) that make use of a particular universe?  We would like a way to evaluate the scope of potential universe design changes.

RAS server not starting after initial install on Solaris with BI4 SP6

Support has been very slow to help us resolve an issue on a Solaris install of BI4 SP6.  After the installation the Crystal RAS server will not start.  Has anyone else experienced this issue?  Any resolutions?  Support tried to suggest it was a bad download of the SP6 software and made us install it 3 times (all still with the same result).  No logging is showing on what the issue could be and when we try to rebuild the RAS server it still happens.  All other servers started up no problem and no visible errors during the installation.  Oracle is the CMS repository.  This is a full (new) installation of SP6 not a patched up version.

 

I should mention the behavior is not being seen in on our Windows based SP6 install.

Business Objects Auditing - Ability to track a report back to original after copying?

Hello SCN,

 

This question refers to the auditing database that is used to track the usage data of the Business Objects Launch Pad.

 

Our users will regularly edit a published report and save their version with a different name. Although different, the user's version of the report is essentially the same report (same data source, same objects, just a different view). When reporting on the auditing data we would like to be able to track the user's version of the report back to the original. This would enable us to have a more inclusive window into a reports usage.

 

I understand that a new UID is created when a report is saved under a different name, but are there any other ways to track a report back to the original?

BO4 - errors in event log to do with session management + ora-07445

Hi,

 

Our dba team is reporting ora-07445 error messages on the reporting database at about the same time as errors in event log

 

Failed to determine status information of file/directory C:\bo4\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\Data\<server_name>_6400\BIPROD01.WebIntelligenceProcessingServer1\sessions\_ARbMBLFfaYlOkIk8.mI4xzA\P0pi7164KT392{<server_name>}{<server_name>.WebIntelligenceProcessingServer1}{ARbMBLFfaYlOkIk8.mI4xzA}.tmp from the file system. Please check for file system corruption, permissions and sharing violation

 

 

We are using bo4 sp6.

 

 

These errors are intermittent.

 

Running 2 node windows 2008 cluster with bundled tomcat + cms + repoprting database oracle 11.2. 03.

 

 

Ant thoughts/advice?

BI 4.0 Cluster Installation Issue

Hello Experts,

 

We are trying to install BO 4.0 SP4 cluster on platform Win 2008 R2 and CMS and Audit DB SQL Server 2012

 

We have tried the below 2 methods for clustering the CMS but both of them have resulted in errors.

 

Method 1

Installation on node 1 is successful. When we perform installation on node 2 with following steps:
- Custom Installation (Including web-tier and all the applications , excluding Integrated Database)
- Expand an existing BO installation giving credentials of first node CMS
- Adding node 2 in the same CMS and Audit database as first node

Node 2 installation finishes successfully

Method 2

Both node 1& 2 are installed as standalone systems with different CMS database. Node2 is later added to the CMS of node1 from the SIA properties of Node2

 

Issue : The server processes of node 1 or server processes of node 2 are in initializing, starting and stopped mode for long time, this keeps on happening until one of the node is manually shut down. If only one node is up, it runs without any issues.

 

There in no firewall between the two BO nodes, but there is a firewall between BO nodes and database. All the ports are open on all the three servers bidirectional.

 

Has someone faced any issue like this before?

BO4 Path lengths and fully qualified domain names

Hi,

 

We are using BO4 SP6 and plan to change the registry to shorten the length of the cache folder to stop errors in the event log.

 

Whilst this looks like will bring below the 260 character limit notice the files showing in teh event log have computre_name.domain_name in them.

 

The domain name is 23 characcters long as as it puts this is twice it eats up alot of the length of the catula filenames as per sap note

1773822

 

the cms_server_name would be far shorter if it used just the computer name.

 

We have  2 node Windows cluster and both in the same domain.

 

 

Is it possible to have it just generate computer name rather than computre_name.domain_name in the path?

 

Any downsides to doing so?

Hyperlink object in Universe Designer

Hi,

 

I need assistance please with creating a hyperlink object in Universe Designer.  I'm a newbee at creating hyperlinks in Designer, and would very much appreciate your help!

 

The goal is to have the hyperlink launch the document stored in our SharePoint repository.  The document name is stored in the database, and the hyperlink works in Crystal Reports (Format field=>Hyperlink=>

"http://sharepoint.abc.net/Sites1/SPlrffrx/1234%20Document%20Library/"+{Document.Name}+"?OpenDocument".  I need the same functionality at the universe level so that the hyperlink could be used in various Webi reports, and available to select on future reports. 

 

I attempted to create the hyperlink and it just launches our SharePoint site - see sample code below:

 

'<a href="http://sharepoint.abc.net/Sites1/SPlrffrx/1234%20Document%20Lib/"||Document.Name||+OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?>'||Document.Name||'></a>'

 

 

Details:

DB type - DB2

BOBJ 4.0 SP06 installation is taking a long time

I am installing BOBJ 4.0 SP06 full package on my Windows server 2008 r2 SP1. It is already running since last 4 hours. No logs are getting updated, installation is stuck at step : Uncaching Deployment Units. If i check task manager then it does not show high CPU usage , network usage, memory usage.

 

Please guide .

Count Formula in Business Objects

Good day,

 

Please help with a count formula for customer groups not logged on system. See table below.

 

Rule: If in a specific customer group one user (Group_001) has logged on to system that customer group is excluded from results.

         A customer group is considered having not logged on to system when no user within that customer group has logged on system.

 

A count of Customer Groups for below table must return 1 (Group 2)

I am using SAP Business Objects 4

It works fine with InfoView, Designer and Desktop Intelligence.

How to place report name and universe name side by side in a report?

Hi

   I am trying to create a webi report based on Audit universe in BOBI and using SQL DB. I figured out that the webi report name as well as the universe name is under the object name but I need to create a report with the webi report name and the related universe name (both of which comes from object name) side by side. Could you help me on this please.

Column Resizing latency in BI Launchpad

We are seeing the latency while resizing the column width in BI launchpad. We increased the java heap size and added Java run time parameters with Xmx1g ->Xmx3g. Still latency is there.

 

We have BO 4.0 SP5 Patch7. Java Version 1.6..0.45 IE 8.0, Windows XP.

 

Anyone has any ideas to how to fix the latency in client side or server side? This is observed in couple of users machines. Not all the users are having this issue. I believe this issue may be related to local to user machine.

400 Bad Request in Infoview after FP 6.1 install

Hi everyone,

 

We've recently updated our  BOE XI 3.1 to SP6 (with Fix Pack 6.1).

 

The problem we're having is that if a report is scheduled to default enterprise destination and formatted as PDF, and a user views that PDF instance, when they close the instance they get the following error from InfoView:

 

400 Bad Request

The page you requested is not available on this web server for one of the following reasons:

  • You have passed an unsupported nonstandard parameter.

After verifying that the error is not the result of a bad requested query parameter then Report this problem to the webmaster or the administrator.

 

This is happening with all Crystal reports in this environment, and is new with the installation of FP 6.1. The user can still click the "X" to close the document after this occurs.

DSO Vs Cube load to Planning Book

Can someone help me understand why we cannot load from DSO to Planning Area/Book in APO. I could not find the exact detailed reason- while I know that it is necessary to have a cube to load data as cube is multi dimensional.

Please provide me links if there are any to explain this aspect in detail.

Crystal Server and BI 4.0 Connectivity

Hi All,

 

I have installed Crystal Serever 2011 and BI Platform 4.0 on two different machines.

I would like to have connectivity between these two.

Checked in BI Admin guide but it doesn't seem to have the steps to establish connectivity between these two.

 

Could someone help me with the guide or list the steps to carry out the same please?

Is it possible to change the encoding of CSV exports?

Hi,

 

we have a Crystal Reports 2008 server running. We generate CSV exports of our reports, both by scheduler and by InfoView. Crystal Reports automatically uses UTF-8 encoding for CSV exports. I know that it is possible to include or not include a BOM into the CSV export by setting a Windows registry value. However, is it also possible to use a different encoding? We prefer Windows ANSI encoding (ISO 8859 Latin 1).

SSO with CMC, WebI Rich Client and Designer

Hello Experts,

 

I'm posting this question as I'm not able to find an answer in other blogs/ posts.

 

We have BO XIR3.1 SP4 on Windows 2003 server with Windows AD authentication using kerberos and Apache Tomcat/

 

My single sign on is working fine with Infoview, but the infoview is loading little slow,, it stays on the login page for about 30-40 seconds before logging me in. It is only happening when i use IE, when I use Firefox then it is quick. Is there any setting in IE that i can change to make it load faster? I tried clearing the cache, deleting the history etc but still same issue.

 

Can I get SSO work with CMC, Webi Rich Client and Designer? I have gone through many blogs, documents and posts but couldn't find a solution. If it can be done, can someone please tell me how?

Danger Alert Created When Threshold Not Reached

Hi All,

 

I have noticed that a danger alert has been created in the CMC. When I have a look at the contents of the alert message, I see that the danger threshold was not reached. Can anyone shed some light on why this alert was sent when the threshold was not breached? I have a couple of cautions that seem to have the same thing happening.

SSO With Server IP not working

Hello Experts,

 

I implemented Single Sign On on our standalone BOXI 3.1 SP4 environment using Win AD Kerberos and Vintela, Apache Tomcat 5.5, Windows Server 2003 and the Win AD Domain Controller being on Win Server 2008.

 

I'm able to do single sign on using IE and Firefox using the server name in the url, like  http://BOServer/InfoViewApp/logon.jsp.

 

But when I enter the ip address instead of server name like http://10.60.210.70/InfoViewApp/logon.jsp, it is not signing me in directly but instead I have to enter the credentials to log in. Even with the IP address, the SSO should be working...Correct?

 

On the Win AD Domain Controller, I did create a SPN with the IP address using the command

SETSPN -A HTTP/10.60.210.70 SERVICEACCOUNT

 

And when I view the list of SPN's for the service account, the IP address is listed.

 

Can I fix this issue? How do I do it? Where do I start from?

 

Please help.
