Need help on Universe promoting steps

Hi All,

I am serching for best practises to promote universe from one environment to another.

We have BO XI 3.1 Dev & Prod environment.

There are lots of changes in Dev environment Universe that we don't want to productionise.

So whenever we want to productionise some of the changes in dev universe, we are just making those changes in Prod environment universe.
(i.e. not promoting universe to prod)

Is this good practice ? Will it cause any problem in future ?
