How to create a generic jdbc/odbc IDT connection to Progress db

Hello,

On the BusinessObjects 4.0 platform we had the ability to create new connections in IDT and Universe Designer to the Progress database type.  It was an available option in the dropdown list when creating a new universe connection.  We leveraged the progress.sbo file and mapped the appropriate Progress jdbc drivers saved to our BOE app server.

Since upgrading to 4.1 we noticed that option is no longer present.  The progress.sbo file is no longer present either.  I confirmed with SAP that the Progress connection type has been deprecated in 4.1.

However, I'm curious if there is an approach/workaround to use something like a generic JDBC connection.  I have no experience using/creating generic JDBC connections in BOE.  Does anyone have tips or steps?  Has anyone worked with the Progress db type in 4,1?  I'm open to an ODBC method as well.

Thank you for your time.

Mike
