Hi all,
Hope you guys can shed some light to this process.
We want to upgrade from Crystal Reports Server XI R2 SP1 to Crystal Reports Server 2013 (latest patch) which includes migration of all content, security, etc.
No universes are used and the DBMS is Informix 11.
We have about 600 reports with subscriptions and 5 users.
CRS XI r2 reporting server must stay online until full migration is done and verified.
What I am not sure is the correct and most efficient upgrade path as there are some confusing information given in the various forums
and documentation.
I am referring to 2 possible upgrade paths being suggested around:
Upgrade Path 1: Straight from CRS XI R2 SP1 -> CRS 2013
Is it possible to go via this direct upgrade route by using "Upgrade Management Tool" (UMT) in CRS 2013 ?
Do we need to patch up CRS XI R2 to SP2 in order for this process to work ?
Upgrade Path 2: with intermediate step of migrating to CRS 2008 V1 first as per below:
a. CRS XI R2 -> CRS 2008 V1
b. CRS 2008 V1 - > CRS 2013
For both upgrade paths, will the "Import Wizard" or "Upgrade Management Tool" migrate report subscriptions as well ?
Regarding the Upgrade Path 2, the process I am thinking of is as follows:
1. Create a separate staging server and install CRS 2008 V1 (configure drivers, DSN, etc,)
2. On the CRS XI R2 server platform, run "Import Wizard" to create BIAR file.
3. On CRS 2008 V1 staging server run "Import Wizard" and import BIAR file
4. On final destination CRS 2013 server, run "Upgrade Management Tool" and migrate directly from CRS 2008 V1 staging server
Would the above be a workable process ?
Did I miss something ? Any suggestions?
Would be enormously grateful for your input.
Kind Regards,
Davor Mitrasevic
