Improving export to Excel performance

Does anyone have any tips on improving excel performance when exporting a webi report? I don't want to get into discussions on why users are trying to export larger files (in excess of 6MB); I am just looking for suggestions.

 

When a user runs the export, not only does it take a long time, but there is simply no notification that the export is even processing or if it stopped, etc.

 

In previous tools, the user could run the same query and it would run and export very quickly, but in BO it could take upwards of 10min or [much] more.

 

Any ideas? We are on BO 4.0 SP 7 Patch 7 currently, with a planned upgrade to BO 4.1 SP4 over the summer.  Maybe this is no longer an issue with 4.1?

BO XI 3.1 Error fwb 00014

I looked on the server and I have two license keys. One is for 50 named users, the other is for 25 concurrent users. There is no expiration date in expires.

 

On the server I have 14 sessions logged in. So why am I getting this error? I looked at the users account and switcher her from concurrent to named but I still don't see why she could not log in.

 

Also I have to frequently restart the server TomCat 5.5 in order to cleanup sessions. They never seem to go away. But I get unable to login errors when the server has only 30 some users logged in.

Reposcan switch -dbkey in BI4.0

Hello Matthew Shaw,

 

I just noticed the below wiki link for reposcan / RDT, it lists all the other necessary switches but it is still missing to list the -dbkey under "List of options is" when it is BI4.0

Although, the reference to official documents for reposcan of each version also exist; however, a small explanation for the -dbkey under "List of options is" can be specified so when people see the wiki, it is easy to refer -dbkey than running through pdf and reaching page number 11 of the below doc:

this mandatory switch in BI4.0, is often forgotten - It will help readers to identify easily as to what they were missing while running reposcan for BI4.0 while they didn't miss when it was XI3.1

 

It is just my suggestion and sorry I couldn't comment this on the wiki itself as it didn't allow me and it keeps on saying "Loading the editor" forever.

Webi Report 4.0 migration to 4.1

Hello experts,

 

I have a question on migrating BOBJ webi reports from 4.0 to 4.1 environment.

 

We have SAP BW 7.0 and BOBJ 4.0 and now we are implementing SAP Hana that is BW 7.4 and BOBJ 4.1 version

 

we have about 70 webi reports built in 4.0 version based on BICS connection i.e BEx as a source and I like to migrate these webi reports into new 4.1 environment.

Our first step is to move 4.0 reports into 4.1 which will still be connected to BW7.0 legacy system as we are not done with Hana implementation and BW migration yet but like to proceed with front end first so users can start using 4.1 environment.

My concern is that if I move 4.0 reports to 4.1 which will be connected to BW7.0 for some time before we finally migrate BW 7.0 to 7.4, do I need to migrate the BICS connection already created in BOBJ4.0 to BW7.0, if Yes, will that BICS connection still work with 4.1 to 7.0.

Also later on down the road when we are done with migrating BW7.0 to 7.4, do we have to create a new BICS connection pointing to BEx queries in the new environment that is BOBJ4.1 to BW7.4.

Our Current Environment is BOBJ4.0----------->BW7.0

Our Temporary  Environment will be BOBJ 4.1------------> BW 7.0

Final Environment will be ----------------> BOBJ 4.1 to BW7.4

 

I like to know what are the best practices do I need to follow to achieve these tasks and how would my connection work or behave in these Environments if I use the same connection fro 4.1 to 7.4 environment.

Business Objects XI R2

Dear SAP Support Team,

 

Currently we are using Business Objects XI R2 version in our environment. We are facing some problem with Excel sheet while extracting from Webi report to Excel.

 

We have n number of webi reports in our BO environment. One of the webi report have 85 thousands rows, we could not able to download all the records to excel sheet.

 

While extracting we are getting only 65536 rows only. But user needs all the data in Excel sheet but it is not supporting. Is it possible to upgrade the Excel plug-ins separately in BOXI environment.

Publishing Crystal Reports for Enterprise error

When I try to publish a Crystal Reports for Enterprise report, using Publication options, in order to send it by email to three of my users,  it shows the following error:

 

2014-07-03 10:20:32,390 ERROR [PublishingService:HandlerPool-1] BusinessObjects_PublicationAdminErrorLog_Instance_16070 - [Publication ID # 16070] - Scheduling document job "Users - with Logon Events" (ID: 16,077) failed: Exception in formula '{@Record_Selection}' at 'and (

({Auditing.Events\User Name} = "Larry") or ({Auditing.Events\User Name} = "Curly") or ({Auditing.Events\User Name} = "Moe")

)':

The remaining text does not appear to be part of the formula. (CRS 300003) (FBE60502)

[3 recipients processed.]

 

 

It is weird because the report is one of those that are by default used for Auditing and it runs perfectly when I run it manually or by Schedule. The problem is when I include it in a Publication, so it can be filtered automatically based on the list of users.

 

 

I tried with another of those reports that come with Auditing, and it has the same problem. Is it a bug? Are you able to replicate this error in your environment? I'm using Crystal Reports 2013 sp3.

How to perform tracing in CMC?

And after performing the tracing how to read the log files generated by tracing.

HTTP Status-500 Error when try to open Explorer from BI Launch Pad?

Hi,

 

I logged into SAP BI Launch Pad and tried to open Explorer from Applications link in BI Launch Pad.

At this instant i'm getting an error " HTTP Status 500 - javax.servlet.ServletException: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: com.businnesobjects.swd.appcontext.RequestInfo.getCafAppContext()Lcom/businessobjects/swd/appcontext/CafAppContext;".

 

The detail error message in the below attached screenshot.

 

Can anyone help me to solve the above.

Request processing failed. (XLS 000009)

Hi,

 

 

 

When we try to visualize our Dashboards with the url "http://ServerName:8080/Dashboard/Dashboard.jsp", sometimes it shows the error

 

 

"Request processing failed. (XLS 000009)

 

Request processing failed. (XLS 000009) [] <com.businessobjects.dsl.commons.exception.NestedException: No suitable driver found for jdbc:sqlserver://[IP]:1433;DatabaseName=outsystems>"

 

 

 

I try to resolve with the note "1755535 - BI40:Request processing failed. (XLS 000009) No suitable
driver found for jdbc".

With the The Microsoft JDBC Driver 4.0 SQL Server but it isn't help us.... the issue still persist....

 

 

I just can't find anything more in the web about that issue.... anybody can help me?

 

 

Our enviroment it's:

 

SAP BI 4.0. SP2

SQL Server 2008 R2

 

Note: We do not use SAP HANA

Can't Share/Send the objects from BI Inbox

Hi Folks...

I have an issue, In BI inbox end user can't share the objects with other users.
SAP BOBI 4.0 patch 4 updated.

I did some steps to rectify the problem, but no success yet:


STEPS I took:
----------------------
After verfiy the IE8 version and settings as well as check the JAVA update/settings too..

*Share the user screen and check the problem, User can't send the objects within the enterprise on his local machine. no problem to go into the inbox but no user list available and unable to search any user.
*Using the user enterprise Alias of the same user, logon on my  machine with user ID using BI launch pad, there is no problem in this scenrio to send and search the other user's to share the objects.
* Using Alias is able to search and send the objets with in BI inbox, it means there is most probably no issue of authutication/security etc.

Same user ID on different machine have no issue but when user work on his own machine having the problem.

Can any one have some great idea to resolve the issue.

Print Engine Error

We have been using Crystal Reports Enterprise 8.5 for quite some time.  Today when we schedule a report to format Adobe Acrobat the reports fail.  These reports did not fail in the past so we know they work fine.  The error we are getting is Crystal Reports: Print Engine Error.  Any help would be greatly appreciated as it is our month end and we need reports desperately.

SMTP login fails

The company where I work runs Crystal Reports Server. I am certainly not an expert in this software, but this ended up on my desk so I will do my best to solve the problems.

 

We have a couple of scheduled reports (scheduled in InfoView) which are supposed to be emailed to a list of recipients when they are run.

We have just migrated to Office365, which has forced us to switch smtp servers. There are some problems related to this, since the Office365 smtp server does not allow non-TLS connections. Please note that these issues are solved. I am running stunnel on a local server, and have verified this setup with several other email clients. Sending emails is not an issue.

 

The problem comes when I try to get the Crystal Reports Job Server to send the reports. I have configured everything:

Domain: blank

Server name: The IP of the machine running stunnel

Port: 25

Authentication: Login (I have verified that the Office365 smtp uses Login)

User name/password: the same as when testing with other clients

From: The same as user name

 

When the report is run I get the error message login error. CrystalEnterprise.Smtp: SMTP_E_AUTH_FAILED(535)


I ended up using Wireshark to capture the unencrypted traffic between the mail client (Job Server / other client) and stunnel.

I started by capturing traffic from another client (used jbmail plus at the moment). I retrieved the base64 username and password and decoded them and could verify that they were sent correctly to the smtp server.

 

I then did the same with the Crystal Reports Job Server and noticed that the username and password are corrupted. It seems like a binary 0 (NUL char) is added to both the password and the username. I am 99% sure that this is the cause of my problems. Does anyone else have any experience with this?

Upgrade IPS to full BI Platform

Hi,

 

I installed IPS 4.1 SP3 as a prerequisite of Data Services 4.2 SP2.

Now I'm looking at the Rapid Data Migration packages and they include content for reporting but the full BI Platform is required.

 

How do I get from IPS to full BIP? Can I install BIP over IPS?

Promotion Management Job Failure in 4.1

A user is given all the required access to promote objects from dev to q and all works well except when the user has a crystal report to promote

the PM throws the following error.  As an administrator it works fine.   Any idea why?

 

Resolution Status=Not Applicable, Dependency Status=Not Applicable, Commit Status=Commit attempted and failed., Promotion Status=Failure : com.businessobjects.sdk.biar.BIARException$SDKException: CE SDK Exception occurred : 'The authentication credentials do not permit the operation. (FWB 00061) ' (FWM 04002)

FRS Virtual Unit is down.. Need Help

Hi all,

 

FRS virtual unit is down.  Need help to get this back to normal. 

I tried to reset, repair, changed the mode and role, still its going down.

 

Yesterday in one of our server, disk space was went to zero, by that time onwards it stopped working and not writing any logs in log folder.

 

Need some help to resolve this issue asap.

Creating a new User in BO 4.1

Hello everyone,

 

When I am creating a new user and check the security I find that Administrator group is automatically inherited.

Where is it inheriting the admin group from.  I cannot remove it since it is inherited.

Any idea where it is coming from and why?

Hi Gurus,

 

   We are using BOBI 4.1 and we have created a webI report and while refreshing the report, we are facing the below error first time. After we close the error message and if we refresh again, its working fine. I have found one note (1724168 - Hierarchy error when refreshing a Web Intelligence document) stated that its a bug in 4.0 and its resolved in 4.1. But still am facing the same error in 4.1. Kindly help me to resolve the issue. Anyone input is highly appreciated.
