We are using a custom build java web application where users click on the report to schedule it to pdf or excel. Once scheduled, the report is sent to the CMC Scheduler to generate a pdf and send the output link using an open doc. Generally it works well but in some occasion it fails as it hangs and does not process the schedule. I get the below error:

I have a report with subreport in the report header section and multiple lines of report information present in report header along with their description. The

report also has a detail section which has data for the report.

When exporting the report to excel the data in subreport is shown in first few columns. Then the multiple lines of acronyms are shown in next few rows. After this the data of the main report is displayed.

The problem with the export is this the the report information is shown after a few blank columns(after the columns of subreport) and the main report data also shown after blank columns(after the columns of subreport and acronyms).

I want the different sections of report export to start from first column. How can I achieve it?

We are currently on BO XI 3.1 SP2, Windows Server, Tomcat Application Server.

We are having problem backing up all reports (only Webi) and it's associated universe in a BIAR file. This is needed to perform selective restore if need be.

We already have the backup of FileStore and CMS DB taken at regular intervals. We have also tried the biarengine but biarengine would not allow us to do a selective restore. So, we are using Import Wizard to serve this need.

Import Wizard export to BIAR fails with "Unknown Export Failure" error for each of the object imported. See attached.

- I'm using Administrator credentials to create the BIAR file.
- My local Windows user have full access to where the BIAR is being created. I'm able to create a BIAR of few reports and universes.
- I'm aware of the ADAPT01493539 but that's not the case here.
- I've ran RDT to fix inconsistencies.

We have about 860-1000 reports and 200-300 universes in the environment. I'm able to create a BIAR file in smaller chunks of few reports and universes.

Appreciate your thoughts on the issue.

I wanted to create a BI Workspace with dashboard and Webi.

Made a dashboard with a single universe query through query browser(with a prompt) and specified the destination cell as well. Added External Interface Connection and mapped with the Range_name and Range(Range Type - Cell). Published the dashboard to the repository.

Made a webi report using the same objects those are used in dashboard without any prompt and published the same to repository.

In a new BI workspace added two columns, one for dashboard and another for webi. In the Content Linking section, linked the name given in the External Interface Connection with the same column name in webi report. Then came out from the edit window and checked from dashboard.

It was not filtering from webi. PFA of the workspace (dashboard and webi).

Although it might sound a bit wierd looking at the question - BOXI 3.1/4.X - Does SAP BO support connectivity of CMS through 3rd Party Applications,

I would appreciate if  someone could really advise on the risk involved in allowing such connectivity.

There is a requirement come up with one of our clients who are wanting to connect to Business Objects from Ab initio Metadata Hub. Not clear what exactly is going to be the added advantage of that. Am not familiar with Ab initio. And there is not much information available on the net too. But when I went through some material -

first they are wanting some client tool to be installed on BO Server.

- for that asking port22 to be opened up.

Can anyone advise on the risks involved from network security point of view.

Secondly - they are talking of importing universes/ webi / deski. And asking for CMS connectivity. This makes me all the more uncomfortable.

Am not sure whether am right in asking this question on this forum.

But would appreciate if anyone could highlight such risks involved.

Or if anyone has done such connectivity to other 3rd party applications and BO,  I would appreciate if they could share their views.

I have only heard of people using APOS with BO for various reasons. And somebody suddenly coming and asking for access to all BO repository through some 3rd party application, for whatever reasons, makes me a bit uncomfortable.

I would like to understand :

Does BO SAP support these ? even if it is read only access.

What are the chances of a possible repository corruption in allowing these?

What are the risks involved in allowing access to all the jar files of the installation folders of BO application.

Greetings, hello and wishes.  This is further to my various experiences with customers in the recent years  and would like to understand if there have been well defined ways to help customers follow various best practices for maintenance of BO environment and help them on onward migration, or also in continuing a BO activity or in maintaining a BO environment as BAU - in real terms.  Atleast I have never been able to find one such document from SAP.    And have found my own ways of finding the health check of any environment and must say Query Builder really has been of great help. But that has been a huge exercise to adapt and to extract information - which is meaningful finally.

A few things which am trying to explore and understand while we are looking at some customers who have done a systems migration or upgrades or added new systems to the environments for back end data sources which are being used for Business reporting as well. While these things have happened, correcting the data at the source systems seems to be a great challenge. Especially when there is a great dependency of various source systems on the ETL side. And then we see that BI reports are not appropriate and then finding the RCA is a way anyhow.

But that seems to be a bit time consuming for me when am looking at a BO enviornment perspective as to how to handle this.

What am really looking at is : how to map the object used in one report - against various universes being used.

Or to state the challenges more explicity :

• How to map OBJECTA used in WEBI REPORTA, which I have identified  that data is wrong,  which has come from the sourceA. I have identified that on one report. Now I want to know, how many reports are there in the system which has this OBJECTA

Can we do that mapping. And find out ? list of universes affected on this particular object identified as source data error.

Can we do this kind of reverse mapping - by any chance.

• If my understanding is correct, these object properties are not stored in CMS but in the report itself.

• The challenge is that,

When you look at an environment with more than 5k reports in use, and sources which are wide spread coming through multi-various ETL processes including legacy systems from different networks, (including those which are likely to be sunset in the coming years), but then, as on date, when I look at the BO application and look at the various reports which are in production,  this kind of information is important for me to understand where all my reports are going to fail.

• While one can say that monitoring is the way.  But how much to monitor when you dont have much information about the systems or processes under consideration. Hence this post on the BO forums, to find out if anyone can help me.

Can anyone help me understand this please.  And guide me with a few suggestions which could be used to identify the various problems - before an issue is actually reported by an end user - which actually happens after a few weeks or even after few months.

While I have started a huge activity of collating various data sources and tables / reports / universes etc, I would appreciate if anyone could help me few more logical ways to get this information in a much refined way, easily, that would help me flag - X no of reports \ being affected, due to source data issues. I wish to have this kind of proactive triggers on the system to be implemented. All suggestions welcome.

we have cluster of two weblogic servers ( version 10) on linux RHEL 5.1 connecting to 2 apache servers( version 2.0) on HP-UX servers.

I have cluster.properties on one of the WL server where I put the fqdn:port of both CMS servers which are two other machines other than WL and Apache.

dwws.properties have the entry of ip:6400 of one of the CMS machines.

While logging in to QAAWS, sometimes I get unknow error, sometimes WS unknown.

Sometimes I get a logon and select a universe but then I get this error below.

I am using the infocube 0COOM_C02 and it works well for actual. I want to have the same data for budget. I activated all infopackages and transformations under this cube, like this :

Obviously, all infosources are connected to DataSource and they are loaded. When I'm looking records with VTYPE = 050, there is no record.

How can I do to have budget grouped by cost centers?

Am getting the following error while refreshing the WEBI report. "An internal error occured while calling 'processDPCommandsEx' API. (Error: ERR_WIS_30270) (WIS 30270)".

"Query script generation failed. See your Business Objects administrator. {0} {WIS 00013} java.lang.NullPointerException (WIS 00000)"

Few reports were developed and all were working fine. Suddenly am getting the above error for all the reports. We have changed/modified/updated anything in the server.

We are using BO 4.0 SP5. Source is BW, I have created OLAP connection and using BEx queries in WEBI report.

I have tried creating new report with the same BEx queries, report is working fine if I include one query. When I add one more query, am getting error. Screenshots attached for your reference.

I've not set up a Crystal Server before (or much of anything that's on the Ops side of things) so this is pretty much something I'm not familiar with. Apologies ahead of time.

We've installed Business Objects XI 3.1 to a Win 2008 R2 64 bit SP1 server with the intention of running reports that use EJB3/JNDI to connect to the database when executed.

Now, as a Java web app, we can run the reports just fine. However, when I publish/upload the RPT files to Enterprise and view these reports via CMC, I get an error (Illegal Arguments for the DB). So, I ended up configuring the CRConfig.xml file as documented here (http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b0348c83-b81d-2b10-3bb3-95bd52350eb4?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true&29549374999041).

I've filled out the following elements in the file: JavaDir, Classpath (with the path to the DB jar file for Sybase), IORFileLocation, JNDIURL, JNDIConnectionFactory, JNDIInitContext, JNDIUserName, and the JavaBeansClassPath (with all the necessary jar files).

After restarting the server (Tomcat in this case) and using CMC (http://:/CmcApp/logon.faces) to View/Run the report, I get this error:

Error in File <my_report>.rpt: Invalid argument for database.

Checking the logs (C:\Program Files\~\BusinessObjects\logging), I get the following messages/errors over and over again in various log files:

Which, when I checked around what they meant and how to, well, solve, didn't really yield much usable information.

We also installed the Crystal Reports 2008 Designer. Once I run the RPT there, I get this:

Invalid Argument provided. Details: Java Server startup failure. Verify the PATH (JDK), CLASSPATH, and IORFileLocation properties in the CRConfig.xml file. In addition, verify that you are using JDK 1.5.

Once I click ok, there's a 2nd pop-up:

Invalid Argument provided.

I've verified that the paths are valid though so they shouldn't be a problem (Also, on a side note, is JDK 1.5. required or will JDK 6 do as well?). I've also tried defining resources in thecontext.xml/server.xml for Tomcat but that didn't get me anywhere.

Any thoughts on this? Or any pointers on where I should start?

My CMS is running on a Linux box and I am using LDAP (mapped to AD) to authenticate users.

Now I am looking to bring in users from a different domain. Is this something that's supported by the LDAP plugin? I dont see an option to add a second domain.

I receive this error when trying to log in with manual AD authentication. I get a commit succeeded in the stdout.log.

One point I noticed is that the AD user password has a complex password with special characters. Can this cause an issue?

Trying to log in to CCM > Manage Servers using AD authentication gives 'internal error'.

If the special characters (<>?/!@#+:;~|) is not an issue (we have most of the characters mentioned there), what else could I look at? Please suggest.

We are testing a report that has a dynamic map in it. This map is displayed correctly when editing the report on Crystal Reports 2013 but the map is not displayed at all in BO 4.1 Enterprise Platform.

Our system is running on Unix. Do you know if there is a specific configuration we must perform to correct this situation? Is this scenario supported in this version and OS combination?

First off, we are on BI 4.1 SP01 Patch 2.  I want to schedule a Web Intelligence report with the output format set to CSV with no text qualifier (neither single or double quotes).  In this thread Simone Caneparo suggests this is possible...

So I am able to specify nothing as the text qualifier.  However, when I run the report I get this error...

[IllegalArgumentException] <false> (Error: RWI 00011)

Am I doing something wrong?  Has anyone else gotten this to work?

Hi All,

I am trying to make a connection on the Universe Design Tool and the Information Design Tool using JDBC but I get the following error:

"CS: Java Class not found in classpath : com.sybase.jdbc3.jdbc.SybDriver"

It turns out that Sybase IQ 15.4 is using jConnect version 7.0 which makes use of the following class: "com.sybase.jdbc4.jdbc.SybDriver".

I have added the following variables: JAVA_HOME, JDBC_HOME, and CLASSPATH and modified the sybase.sbo to point to jconn4.jar (instead of jconn3.jar) file as per the following link: http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1093263 but to no avail.

Can anyone help me out please?

I am getting IDT 02500 when trying to retrieve a published unx from the repository - An unexpected error has occurred. The exception thrown was: Unable to find servers in CMS DC1WPENYBO03.peny.dev:6400 and cluster @JCPDEV with kind fileserver and service FileStoreV2. All such servers could be down or disabled by the administrator. (FWM 01014) (FWM 08010)

We are using BOBJ 4.1 SP1. IDT Build is: 14.1.1.1036 on the client machine.  Connection to the repository, of course, is established from IDT.

The universe name has no spaces or special characters.

Any feedback will be much appreciated.
