BO CMC query builder

Hi All,

 

i am looking for an script to run in QB that would retrive the user's details like username, user DI ,user mail id and also other details like the user's member of(need  know the groups which that user has).

 

 

currently i have  one which will say how many users are there in a groups. like wise i am looking for list of groups the user is associated with.

 

ultimate aim is to look the user's security setup without viewing the users profile in the CMC.

 

please let me know if you still need any info on this.

BO License Audit with LMBI

Hello.

I would like to review the audit process described in https://support.sap.com/keys-systems-installations/Measurement/BusinessObjects-Measurement.html

It describes the audit process using the LMBI tool.

The document says that Chapter 4.2 of the Business Intelligence Platform Administrator Guide describes the use of the BusinessObjects License Measurement Tool (BOLMT  , SAP Note 1733350 - How to run a license audit in BI4.0 ). However, the results generated by the current BOLMT can NOT be used for license audits and shall not be loaded into LMBI or LAW. So this Note cannot be used.

 

Moreover it asserts:

 

The LMBI is shipped with measurement components and a consolidation component. The consolidation component is a stand-alone tool to calculate the number of required licenses. Therefore it requires contractual information to evaluate the measurements. This information is provided with each license audit request in form of a customer specific contract file. Without such a file, no result can be calculated.

 

My understandig is that both the software LMBI and the customer contract file are provided by SAP when starting the audit, and cannot be simply downloaded.

 

Is there anyone who had experience of the BO audit process and can describe how exactly it works?

BO4 - Computation error in webi reports which were previously fine

Hi,

 

Some users have reported computation error sin reports which were previously fine

 

simple reports when say pull dimension into report shows computation.

 

What is cause of this?

 

Anyone seen before.

 

No change to actual bo software in ages.

 

If refresh simple dimension objects show #COMPUTATION.

 

If take object out and then put back in again and refresh display normally without COMPUTATION.

 

Would like to know cause of this?

Export Business Objects Folder Security Export

Hi,

I need to export Business Objects Folder Security Export that should include Folder Name, Group Name and Access Levels.
I switched to Query Builder to get Business Objects Folder Security Export (that include Folder Name, Group Name and Access Levels) but I am not able

to find any relationship b/w Folder's, Groups and Access Level.

I used below queries to find:

1. Folders:

select SI_ID,SI_NAME,SI_CHILDREN,SI_CUID,SI_RUID,SI_PARENTID,SI_KIND

from ci_infoobjects where si_kind='Folder'

2. Groups

select SI_ID,SI_NAME,SI_CHILDREN,SI_CUID,SI_RUID,SI_PARENTID,SI_KIND

from CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS where si_kind='UserGroup'

3. Access Level:

SELECT

SI_ID,SI_NAME,SI_CHILDREN,SI_CUID,SI_RUID,SI_PARENTID,SI_KIND,SI_OBJECTS_

ASSIGNED_ROLE FROM CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS WHERE SI_KIND='CUSTOMROLE'

 

 

Now from Access Level Column "SI_OBJECTS_ASSIGNED_ROLE" I am able to

get the values for SI_ID corresponding to FolderName.

So I am confident that same can be used as relation b/w Folders and

AccessLevels. But that too not given any information about inherited

access.

Upgrading from CRS 2008 to 2013 Process

Hello,

 

We are in the process of planning and upgrading from Crystal Reports Server 2008 running on Windows Server 2008 SP1 to Crystal Server 2013.

 

I received a free 60 day trail download of 2013 from a sales rep but it's only SP1.

Where may I download the latest version/Service Pack of Crystal Server 2013?

ie.  I do not have credentials to login to the SAP Marketplace.

 

I've been reviewing the following documentation:

http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/crs2013/en/crs2013_upgrade_en.pdf

 

It states that these two Crystal Servers may run on the same machine and the only issue is with the CMC console port.  ie.  6400

Is that correct?

Am I able to install 2013 on the same Windows Server and have both up and running as long as I use a different port for CMC?

If I install with a different port, once the new Crystal Server is up and running and I shutdown the old, will I be able to change the port to 6400 ?

web intelligence instance size differ in 3.1 and 4.1

Hi,

 

 

We are migrating the Webi reports from BO XI 3.1 to BI 4.1, the report size remains same, however when scheduled the instance size is reduced drastically in 4.1. the source database is same.

 

 

Please find the below details:

 

 

Source Information:

 

BO version: BO XI 3.1 SP7

OS: Windows server 2003

Reporting database: Oracle 11g R2

Report type: Web Intelligence Report

 

 

Destination information:

 

BO version: BI 4.1 SP5

OS: Windows server 2008 R2

Reporting database: Oracle 11g R2

Report type: Web Intelligence Report

 

Issue: We have used UMT to migrate the webi reports from 3.1 to 4.1 (No instances). The report size remains same in both the environments. However when we schedule the report on 3.1  as well as 4.1 the instance size differs (in 3.1 instance size is 340 MB and in 4.1 the instance size is 24 MB).

The reports are connecting to same DB in 3.1 as well as 4.1. Number of row count also remains same.

 

 

Issue is occurring with all the migrate webi reports.

How to configure both Named & Concurrent users from the Windows AD authentication screen.

BI4.1 SP6

 

We have BusinessObjects configured so that users authenticate via Windows AD with SSO enabled (although I don't think SSO is relevant to this).

 

Up to now we have only had named licences, so all users that are added to our associated windows domain group are being added as Named users when I synch BO with AD via the CMC Authentication app.

 

We now have a number of concurrent licences and I'm unsure of how to map users to be concurrent users.

 

I had thought that we would create a new domain group and add our users marked as concurrent users to that group. Then back in the CMC, map that new group to the concurrent users. However I can't see a way of mapping multiple domain groups to the different licence types.

 

e.g.

So we have group domain\BOUsersNamed which is mapped to Named Users because I set the New Users Option to "New users are created as named users"

 

now I want to add group domain\BOUsersConcurrent but that will still be mapped via the New Users Option setting above and the users will be added as Named users ... at least until we run out of named licences.

 

I can't believe we are alone in having a mixed licence setup via Windows AD authentication so hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

SAP BO Schedule Notification is not running after system upgrade

Hi Everybody,

 

firstly we installed new 41. SP7 Patch1 BO system on Windows 2012R2 servers. after that we moved our previously version 4.1 SP4 Patch2 BO data to this system.

 

we had clustered BO sytem both of them. everythings was working fine. but after one week later we added a new node to new BO system as a cluster member. after this adding, notification mails on schedules are being not running .

 

the interesting things are here that, if we create new schedule on publication (not do reschedule with existing schedule on publication) the notifications are running.

 

we created a seperated publication and scheduled servers as AJS services every node (we have 3 node on our cluster system).

server2.AJS_Publication2

server3.AJS_Publication3

Hana Multi-tenant connexion on BI 4.2

Hi,

 

I have a problem to connect my multi-tenant Hana server on a BI 4.2 server.

The tenant that i would connect is running on port 30052 (indexserver).

On BI server, the connexion parameter, put automatically the port 30015

 

Have you any idea for these type of connexion?

BO Logon / Connection remotely

Hi Gurus,

 

i have a question regarding the logon in BO.

I would like to know if it is possible to connect remotely to BO and have access to all components like in SAP or SAP BI:

This question because BO has been installed on our Server but we can only access on if we are in the office.

By SAP BI we installed the logon tool and can connect per VPN to the server.

Does such a tool exist for BO? where could i download it?

WebI Rich Client doesn't launch

Hello,

 

On a BI 4.0 SP5 platform, WebI Rich Client is installed on the server and it doesn't start at all with no error message. Nothing happens and no process is launched.

 

Someone would have an idea of the problem?

- I have a requirement to schedule audit reports automatically on last working day of a week to the customer.

  do i need to create any object in the universe level to do this..? how can this be achieved.

 

 

- Do i have an option when a customer gets the scheduled report, can it be automatically auto forwarded my mail id: from customer id:.

Vulnerability on Apache Axis2 Component

 

Our BO Server environment

 

Windows Server 2008 R2

 

Tomcat version = 7.0.27 >

 

Axis2 version = 1.3

 

Java version = 1.6.0_35

 

BOXI = 3.1 FP6.2

 

SAP Notes 1589554 and 1432881 describes our problem. It says to upgrade to FP2.5 - however we are already on FP6.2,

 

Other recommendation I have found is to "upgrade to the latest version of Axis2" which is 1.6.2

 

SAP Community thread http://scn.sap.com/thread/3196662 outlines same problem as I see it.

 

I put in a case with BO Support - the first thing they want us to do is upgrade to the latest SP (in this case that would be 7).  Then they want us to run a scan on the version we just upgraded to - to identify security risks.

 

It is not feasible to do a Service Pack upgrade at this time - yet we want to solve the issue - any suggestions?

Hello all,

 

We have SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 Support Pack 3 application up and running using the ENTERPRISE authentication. 


Our requirement is to integrate the SAP BOBJ application with the Enterprise SAML2 Identity Provider (IDP) for Single Sign-on.


The Enterprise SAML2 Identity Provider (IDP) team provided us the METADATA.xml and the Certificate file.


Kindly guide us on where and how to load these files on BOBJ server to achedive the SAML SSO ?

Setup Windows AD SSO (BO 4.1 SP7) to work for OpenDocument links

Hello everyone,

 

I've already setup Windows AD SSO for BO 4.1 SP7 and it works perfectly fine, users get logged in when they access BI LaunchPad link. Now, we've a Webi report's Document Link in an internal website, so when a user clicks on it, they're getting directed to OpenDocument page where they need to enter their credentials. What do I need to do to setup the SSO for this OpenDocument page as well?

One derived table for multiple reports

Hi All,

We have 15 Fhsql  deski reports all connected to the same db connection  but different sql queries which will be converted to 4.1 webi.

My question is  can l create single derived table and connect all the reports to it in webi

 

1."When fhsql is converted to webi does it create a default derived tables"? ?

 

2. Can l include derived table in a universe?

Upgrade of SAP BI 4.0 SP5 Cluster to SAP BI 4.1 - Step by step ?

Hi Experts,

 

Hope you can shed some light on this.

 

We have a client that wants to upgrade their cluster from SAP BI 4.0 SP5  , consisting of two BI virtual servers to SAP BI 4.1 SP7.

 

They have a Prod environment consisting of only 2 BI servers (Server A and Server B) with CMS deployed on Server A.

 

What would be the best method to achieve this upgrade (excluding the "In Place Upgrade" directly on Prod environment) ?

( BTW, Is "in place upgrade" recommended at all under these circumstances? What are the possible CONs to doing this?)

 

If we exclude "in-place upgrade", basically the plan is to:

 

1. Replicate/clone/copy (whatever is best practice) environments to 2 virtual machines so to be able to run existing Prod environment in parallel while upgrading replicated environment.

2. Then perform the patch upgrade to the replicated/cloned/copied environment

3. Decommission the old Prod environment

 

Is the above a feasible and a "best practice" plan ?

 

We would like to avoid content migration with UMT tool and to minimise re-doing configurations like root folders, configuring user security and the like.

We would also like to be able to run these 2 environments in parallel for a while (during UAT in replicated environment)

 

 

I've red some posts on web: some suggesting "cloning" the environments some suggesting using of Promotion Management Application , etc.

So I am very confused as to what is the best option in my scenario and HOW IT IS ACTUALY DONE and in what order.

 

Questions:

 

1. What is the best approach to replicating the current Prod environment given our requirements above ? What it THE process for this ?

 

2. If my CMS is on Server A, how do I "replicate" that one, and how do I "replicate" non-CMS server B to new environment ?

 

3. Once, "replicated" how do I sever the references to the old environment ? (We want to run this in parallel with originating Prod environment)

 

4. Once we're happy with "replicated" environment" how to we upgrade patch them and in which order ?

Do I use just use "upgrade patch" installation file to achieve upgrade form BI 4.0 to BI 4.1 in the replicated environment?

 

Hope my lengthy post is clear enough.
