Has SAP got plans to support Microsoft Server PDW as reporting backend for Webi / crystal /dashboards or any reporting tool of SAP?

Hello Team,

 

Our organisation is planning to switch to Microsoft PDW from the existing backend Teradata.

 

I searched many articles to know whether Microsoft PDW is supported by SAP Business Objects or not. However I have not been successful in obtaining any useful information about the same.

 

I couldn't check the latest PAM till now. Will check it tomorrow morning. However the last PAM of SAP BI 4.1 (base pack) did not had mention of PDW support as backend for webi reporting or any type of SAP reporting.

 

I was successful in getting a blog post in microsoft forums which mentioned availability of PDW connectors with SAP Business Objects

Its a single line mention in the blog, so read the blog carefully

 

I am raising this query to know from SAP members whether there are any plans of support availability for Microsoft PDW in upcoming Support Packages of SAP BI 4.1.

BI BOP V4.1 Minimum configuration/servers/common services configuration

Hi All,

 

Apologies if this has been asked before.  I have done some searching for the above topic but haven't run into a something or a document that outlines what exactly is required for our use in BOP V4.1.

 

Frankly, we as a company under utilize BI BOP.  However, there are no plans to expand its usage as far as I can tell.  We migrated from Crystal Enerprise to BO BIP v4.1 and were surprise how much more resources (server) are required from the platform.  However, it has so many bells and whistles that I wish to consolidate it to just features that we need.

 

Basically I am looking for documentation that will let me know what common services/servers are required to run in order to use BOP like we did in BOE.  We use the Open Document to navigate users to reports for external apps, and we use email/pdfs for scheduled reports.  All the reports are based in Crystal Reports.  Now a few users might use the BOE/BI launch pad as well but I dont think it is used by many anymore.  Most use the opendocument or the scheduled reports or just the CMC for running reports.

 

Of course, not knowing everything about BI BOP, I let it configure the setup and we have everything running BUT it is problematic.  Memory becomes an issue on the 8GRAM 1 CPU server.  Can anyone please point me in the right direction where I can find the documentation?

 

We currently are using BI BOP V4.1 SP6 p2 Enterprise edtion....

SFTP: unable to find fingerprint in trace log file

Hello everyone,

 

First time posting here. If I am doing something wrong please let me know.

I have a problem with setting up a SFTP location for my BO 4.1 SP6 P3 test environment.

In order too make a SFTP location I have set-up a local SFTP server (FreeFTPD). Created a user for this server and tested with FileZilla that I can connect with the user to the server (should be easy since its local).

 

Now the next step is to get the SHA-1 fingerprint of the public/private key that I have attached to the SFTP server. This key is made with PuTTY.

I`m trying to do this by getting the fingerprint from the trace file of the Adaptive Job Server Destination Service, as is described in this post:

Fingerprints for SFTP Destinations in SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1.

 

The steps that I have taken are:

 

- make a jobserver for SFTP with the services:

    - Publication Scheduling Service

    - TraceLog Service

    - Program Scheduling Service

    - Platform  Search Scheduling Service

    - Destination Delivery Scheduling Service

    - Destination Configuration Service

 

- Set the tracelog to high for this jobserver

 

- Filled in the destination of the jobserver:

    - Host: localhost

    - Port: 22 (same as SFTP server)

    - Username: sftp01

    - password: ********

    - Account: -

    - Directory: VM-JH-BO/C:/Program Files (x86)/freeFTPd/sftproot/sftpuser01

    - Fingerprint: NEEDFINGERPRINTHERE

 

- Created a servergroup with the folowing server in it:

    - SFTP jobserver

    - InputFileRepository server

    - OutputFileRepository server

 

- Checked the rights of my BO account such that I can schedule documents

 

Next I`m scheduling a report to the SFTP location. Tell it to use the servergroup and the default SFTP settings/location. Now the strange thing is that the scheduling process never goes beyong the status "pending". I have also tried it without the specific SFTP server group and the scheduled report fails (as it should) with the folowing error:

 

Destination disabled. []: [CrystalEnterprise.Sftp]. Please note the name of the job server used for your request and contact your system administrator to make sure the specified destination is enabled. (FWB 00031)

 

unfortunately I can`t find the fingerprint in the logfile. There is nothing in the trace.glf that gives me information about the SFTP server being approached or about the fingerprint. I will attach the logfile if anyone wants to look into it. My question is, what is going wrong? Did I miss something in the configuration of the (job) server (group)? public/private key? Please let me know if anyone has an idea !

SRF files needed to pasted outside application folder

Hi All

We are using  srf to load/create a form .In our code we  have provided application path/ xxx.srf.

 

The form works perfectly fine while running from source eg.F:\......\...\bin

But same code fails after installing.

We need to paste the files outside the application folder and then it works perfect

How can we avoid it.

WIS 30951 Doc can't be retrieved from FRS

We're getting the following error when we try to open some but not all Web Intelligence documents:

 

The document can't be retrieved from the File Repository Server.  (WIS 30951)

 

Specifically, we get this error for approximately 500 documents that were created or last modified (or both) on April 29 or April 30.  There are other documents created or last modified at that time that are fine.  We also get the error for approximately 400 documents that were created and last modified on Feb. 27, 2012.  Again, other documents created and modified on that date are fine.

 

The CMC shows the documents and has the FRS filename and path, but the file isn't in that path in the FRS; even the directory that the file should be in doesn't exist.

 

We could restore the documents from a back-up.  But this has happened twice this year, and also happened in previous years.  I need to find out why this is happening and prevent it from happening again.

 

Any suggestions?  We're currently running XI 3.1 SP 5 and in February we were running XI 3.1 FP 3.1.

IDT Universe on OLTP Database

hello guys,

 

i am developing a universe on OLTP database in IDT.

So far, universe was looking complete.

But now issue which i am facing is-

suppose we have 2 tables a & b.

for 1 report, we have inner join btw these 2 tables but for other report, we need left join btw these 2 same tables for other report, it can be full outer join.

 

is there any way, we can sort such issues.

Kerberos SSO of BO on Windows without direct AD Integration

Hello

 

I am facing the problem to implement Kerberos SSO on a BO system which is running on a windows server.

For some technical reasons, the server is not part of a AD domain.

 

In general, I found documentation to implement Kerberos SSO for a scenario, when the windows server is running in the same damain as the endusers.

In our scenario, it is not possible to integrate the server in the domain.

Therefore, I can noch implement all steps of the Howto guide (AD plugin Configuration is not possible)

 

I managed to implement LDAP authentication.

But then, users still need to login with the AD account.

 

Is there an other possibility for an SSO scenario, which does not require direct AD integratio or the Login in an other SAP System (Portal) to get a SAP Logon Ticket.

Design studio login via HTTPS web service URL not working

Hello together,

 

we have configured the WACS SSL and and we started using HTTPS WACS to login BO client tool.

 

HTTPS WACS works perfect while login to Live office, Analysis for Excel, Crystal Report for Enterprise, but while in Design studio web service URL is not working and it throws error - "Could not initiate SSL connection. Check the Web Service URL"

(see the attached error message)

 

we checked this thread but doesn't helps http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-61763

 

 

BO platform: BO4.1 SP5 PATCH 3

Design Studio Add-on : DS 1.4 SP01 and DS 1.5 SP01

 

any support for this issue???

SMTP CONFIGURATION IN CMC ?

Hi Experts,

 

I am facing an issue while running a publication process from launch pad.

 

I have a Web I report which i have to mail it to dynamic recipients, i have run the complete process to be done in Launch Pad, but at the time i am running the process it is getting failed with the following error message

 

"The publishing service is not started or was restarted while the publication job was running. [0 recipients processed.]"
In addition to above, i am logging in with Administrator ID.
Can you please Guide me on this.

user rights problem

Hi Comunity Members,

 

I have little problem i hope you will be able to help as you always do

I have group of users that cannot refresh query in a report with error: No data to retrieve in Query 1 (User with full rights everywhere is able to refresh it without any problem).

To test what has happened as always in cases related to user rights I've added my test user to same groups, and I've started adding rights to this user - i hoped that finally user will be able to refresh report. I was wrong.

Report uses Oracle database, so i gave full controll rights to all objects related - report, universe, connection for the user without inheritance. I've also added full control to Web Intelligence application, but user still can't refresh report.

When I remove user from one of the groups he can refresh report, so that one user group is blocking me somehow.

Any ideas how to find what is blocking me?

 

Environment is BI 4.1 sp6

User right: Installing/Uninstalling Design Studio Extensions

Hi all,

 

we have several key users operating in our system and they develop Design Studio Applications.

Design Studio includes a feature for installing and uninstalling Design Studio extensions.
Users should not be granted to do this. Is there any right we can disable on our platform?

Audit Report - Most Used Universe Object

Dear All, one of our HRA users want to know the most used universe objects in a an audit report.

 

As per my knowledge, audit does not store such granular information. But, however, I would like to get some expert advises on this.

 

Does anyone throw some light on this?

Accessing Crystal Report Server 2008 using Wildfly (JBoss 8) and Java 1.8

We are currently accessing Crystal Reports Server 2008 to run reports using

Java 1.7 and JBoss 7.1.1 without any issues.

 

We now have to upgrade to JBoss 8 (Wildfly) and Java 1.8.

 

When I start the Wildfly server, information is logged to the JBoss server.log file as expected until our CrystalReportsManager (used to run reports via the Crystal Server) starts.

Once that object is instantiated, all the JBoss logging stops but our Report Web application functions as expected.  Just nothing new is

logged to the JBoss log.

So it appears that there may be a conflict with some dependencies etc.

 

All of the Crystal dependencies in the web application are from this java package:

com.businessobject.crystalreport.enterprise.sp4

 

Does anyone know if Crystal Reports Server 2008 should work with Java 1.8 and Wildfly (JBoss 8)?

BI 4 - Web intelligence blank page from BI Launchpad

Hi

We've just migrated from BO XI 3.1 SP 6 to BI 4.1 SP 6.

Users are authentifed on a portal from which they reach BI launchpad. When they try to open an existing report or when they click on "Web Intelligence" link, a new page is opened but it's blank. This issue occurs for some users, but not all of them and it doesn't when users connect to BI launchpad "directly" (without portal).

After reading some discussions here about "blank pages", we tried to clear tomcat cace and redeploy webapps too, but the problem remains.

 

Where this problem can come from ?

We see no message in log files (yet we started tomcat with "debug" logging level) ; how is it possible to get more logs ?

Publication of Design Studio Application in SAP NetWeaver Portal

dear community,

 

I've published a Design Studio Application in SAP NetWeaver Portal.

 

Unfortunately the appplication is shown with the BI Launchpad Frame and the possibility to view the application Details (see attached .jpg)

Does anybody know how to hide the Frame and the Details stuff, when the application is shown in the Portal?

 

The Settings in the BI Launchpad are  not enough, I think.

RHEL 6.7 - Crystal 2013 - Bi 4.1 - Crystal Reports Server 2013 - SP07 - Lack of support

Hi All,

 

We've been trying to resolve an issue with RHEL 6.7 and Crystal Reports Server 2013. While installing CR2013 on to RHEL 6.7 we where able to perform a successful installation however we have hit a major issue which no one seems to have reported.

 

The issue we have is the reports will all sit as pending and will not run - We look in the processing server log and see entries like:

 

ChildProcessCreatorThread caught exception: <RASServerException ( errCode=<ErrorFailure> message=<An error occurred while creating a subprocess in the processing server.> rootCause=<RCIRAS0603> debugString=<[ProcWorkerManager.cpp : 6213] > message=<Internal error. Please contact your system administrator.> rootCause=<RCIRAS0603>

We therefore waiting for the service pack to be released. We therefore waited for SP07 and installed this as requested however the issue is not resolved. We are still having the same issues and therefore we have raised another issue however SAP will not respond to my ticket and have sat on it for the past 2 weeks.

 

Is anyone here able to provide any information or suggest any resolutions?

Connection for S/4 HANA in BI Platform 4.2

Hi All,

 

I think I'm asking the most strange question in this space but it seems this time my google capabilities are not good enough...

I have BI Platform 4.2 and I receive S/4 HANA access on Monday. How can I create a connection to access the data in S/4? I know how to create an OLAP connection, but should I just choose HANA and type all the parameters or everything is not so easy?

BO4 - possible to restart tomcat automatically if tomcat stopped

Hi,

 

Is it possible to have a windows based script which looks to see if tomcat stopped and restarts automtically if in stopped state between certain hours?

 

Any examples or downsides to this?

 

Occasionally we see tomcat in stopped state and restart manually as it has crashed.

Which rights has to be used to display or not display documents in the "recently viewed documents" of the BI Platform ?

I am looking for your help on how to give or give away rights for a user or a group to see documents listed under "recently viewed documents" on the BI launchpad.

 

I have been looking under "access level" in the CMC, but I am struggling...

 

Does anybody have encountered this issue already ?

Applet initialization error

Hi All,

 

During upgrade to BI 4.1 SP6,we noticed 2 issues with default installation(Out of BOX features)

 

1.Applet initialization error---When we try to create a webi report via Launchpad

 

2. Illegal access to the viewer,please use a valid url.---when we try to view a report via launchpad or CMC.
