BOXI3.1 - Error during security batch commit

Hi,

 

Accidentally, I removed some BI roles from CMC -> Authentication, consequently some users were removed from the system. Immediatly, I inserted the BI roles back, but when I tryed to reconfigure "user security" in a existing universe (theirs folders and reports) I received the error message: "An error occurred at the server during security batch commit: Request 0 of type 44 failed with server error : Cannot find the user, group or object 7535".

Did I lost this universe, folders and reports? Is it not possible to recover them?

 

I appreciate any help.

Service Now ODBC connection in Universe

We're using "Service Now" product.

We installed their propriety ODBC and able to connect in Universe Designer (BOXI3.1 SP5.3).

We see table structure, but no data is retrieved.

Crystal reports is working perfectly with this ODBC.

We know it is not supported with BO product line, but really like to make this work...

Did anyone used this ODBC before with Designer / WebI?

Can SBO or PRM file change do the trick?

dd/mm/yyyy date format appearing as yyyymmdd in 4.1 SP5 webI reports

Hi Experts,

 

We have currently migrated from Business Objects 4.0 to 4.1 SP5 . What we are observing is a lot of reports are showing incorrect formula outputs because the formulas were designed based on UK date format dd/mm/yyyy however in 4.1 they are appearing in 4.1 SP5 in yyyymmdd format .

 

I tried changing the date format in  \dataaccess\connectionserver\oledb\extensions\legacy\oledb.prm and also played around BI launchpad preference from browser locale to English(UK) but nothing worked .

 

I observed GetPrferredViewingLocale() is returning EN_US .

 

Kindly suggest what to do here .

BI 4.1 file system clean up

HI All,

 

we would like to clean up os level file system using a script. we have the script ready but cannot schedule a cron job in linux. is it possible to schedule the script from BI 4.1 scheduler? to be more procise we would like to clear lcm biar files under following directory every 10 days /usr/sap/SID/sap_bobj/tomcat/temp .

SAP BI 4.1 SP6 Server installation errors on Windows 8 System

Hi Team,

 

I am trying to install SAP BI 4.1 SP6 Server on my Windows 8 laptop for personal evaluation. I have read in system pre-requisites that OS should be Server OS but bot Client OS, however there is one blog which says if we edit product_seed.xml (Installing SAP BusinessObjects 4.1 on Windows 7 (for evaluation purpose)) from SERVER to WORKSTATION then installation process works.

 

I tried this approach and installation process worked. There was an error message at the end saying 'Installation encountered errors during installation process'. I checked the log and attached file contains the logs with line 'error'.

 

The log says system could not reach CMC, please check the credentials.

SAP BO 4.1 SSO using the SAML and Shibboleth

Hi,

 

We've requirement to configure the SSO for the SAP BO 4.1 SP04 Patch 5 system using the SAML and Shibboleth.

 

We've SAP BO Enterprise users and REMOTE_USER with the same name. We need to bypass the BI launchpad login screen while users login using the Remote_User id.

 

I've reviewed the BO admin guide on the "Trusted Authentication for SAML single sign-on" and few other forum topics. But it gives me very less clarity on fixing this. Could anyone, please help me with step by step process.

 

Environment : SAP BO 4.1 SP04 Patch 5

Web Application Server : Tomcat 7

Install failed on RHEL6

I am attempting to install Crystal Reports Server 2103 on Linux Red Hat 6.  When I get to this point

 

yum install libX11-1.3-2.el6.i686


I am blocked from being able to continue.  I get the following error:

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem

You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

 

It appears that this is a 32bit library. I tried to complete  the install, but it fails at the Prerequisite check.  How do I work around this?

redirecting HTTPS for BO

Hi All,

I am new in installing BO and I have found a problem while redirecting HTTPS for BO.

IIS redirect for HTTPS is too slow for the BO 4.1 webi reports specially for the reports which has long query. It takes 1 hr and then hangs. If we run same report on tomcat on http it works perfectly in 4 mins but if redirect it through iis server it hangs and never refresh.We ran IIS without HTTPS (on port 80) and there wasn’t any issue with the timeouts and slowness. When we switch to HTTPS (on port 443), we were experiencing the issue. Configuration of both ports is the same, both ports are communicating with Tomcat on same port with HTTP. This points out that issue is really in HTTPS. we tried to install apache web server and redirected the ssl it has same slowness for reports.

I am wonderig if the refreshing timeout is hardcoded somehow with HTTP in the version SBOP BI PLATFORM 4.1 SP05 SERVER WINDOWS (64B)?

Any suggesiton is welcome.

Question on Upgrading from .CSP to Visual .Net for BI Platform

Hi,

 

We are upgrading from BO Enterprise Release 2 to BO BI Platform 4.0.  Years ago we had a web page created using the .csp pages provided way back when to display reports in viewer with the ability to export in a few applications(excel, pdf, etc.).  I'm a crystal reports developer and do not know the web portion and my web developers are having a difficult time looking thru the examples and connecting it to the BI Platform structure.

 

If anyone could provide us with any direction, it would be greatly appreciated!!!

WDeploy with websphere application server

Hi all,

We are currently running a clustered environment and are using Websphere7 as application server for our BO 4.0 server. we currently have all these installed on four servers

 

 

server 1: web application server (Websphere 7)

 

 

server 2: CMS and some Webi processing servers

 

 

server 3: Webi Processing servers and Olap servers

 

 

server 4: Crystal Servers and Other remaining servers

 

 

we updated the servers with BO 4.0 SP8 service pack recently and now I'm looking to redeploy war files to websphere 7 server.

To redploy war files, where do I run WDeploy WEBSPHERE7 predeploy? I am thinking

step1) I should run this on server 2 (where CMS is) and package them and copy it over to web sphere 7 server (server1) and

step2) using web sphere 7 admin console, I can deploy these applications. is my understanding correct?

 

 

any details steps I'm missing or corrections would be very helpful

Promotion Management fails for Non-Administrators (BI 4.1 SP4)

Promotion Management fails for a non-administrator User Group on our BI Platform, but works for administrators.

 

Logged into the CMC as a user in the non-administrator group, creating jobs works. Logging into production and development environments through Promotion Management to access objects works (Crystal Report, Word Doc, Text Doc, etc.). Also, please note that the group has full control (in both environments) over the folder that contains the objects to promote.

 

Jobs fail when attempting to them, although the status presented is not "Failed". Instead the status of the job remains "Created" and does not change. The trace returns the following errors:

  • Job Promotion Failed: The specified Job instance is not valid.
  • Error in adding Audit event detail. Please refer to the stack trace.
  • com.crystaldecisions.sdk.exception.SDKException$InvalidArg: The argument has an invalid value bunch (FWM 02024)

 

If I log into the CMC as an administrator and attempt to promote the same job created by the non-administrator user, the job promotes successfully.

 

 

Additional setup information:

  • An Access Level is being used that has rights for Promotion Jobs, Promotion Management, Crystal Reports, and General Rights to Add objects to the Folder and Viewing Objects.
  • The Access Level is applied for the non-administrative group for:
    • Properties under the Promotion Management Application.
    • Accessing the LCM Folder
    • Top-Level Security for Access Levels
    • Top-Level Security for Temporary Storage.

BO upgrade from 6.1.A to 4.1

Hello all,

I'm preparing BO server upgrade from 6.1.A to 4.1 and I'm looking for some best practices how to do that...

 


I have 300 reports, some is on-demand, some is scheduled, FreeHand SQL and some are using VBA scripts. Currently I don't know to do with VBA scripts. Will it be migrated also or not?

 


Steps in general:

1) Upgrade to version BO XI R2 SP2

2) Migrate all content from 6.1.A to XI

3) Install a new server BO 4.1

4) Migrate all content from XI

 


What is the best way to migrate from 6.1.A to XI is to install a new separeted server and then migrate the content? Or is it better to upgrade existing BO to higher version on the same machine?


 

So if you have some experience with this please can you share your tips with me?

BEx query changes are not reflected through OLAP connection

Hi,

 

I've made some changes (Changed some variables) in a BEx query, which gives me a new prompt and prompt text.

 

I can see the changes in BW->RSRT and in the query designer, but if I use the OLAP connection on the BO Platform, I only see the old prompts.

If I add another dimension to the free characteristics, I can see and use it, but I still get the old prompts.

 

I've tried the following:

  • Changed the OLAP connection (To another query and back)
  • Created a new OLAP connection (Here I see the right prompts...)
  • Added an object to the BEx query
  • Tried to remove and re-apply the variable

 

I am using BW 7.3 and BO 4.1 SP 4 Patch 2.

 

I consider this an error, which I will report to SAP, but until this has been fixed I would appreciate any help I can get.

Explorer Install

Hello ,

 

Our base version install is SP04 and we then Installed SP05 and SP06 patches.

 

We are planning to install Explorer now. Should I download new installation of Explorer SP06 or Should I to go patches section and to apply any patches.

 

In Production , we have 3 nodes .Do I need to run the setup.exe files in all the 3 servers ?. Please correct me If I m wrong.

Sybase IQ driver and Linux BI platform

I'm having the following error message while i'm trying to refresh the reports which extracts data from Sybase IQ:

 

DBDriver failed to load : /opt/SAPBI/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/dataAccess/connectionServer/drivers/lib64/libdbd_iqdbodbc16.so (libdbodbc16.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory).

 

What I've done so far:

- installed IQ client tool Sybase IQ 16.0 Network Client Linux x86-64  with default configuration

-created odbc entry which point to my IQ driver.

 

Why does it still use opt/SAPBI/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/dataAccess/connectionServer/drivers/lib64/libdbd_iqdbodbc16.so if i've installed it in /opt/SYBASEIQ/....

 

here is extract from IQ:

UID=dba

DatabaseName=DWHIQ

ServerName=DWHIQ

Host=192.168.11.11:2639

Driver=/opt/SYBASEIQ/IQ-16_0/lib64/libdbodbc16.so

 

 

Most likely i have to modify and change smth, but what? I'm not really Linux admin guy, so do not have any experience in that type of configs
