SAP BI 4.1 - Crystal Reports Configuration

Hello all!

 

I am currently in the process of migrating our BI environment from XI 4.1 SP5 to BI 4.1 SP4.  New in this version is the Crystal Reports Configuration application.  When configuring that application, I took a look at all the printers on the XI 3.1 server and created them both on the server and within the Crystal Reports Configuration application, printer name is the same as printer connection.  In XI 3.1, however, a user can type in the printer name however they wish (all uppercase, lowercase, or mixed), whereas in new version, they select from a list.

 

I tried printing to a few of them with success.

 

My question is around recurring instances that are set to print to a specified printer.  We have around 1000 reports scheduled on a recurring basis to printers in the old environment.  When migrating over the instances, several of them get stuck in a running state on the new server, despite the printer driver and network printer being installed. The only way to get them to run is to reschedule them and select the printer from the dropdown.  I am thinking that the printer name has to be exact but am not sure...

 

Question:

 

Does the printer referenced in the XI 3.1 instance have to match EXACTLY the printer defined in Crystal Reports Configuration in order for it to run after being migrated?

 

For example:

 

XI 3.1 printer: \\cheops1\icuprint1

BI 4.1 printer: \\CHEOPS1\ICUPRINT1

 

causes the report to hang.. rescheduling the report and choosing the printer from the dropdown works...

 

I would like to get a sense of if we have to reschedule all our instances to match printer name before migration else we will have many reports that will not run upon Go Live.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

bi4.0 - space consumption under master database

Hi all -

 

We fixed the problem with our odbc connections and fixed the auditing as a result.

 

Now .. The local Microsoft SQL administrator has advised me that 'user tables' under master are crushing my system.

 

I'm guessing that the tables in the master database (dbo.ADS_APPLICATION_TYPE_STR, dbo.ads_auditee, etc .....) are the audit tables and are fillign  up my space in the system.

 

is there a way to minimize what is getting written to them?

 

Could some type of trace also be running which is forcing this environment to generate so much traffic?

In CmcApp.properties, there is a setting for "logontoken.enabled", but how do you pass a logon token to the CMC?

I ran a landscape report and the report indicates that I have two versions of the SIA installed.  BI 4.1.SP2 and BI 4.SP3.  Has anyone experienced this and what was your resolution?

SAP BOBj SSO

Hi all,

We have BI 4.1 and SAP BW 7.3.

And we have scenario that we need to setup SSO between BW system and BI4.1 as we are going to call OpenDocument urls from SAP BW .

Initially user logs into BW, go to custom transaction,  and from there opendocument URL will be called by user clicking.

When a user clicks on the URL appears the authentication screen of OpenDocument with secEnterprise Username/password.

We have configured the SAP authentication on our BusinessObjects system towards the SAP BW system and imported the roles from the BW system. We have done it with follow steps:

  1. 1.Generate keystore and certificate for SAP BO BI4.0

  1. authentication.default=secSAPR3

  1. authentication.visible=true
    • The global.properties:
    • sso.enabled = true

We’ve verified SSO with IDT - http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/Setup+of+SSO+againt+SAP+BW+for+SAP+BO+BI4.0+BICS+or+JCO+connections . it works fine.

Is it possible to setup a SAP Logon ticket which is passed to SAP BI 4.1 to enable SSO?

Do we need to setup SNC or  trust authentication, or, maybe, anything else?

Space issue in Boxi :- Local drive

Hi All,


We are using s/w SAP BO 3.1 sp7


300+ reports are scheduled as per daily run and each report fetches more 10 to 20 MB of data .

 

Issue:  File Store (Input and output folder) occupies max of hard disk (around 70% hard disk )

 

My Inputs:

We tried to place File store folder in share drive  and tried to change path in server ,we are facing issue .

 

Is there any alternate way to resolve this issue .

BI 4.1 on SAP NW

Hi,

 

We have to anyse if SAP NW can be used instead of Tomact on BI 4.1 for our new installation. We already have multiple of SAP NW 700 instances it is solid for J2EE based application, portal etc.
There are very good installtion guides availabel for SAP BI 4.1 with Tomat. I see the Web Deployment guide as well. Where shoudl I start from about the installation on SAP Netweaver?  I remember that it used to give choice for Web Server during install in BI 4.0.

 

How does the install work with SAP NW.

 

Plase help me.

Crystal Reports Server 2013 - hangs when viewing report in CMC

Hi,

I have recently installed crystal reports server 2013 on the D Drive of my 2008 Server.  I am able to access my folders containing my reports on my http://localhost/8080/BOE/CMC   -- I am able to log on just fine - access the report that contains the report - I can right click the crystal report and select view  - the report just hangs - at "please wait while the document is being processed" and never actual views the report.


crystal reports 2013 is also installed on this serve on the D Drive as well.

 

I am able to access the report just fine in crystal reports 2013 ... without any issues.  It is just when I try to access the report the CMC that it is not working.

 

This is a brand new server we are trying to install this program onto.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

 

I have already checked and the reports are setup to access the correct database with the correct username and passwords set in them.

Crystal Reprots - Export to PDF - The viewer could not process an event. Crystal Reports: Print Engine Error [] ---- Error code:0 [CRWEB00000119]

the Hi,

 

We recently updated our environment from BI 4.0 SP10 P1 to BI 4.1 SP5.

 

We have a SDK application using JAVA and WEB Logic 10.3 to get the reports from BO and show the results and users use to export that data in to PDF format for their business.

 

While doing the validation, users reported the issue for few attempts they are able to export the data to PDF format and then they are getting The Viewer could not process an event. Crystal Report Print Engine Error [] --- Error code:0 [CRWEB00000119]. And verified from CMC getting same error.

 

Error is occurring only with export to PDF, able to export to Excel, word, etc...

 

After few minutes of break / Processing server restart  again the reports are working for few attempts.. We don't have any issues with BI 4.0 Environment.

 

Environment Details:

Windows Server 2008 SP1

SQL Server 2008 (CMS DB)

Oracle (Reporting DB)

 

Please help me to resolve this issue, due to this PROD update schedule is impacting.

How do i get all the Unused and Used BO reports from Aduit DB?

Hi Team,

 

can anyone help me in getting all BO reports(which are used and unused) from Aduit DB.

 

i tried to pull the reports details by keeping filter Event Type name = Refresh and View, it is giving all the reports details which are in repository which have been deleted already + used + Unused.

 

but i need only the exisiting used and unused reports.

 

please anyone suggest me on this.

removing LDAP group

Hi,

i've got a little problem witch i cant handle, after hours spent on searching the web i decided to ask here for help.

SAP BO 4.1 sp4 installation.

One day one of administrators configured LDAP, and created some groups from that ldap (it was his private LDAP, standing under his desk). The LDAP is now disabled and its configuration is unknown.

How to remove that groups from BO? (when group is clicked with right button there is no option to 'DELETE' - its not even gray, there is no such option).

error ORA-01017 after connection change

Hi,

we've recently eddited connection related to few Universes, replacing server and username/password, from DEV entironment to ACC environment. New credentials are ok (i've checked it by testing connection in Universe designer). After exportingh Universe to the server and trying to run query in the report, i recieve error like: Database error: ORA-01017; invalid username/password; logon denied. (IES10901) (Error:INF).

 

Looks like problem is abuot wrong credentials, but im 100% sure they are ok. I've even created new connection and ive filled it with the same credentials, that the first one. Test runs ok like with pievious one, but when I've replaced existing Universe connection with the new one nothing changes and ORA-01017 appears again.

I've been looking for the solution for two days by now, i've tried to export Universe fiew times, nothing helps.

Unwanted empty space between two contacting tables

Hi,

 

I ran into a strange problem. I had to work with a report that shows data from several queries, but in "one table".

 

This "one table" is actually two, the formatting should do the trick: the bottom table's top is aligned to the top table's bottom position with 0.0 px between them.

 

Theoretically this should work fine. But as I exported the document to excel table, a new empty row appeared between the tables.

I do not want this row.

 

When I took a closer look in the editor, I spotted there a gap at 200% magnification.100.PNG

 

Also using the editor's zoom option will mess up the entire document.

The bounding boxes of the items are not scaled correctly, and this looks chaotic. (The thin line on the upper image is something about this chaos.)

Is this a bug of the system?

printtimezone is returning blank in Crystal reports

printtimezone returns blank when run from the BI LaunchPad but its working fine in Crystal reports tool.

 

Any specific reason. Could anyone help me?

web intelligence errors

Hi everybody,i'm facing some issues with web intelligence and i'd like to ask you for your advice.

 

We have 2 BO 4.1 separate installations ,in 2 separate servers (BusinessObjects 4.1 Support Pack 2 Versión: 14.1.2.1121 and SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 Support Pack 1 Version: 14.1.1.1036).

When i try to launch web-intelligence from the BI Launch Pad, i get the next error:

I get this error no matter what BO instalattion of the 2 mentioned is used, so i think it's something related to the java runtime versión or configuration.

 


Beside the problem mentioned above, we have another problem when running web-i in a different client machine. In this case, web-i launches succesfully, but in runtime, when trying to create a query  or doing some other common tasks, we get the next error:

When  we tried to update the java re in the first machine(the one with the  error of the first image) the rich client stopped working also, and it was working fine before that.

 

I don't think this could be an installation issue beacause it is present in both installations and they are different versions and different servers, besides there are 2 different errors depending on which client machine you try to enter

 

Any advices or help?

Unable to load report error in BI Launchpad

Hi All,

 

In production some crystal reports having this issue 'Unable to load report' using ECC tables(EDID4,EDIDC,EDIDS) as data source.

 

SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 SP3

Version: 14.1.3.1257

Crystal Reports 2013


I ran this report in local machine but it is executing more than 3 hours. And i also restrict the data with few IDoc numbers(20) in record selection but it is executed successfully with half an hour time.


Please advise how to solve this issue...

Crystal Reports 2013 - Logging into Repository

I am an administrator for our BI Platform 4.1 implementation. When I launch Crystal Reports 2013, I am able to use the Repository Explorer and log into our BI Platform Server. Once done I can see all the object folders and access or create reports in them.

 

Our "Reporting Analyst" do not have admin rights, but are able to access folders through BI Launch Pad and the CMC. They have "Super User" rights, so to speak. When they launch Crystal Reports 2013, they are also able to log into the BI Platform Server, but they can not see any of the folders.

 

Are there Rights I need to set to make this work for my Reporting Analysts? Thanks in advance for any help or info you can provide.

Is it possible to remove webi documents from BI4.1 webi richclient favourites

We are currently on BI4.1 SP4 PATCH5

 

I see it is possible to remove subfolders(even it is not empty) from root Favourites folder but it is not possible to remove individual documents(even from subfolders), which I feel a missing functionality or bug.

 


-- Not every user has access to launch pad.

 

Is this problem addressed in future releases?

Altering the Default Enterprise Location

IS It Possible?
