HTTP Status-500 Error when try to open Explorer from BI Launch Pad?

Hi,

 

I logged into SAP BI Launch Pad and tried to open Explorer from Applications link in BI Launch Pad.

At this instant i'm getting an error " HTTP Status 500 - javax.servlet.ServletException: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: com.businnesobjects.swd.appcontext.RequestInfo.getCafAppContext()Lcom/businessobjects/swd/appcontext/CafAppContext;".

 

The detail error message in the below attached screenshot.

 

Can anyone help me to solve the above.

Our BOE system landscape is    QA & Prod.

 

We have have been doing all development in Prod and our QA is out of sync for last 11 months. We have around

 

3000 Users

366 Groups

3400 object list

10 universes

 

I need to SYNC our PROD now with QA. I need to promote all the content using LCM. Can someone please recommend the best way to get this done.

BOE System upgrade/ clustering

Hello All,

 

I need some recommendations. We have a cluster Prod environment with two servers (diagram attached). I need to add 2 additional servers (cluster -  2 * BOBJ server/  2* Web servers) and after successful installation retire the old clusters. I need to also rename the new cluster environment (server name ) to old server this way users do not have to clear their cache. We currently have 3000  users, and 30+ concurrent users therefore trying to be careful.

 

In case you are wondering why we are doing this, its because we are moving to new cloud server boxes (Rackspace cloud upgrade) which is apparently cheaper and has better performance. Unfortunately, Rackspace can not migrate the content (DB's) from existing box to new one's.

 

I need some recommendations, and advice's if its is possible to keep same server names after retiring the old one's. Also when I need to create a cluster environments I will do a fresh installation of BOBJ server on both Boxes and then how should I move the content?

 

Also need to backup CMS/ FRS DB's prior to this activity any advice's will be helpful.

Hello,

 

 

 

we use SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.1 SP1 Patch2 and Datafederator XI 3.0

 

SP3. Operating system is Windows 2008R2 Standard Edition.

 

It is a migration from BO3.1.

 

 

 

If I open a universe and start integrity check for all objects the integrity check hangs.

 

This step needs hours for a big universe. Only universes which connect to Datafederator have this problem. Other universes with DB2 connection work correct.

 

 

 

Therefore it is either a problem on Datafederator server or on JDBC driver which I use to connect to Datafederator.

 

 

 

If I start integrity check then on the datafederator server runs a query for each field which

 

is in the universe. This means the integrity check makes a select to

 

all fields and query millions of records.

 

Therefore the process needs hours. Is this a bug in BO or is there a

 

setting for integrity check that no select runs on server when I start

 

integrity check like it is in BO 3.1.

 

Our old system does not have this problem. If I start in Business

 

Object3.1 a integrity check I see that no query runs on datafederator

 

server.

 

And I think this is the correct way. I think integrity check should not

 

run a query on datafederator server for all fields.

 

 

 

My question. Should I use JDBC or ODBC connection to Datafederator.

 

At the moment I use JDBC connection but it does not work correct.

 

Has someone a good Guide how I can connect BI4.1 with DF3.0 SP3??

 

 

 

Has anyone else such a system with BI4.1 and Datafederator XI3.0 SP3?

 

 

 

Reports are also running very slow because Sub Queries on Datafederator server does not look correct. Subqueries does not contain the correct filters from my reports. This mean if I use a filter as example date from 01.01.2013 till 31.12.2013 the Subquerries does not contain this filter..

Security contents redesing

Hi,

we need to complete redesign user group structure, universe folder structure, report folder structure and access levels or how see what.

The system now is live in production environment with two windows servers in cluster, with the same FSR on a NAS. Our version is BO XI 3.1 SP5

 

I want to use this procedure:

  1. in Time1, ask to users to export all web intelligence rich client report from C:\ to Favorites or in Public folder
  2. copy FSR and Repository DB from production environment (with SIA stopped) to a new virtual machine windows server with the same BO version
  3. work for approx a month on the virtual machine moving and renaming groups, folders, report and universe and defining new security relations from new user group to new folders (a new security matrix); all reports in personal folder are not moved
  4. test the result on the virtual machine
  5. in Time2, back up users webi reports created after the copy at Time 1 - point 2 (asking to users to save on C:\ with web intelligence rich client "for all users" and "removing security")
  6. install on the virtual machine production IT Projects deployments gone from Time1 to Time2 using new security matrix
  7. copy FSR and Repository DB from virtual machine to production environment (previous back up of FSR and Repository DB in production environment for security reasons)

 

 

I know that this procedure can create a problem with server names stored inside different DB Repository. I can ignore this issue?

 

If I don't use this procedure I need to use the Import Wizard to load contents from production environment to the virtual machine, work on the virtual machine, install IT Projects deployments gone from T1 to T2, use Import Wizard to load contents from virtual machine to production. In this scenario how can I delete all contents from production environment in a single click?

 

At the end, I need to align 4 other BO environments (development, test x2 and pre-production)

Only the production environment has two server on cluster, the other environments has only one server.

Basic admin rights in BOXI R3

Hi guys,

 

I imagine this is a commonly asked question with a very simple answer but I can't find any other related discussions...

 

I have three groups...

 

'Administrators'

'Admin Group'

'Standard Users'

 

The 'Administrators' group has our 'administrator' user, a super user with access to everything.

The 'Admin Group' is a group of users I want to grant basic admin rights (create user, change password, enable/disable user, delete user) to. These users should only be able to create/manage users in the 'Standard Users' group.

The 'Standard Users' group is a-ok.

 

So.... can someone tell me how to assign the following rights to our 'Admin Group'?

 

I want them to be able to:

 

1. Login to CMC.

2. Click 'Users and Groups'.

3. Edit existing users (enable/disable users, change password).

4. Create new users and assign them to the 'Standard Users' group.

 

And that is all. I don't need them to be able to do anything else. Just create and manage users in the 'Standard Users' group.

I've created an access level 'Admin Access'

 

And 'Granted' the following 'Included Rights'

 

Application > CMC > General Rights for CMC > 'Log on to the CMC and view this object in the CMC'

 

System > User > 'Add objects to folders that the user owns' + 'Add objects to the folder' + 'Change password for the users that the user owns' + 'Change user password' + 'Delete objects' + 'Delete objects that the user owns' + 'Edit objects' + 'Edit objects that the user owns'

 

System > User Group > 'Add objects to folders that the user owns' + 'Add objects to the folder'

 

--- Now, I've added the 'Admin Access' access level to the 'Admin Group' and I've made 'Admin Group' a member of 'Standard Users'.

 

I've created a select group of users and only added them to 'Admin Group' but I fail at the first hurdle... they can't even log in the the CMC!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated... please forgive my complete lack of knowledge.

Information Design Tool does not prompt for login on startup. Errors when trying to retrieve a published universe

This look like a client issue.  I can log in with no problem on my machine.  When I try using a co-workers system the Tool doesn't prompt for login when it is loading the workbench.  When we try to retrieve a published universe we get the following:

 

Error:

Failed to log on host , com.crystaldecisions.sdk.exception.SDKException$OCAFramework: Unable to connect to service  from server  via CMS (FWM 01006)

cause:com.crystaldecisions.enterprise.ocaframework.OCAFrameworkException$ServiceConnection: Unable to connect to service  from server  via CMS  (FWM 01006)

We are using Enterprise authentication.


We removed and re-installed 14.0.6

I need details as to whether SAP BO V4.1 is certified to support:

Internet Explorer 8, 9 10 & 11

Firefox 3, 3.6, 4 to 9, 10 to 17 and 18-26

Chrome

Safari

Opera

 

I'm sure that this must be in a SAP document somewhere but I can't find it. The PAM for SAP BO 4.1 only mentions IE 7.0, 8 and 9 but I can't believe that these are the only officially compatible browsers

BOE 4.1 install fail - timeout to contact tmp CMS

Hi everyone,

 

I'm having a hard time deploying BOE 4.1 SP2 in our environment,

 

The install completes with errors and when I check the install logs I can see that one of the steps tries to log in to a temporary CMS and eventually timeout.

My issue here is that the CMS seems to start correctly at some other steps during the install and it also runs correctly post-install, so there is no firewall, anti-virus or DLL/system issue with it.

Using TCPviews, I can see that this temporary CMS process is actively talking with our MSSQL DB, although not through the 6400 port which the install process is monitoring to log in.

 

The host is a windows server 2008 R2 box, patched with 2005/2008 C++ redist.

I disabled IPV6 as mentioned in another thread but it didn't help.

 

To me it's more like the install process doesn't allow enough time for the tmp CMS to complete some task (never checked but probably time out at 15/20 min).

 

Anyone experienced something like that? any solution?

Are there any options to speed up a CMS loading? Add Index in DB?

BO 4.1 SP3 WebI section space Issue - Work around

SAP BO 4.1 SP3 Update

Windows 2008 R2 Std x64 Edition SP1

Universe - Single Source UNX

 

 

We upgraded from SP2 to SP3 recently and while working on the WebI report, I noticed that WebI reports with Section creates big spaces between sections and the table block. There is a setting to adjust the Top header vs actual section header space using Format Section. But in the View Mode, there will be lot of space between table blocks due to the Section boundary.

 

So, I read web articles and tried couple of options but in vain. But the following work around helped me to overcome this issue !!


I tried to create it from a new 'Add report' in the same WebI report, so that I can reuse my earlier tables/cross tabs etc.


1. At the bottom of the WebI report Right click the tab -> Add report -> In the new sheet go to Report Elements -> Section -> Insert Section and select the object from the UNX.

2. A new section is created.

3. Now check whether you can adjust the section size manually. If yes, then copy the Header content / table blocks from the problematic tab to this new tab;

4. You can use the newly created report for other tabs.

 

The above steps are work around ONLY.

For me it looks like a SAP Product bug. If anyone else had similar issue please post your comments !!

BIP 4.1 SP4 Uninstall Causes Fail After Reinstall

I have installed Business Objects (BIP?  BOE? BOBJ?) 4.1 SP4 on Windows 2012 for a three system landscape.  One of them accidentally ended up on the wrong drive.

 

I checked the admin guide and the installation guide.  I did not find anything about uninstalling it, so I uninstalled using the Windows control panel Programs and Features option.

It removed the services but left the directory in C:\Program Files(x86), so I deleted it, restarted the server and reinstalled on the correct drive.

 

The new installation does not start.  In the new installation's logging directory I see an SIA trace:

The SIA is trying to find cmd.exe in the original installation. There is clearly some part of the original installation that has not been removed, and SIA is finding it and using it to find files.

 

Do you, by any chance, know where what I need to do to fix this?

BODS Integration with SCM, CRM, MDGC

Hi Everybody :

 

We have client requirement of integrating ECC, SCM, CRM, MDGC with  BODS. There's  SCN Blog for ECC Integration to BODS i.e.

However, I don't see any reference in this blog about how to connect SCM, CRM, MDGC with BODS 4.2. SP3 DS 4.2 SP3 on IPS 4.1 SP04 w/ Tomcat 7.0.32

 

Pl. share your knowledge :

 

1. Is there any side effect of  Importing  R3 TR of Data Services in ECC as the above blog suggests ?

       - There's note 1919255 which suggests to open the OSS and request not yet published 'pilot' note 1916294 and follow that note : we have already

          done that and awaiting the note + inputs from SAP but, meanwhile would prefer to know from the Consultants who already have established

          this source system connectivity

 

2. What are the Steps to configure SCM, CRM, MDGC as Source system for Data Services ? Unless I missed I do not see any specific note,

         blog etc. for the DS Source System configuration for these systems.

Best Prac or Setup for BOE Development Environment 4.1

Good Afternoon,

 

I was wondering if there is any documentation out there on set-ups for development systems in order to promote tested objects from a dev environment to a production environment for BOE 4.1 ? We have a production environment in place and are configuring a dev box. Would like to set the machine up as efficiently as possible but I haven't seem to locate much material on this. Any information is appreciated!

Excel xlsb file opens as xls via BI Launchpad

An xlsb file was saved on Repository.  When trying to save/open it via BI launchpad, the extension appears as .xls and an error is received

 

 

 

"The File you are trying to open is in a different format than specififed by the file extension. verif that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?

 

Is an xlsb file supported?

Rerun failed scheduled reports for USER

All,

 

 

I have several groups of users.  ex.  Group A  has user1, 2, 3, 4 ...

 

If schedule for Group A and say user 2 fails  how can I rerun just user1 without manually setting the job to run now for user1?

 

Rerun runs the report against admin ID, reschedule picks up admin ID by default.

 

Should not Rerun just run the job as it was setup?  destination holds true.  but ID is pushed back to Admin/who ever is logged in managing the job.

 

We are on BI4.0 Sp4 no patches.

 

ideas here?   I can easily get the list of failed runs via Instance Manager...just can't easily run the job one more time.

How do sessions work in BI ?

What is the work flow for session logged in and logged out?

 

I have BO 3.1 SP5 machine (windows ,tomcat),only AD user's sessions are remaining stale. Other users using LDAP authentication/Enterprise, their sessions do not stale.

 

Time out is 5 minutes, logon token is disabled.

Existing reports to change the user id

HI I have created some reports on the CMC but the mistake I made is that I used my id  here for user and password. We do have a generic id for that which i was supposed to use, something like 'CrystalUser' but at the time, i could not get the password. the problem is that i can never change my password to the server which i need to do at time. and if i ever leave the company, there's a mess obviously. the question is, can i just go to a recurring report and just change the database configuration logon, now that i do have the crystaluser password?

 

Set the default database logon information for whenever the report's data source is refreshed
