I need to understand more about LCM and I am finding there is limited information on this. My understanding so far is that
- LCM can be installed centrally or on each server. It is recommened to install LCM centrally, we are opting to install it on the development server (it will be treated as a production server, i.e. backed up etc.). In turn do we just not install LCM on the UAT and Production Servers as not required or do we need it on those servers as we need to migrate objects to these systems?
- When installing it on the development server as we will be - my undertanding we will transfer objects to other environemnts from the Development Server i.e. Dev -> UAT, Dev -> Prod.
- Is version management treated as separate step to promotion management. Guessing it is? i.e. you use your version management on the Development System (checking in / out items) and then use promotion management to tramsfer the latets versions of the object?
please let me know your views on the above.
