olap connection

Hi

We are using BI 4.1 and I want to create a connection to SAAS. The server with the MS SQL Services Analysis is in another server but within the same domain.

I have found the following article that explains how to connect using IIS. Is there any other way to create the connection that does not imply to create a IIS on the server? Will it have any impact on the performance?
