database is oracle 11g both the application server and database server exist on the same machine
The other day i was working on DS 4.2 suddenly the CMS and tomcat stopped working (which was a bit surprising first) so we thought of restarting the machine . so after restarting the machine Tomcat and SIA got started up but CMS didnt start up there was no process of CMS created .we tried starting it again and checked the processes,the CMS process was getting created but it went off after few seconds .
The event viewer logs had the following entries. I am able to login and querie BOAUDIT databses tables and the cmc database from sqlplus , sqldeveloper,and sql tools.
CMS is unstable and will shut down immediately. Reason: SAP BusinessObjects BI platform CMS: Unable to connect to the CMS system database "XYZ". Reason: p (FWB 00087)
The root server reported an error Initialization Failure. (Reason: SAP BusinessObjects BI platform CMS: Unable to connect to the CMS system database "XYZ". Reason: pSAP BusinessObjects BI platform CMS: Unable to connect to the CMS system database "XYZ". Reason: p CDatabase::Open failure.

this is really astonishing we are not able to figure what is the cause of this problem and how did it occur.. we are not able to resolve it .
please experts need your help . (we dont have LCMBIAR BACKUP OF ALL THE WORK WE HAVE DONE .IE WE DONT HAVE THE LATEST LCMBIAR BACKUP,HAVE A TWO MONTH OLD COPY )
