Crystal Server parameters

Hi,

I'm basically scratching my head over trying to do two pretty straightforward things in Crystal Server (im sorry if this is the wrong forum, please redirect me if so)..

My needs are to be able to schedule Crystal Reports within Crystal Server 2011 that have a flexible parameters entered.  Typically i will want to either enter a custom date range, or a particular client to report on, or both.  I also would like to be able to use whatever parameter that i have selected to be included in the file name.   the whole placeholder thing is pretty short on details, and maybe people have found a workaround.

so the net result is that i could have a report that is scheduled for last week (lastfullweek?) one time, but yeartodate another time - unless i make two separate reports with those already entered...seems like i should be able to specify whatever i want with the same report?

but once i have it, i would be able to specify the output file name as "Weekly report for Customer X, May 2013.pdf", where Customer X and May 2013 would change from report to report.  do i really need a separate schedule for every slight variation?

any ideas?  i did see someone put up a custom date range parameter translater (so Last Full Month as a string gets converted), but it seemed convolutetd and if i had to pass some other parameter, would be hard to track.  just seems like there must be an easier method im not seeing...especially to keep track of file names with appropriate place holders.
