I'm using the Infomation Design Tool to create a data foundation. One of the connections is to my SAP ERP instance. I can access most of the desired values by adding the associated tables. Some of the values, however, are stored as text items; my SAP developer (who is not a BusinessObjects developer) tells me that the only way to get to these values is by "using the READ_TEXT function module". He also says that he has called the READ_TEXT function module in his queries (again, in SAP--not using the BusinessObjects platform).
Is it possible to retrieve data using a function module within the BusinessObjects BI platform? In particular, within a data foundation / universe? If not, are there other methods to retrieve such data?
