Issue with language specific characters combined with AD-Logon to BO platform and client tools

We are using SSO via Win AD to logon to BO-Launchpad. Generally this is working which means for Launch Pad no manual log on is needed. But  this is not working for users which have language specific letters in their AD name (e.g. öäüéèê...).

 

What we have tried up to now:

  • If the AD-User name is Test-BÖ the log on is working with the user name Test-BO with logon type AD
  • If the logon Type "SAP" is used than it is possible to use the name Test-BÖ as the username
  • Generally it is no problem in AD to use language specific letters (which means it is possible to e.g. log on to Windows with the user Test-BÖ)
  • It is possible to read out the AD attributes from BO side and add them to the user. Which means in the user attributes the AD name Test-BÖ is shown via automatic import from AD. So it's not the problem that the character does not reach BO.
  • I have opened a ticket concerning that. SAP 1th level support is telling me that this is not a BO problem. They say it is a problem of Tomcat. I don't believe that because the log on with authentification type SAP is working.
  • I have set up the same combination (AD User Test-BÖ with SAP User Test-BÖ) as a single sign on authentification in SAP BW and there it is working without problems.

 

Which leads me to the conlusion: It is not a problem of AD. It is something which is connected to the BO platform but only combined with logon type AD because SAP Logon is working with language specific characters.

Unable to open webi report WIS 30912

Hi all,

 

After reinstalling the BO XI 3.1 server we are unable to open the previously created WebI documents. When we try to open such a document we get the following message :

 

The document has been locked by the user 'BODWH' on the following cluster : '@CDMSCOXP.localwan.net:6400'. You cannot open this document on the current cluster. To open the document, log on the correct cluster as the correct user and save the document unsecured. If the cluster is not reachable, try to connect to the following system : '@CDMSCOXP.localwan.net:6400'. If this system is not reachable or not online, try the previous offline session with the connection 'cdmscoxp_6400 (Offline - 04/09/2008 09:03:2'. (WIS 30912)

 

 

Any idea how this can be resolved ?

Can XI3.1 SP7 be applied on top of SP3 for Windows?

Hi,

 

Can I directly apply XI3.1 SP7 on top of SP3 for Windows?

The reason I am asking this is because it states that "You can upgrade to the current service pack from any of the previous two service pack levels (SP4 or SP5)" on page 4 of " SAP BusinessObjects XI Document Version: 3.1 Service Pack 7 - 2014-03-19 Service Pack Update Installation and Deployment Guide" on http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000196552014E/xi31_sp7_install_en.pdf.

BO 4.0 Audit Universe User Name List

Hi,

I'm currently having an issue with the BO Audit universe with regard to the User Name and ID. We use SAP as the authentication type and hence our SAP credentials are what is used to log on to BOBJ. The Audit universe has the dimension User Name and an attribute User ID.

 

The user ID, generally, is supposed to be of the format <server~client>/<user ID>. For example,

 

User ID

User Name
DEV~100/RANGSRangarajan Sarangan

 

However, in the system I'm working on, what is supposed to be my User ID is populated in the User Name field and a string similar to the CUID of reports is what's coming under the User ID.

Again, for example:

 

User IDUser Name
Abctv8tvHG4mnqjg.atrDEV~100/RANGS

 

How do I get the mappings right? I do not have access to my client's CMC, but if there is a solution that needs to be done at the CMC, I can ask for it to be done. Or is my original assumption wrong and this is how all User ID and Name is populated?

promotion Management loading issue

Hi All,

 

I just Installed BI 4.1 SP2 server on AIX 6 ,and i am able to open the CMC ,but i have an issue while trying to open the Promotion Management from the CMC !

"

Sorry, Promotion Management application is unable to process your request.

The error from the server is:server 0, Index 0)

Please I need your Help & Support .

 

BI Version :BI 4.1 SP2

Server:AIX 6

AES256 for SSO keytab

I have set up silent SSO for Crystal Reports Server 2013 (essentially the same as BI 4.1) on Windows Server 2008 and it is working using the wedgetail parameter in the Java options in tomcat, and the following lines in the krb5.ini file:

default_tgs_enctypes = rc4-hmac

default_tkt_enctypes = rc4-hmac

The next step is to take the password out of the Java parameters and set up a keytab file, but the installation standard is to use AES 256 encryption. 

My questions are:
1. Is it possible to use AES encryption? I know it was not supported in the past, and
2. If AES can be used, what are the substitutions needed in krb5.ini and the ktpass command? (The ktpass command has a -crypto parameter with a value of AES256-SHA1 that I assume would be the one I need).

BI 4.1 auditing sample reports in WebI format ?

Hi!

 

Is it possible to get auditing sample reports in WebI format instead of Crystal format (like in previous versions of BO) ?

 

When Crystal is not used by a custommer, it's a pity to install and run Crystal servers & client just for auditing reports, isn't it ?

ERR_WIS_30252 when executing reports to Mobile BI on iPad

Dear all,

 

we have few of the reports in SAP BI4.0 SP6. same reports needs to be accessed through mobile as well.

 

Reports are published in the Public folder, later same report are included in the categories (Mobile and MobileDesigned)

 

View on Demand access has been given to users in Public folders and Categories.

 

Users are able to refresh the reports through launchpad from Public folder and Categories.

 

But when the execute the reports in the IPAD they are getting the below error.

 

Your security profile does not include permission to edit this document (Error:ERR_WIS_30252)

 

If i include the user in Administrator , then it is working.

 

Am i missing any thing here. Could you please provide your inputs

Infoview report display Issue ?

hI ALL,

 

 

I am using BOXI 3.1 sp5 and crystal reports

I have 2 sub reports in a main report

 

Here is the main report : WIth no lot number on left side ; when i double click on sub report it is opening sub report and showing me Lot number

 

 

 

 

 

Can i  Show lot number in main report too?

Display Issues w/Launchpad

I am having multiple issues with BI Launchpad not displaying the options I think it should. I wanted to post this here before I created a ticket.

This is BI 4.0 sp3

Internet 10

Win 7

 

1. User or Admin I do not see the Preferences option

2. home screen does not show any option to my folders or reports

3. When I do get t to reports and I am prompted for parameters, There is no way to cancel or close it with an 'X'

4. The left menu shows like this instead of it being all opened up so that you can see all of its contents of 'Folders'

5. last issue is when I login via sso/WinAd it keeps logging in when refreshed. If I do login with another user via enterprise and then reload it will show the other users name but my permissions.

 

 

If anyone can help before I have to create a ticket, I would appreciate it.

PDF formatting issues on BO 4

We are migrating from SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI to SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 Support Pack 2 Patch 1. Our Crystal reports were in version 2008. We are having issues with text formating in our PDF documents. For example: lines will either overflow or wrap too soon, fonts on charts are sometimes off.

Can anyone help quide me on where I can look to fix this?

Start and Stop of BI 4.1

Hello,

 

I am planning to use the net stop / start "service name" to start and stop the SIA and Apache service on Win 2008 server.

This is as per the note 1305228, which is vald for 3.1.

 

My question is that is it valid for BI 4.1 as well.

Please confirm. Your help wil lgreately appreciated.

Does Promotion Management Gives You Problem?

We recently upgraded to BI 4.1 SP1 in our system and started to use "Promotion Management" to migrate reports from one environment to another. We often get "Partial Success" with a various reasons. Just doesn't seem to be very solid. When migrating from "Upgrade Management Tool" then no issues. What are your experience with Promotion Management? Any tips, tricks?

 

Example of some messages we get:

 

  • Failed to decrypt the object
  • Cannot open report document. --- Unable to load report
  • Cannot open report document. --- Cannot logon with the custom database information
  • Cannot open report document. --- Custom table prefix specified in the InfoStore does not exist
  • Cannot open report document. --- There is an error with the custom database information specified in the InfoStore.
  • Failure : Object promoted. Update failed. Error: java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method java.lang.Object.toString() of an object loaded from
  • local variable 'oldServerValue'
  • Update failed. Error: com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportSDKServerException: File Repository Server error : Could not save the file
  • Failure : Trying to create an object with duplicate name (Foundation Engineering Team and Developer)

Session timeout while scheduling a report on BOXI 3.1 SP2

While scheduling a report in BOXI 3.1 SP2  (On Unix)

 

When we click on Prompts link for the 1st time while using BO, BO takes more than 5 mins to return Prompts window.

 

After adding Prompts when I clicked on “Schedule”, my session times out.

 

Basically i want to know which apps session timeout  in web.xml i need to increase out of following

 

  • InfoViewApp
  • AdminTools
  • AnalyticalReporting
  • CmcApp
  • CmcAppActions
  • CrystalReports
  • InfoViewAppActions
  • PartnerPlatformService
  • PerformanceManagement
  • PlatformServices
  • VoyagerClient
  • Xcelsius

 

This is the current/default settings for all apps

Or i have to change it for all?

The CMS on machine '' was stopped due to a critical error. (FWM 20031)

Dear Team,

 

We have installed BOBJ server 4.1 and CMC was working fine.

Now while installing the BOBJ explorer SBOP_EXPLORER_4.1_SP2_MULTIOS__DL it showed at the end of the installation as ended with error.

 

After this when we tried to login to CMC we are getting the error as The CMS on machine '<servername>' was stopped due to a critical error. (FWM 20031).

 

I have attached the "error_boe_cmsd6400" log file with this.

 

We are unable to find the cause of the error.

 

The output of the command

./ccm.sh -display -cms <servername> is as follows,

 

Creating session manager...

Logging onto CMS...

err: Error:  Could not log on to CMS (STU00152)

err: Error description: The system <servername> can be contacted, but there is no Central Management Server running at port 6400.

 

Kindly help on resolving this issue.

All of my events being logged are 12 hours into the future.  Is there a local setting that BO 4 uses to determine the local time zone? Or some other setting, which it uses to determine local time?

Publications fail

Hello,

 

On a BI 4.1 SP1 Platform all the publications fail and it has never worked since the installation.

 

The problem seems too come from Axis2 so at first I replaced the Axis2 file with another one from a working platform but no result.

Then I patched the platform with patch 1 and patch 2 but still no improvement.

 

Any idea?

Performance Management and Predictive Analysis Servers - can we turn off?

We have a very new Enterprise XI 3.1 setup on a Windows Server 2003 system with SQL Server 2005 repository and databases. We do not run Performance Management or Predictive Analysis modules, and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to shut off the BOBJ servers which seem to be specific to those modules:

 

   PMMetricsServer

   PMRepositoryServer

   PMRulesServer

   PredictiveAnalysisServer

 

We're looking to see if we can get a few extra bits of performance by shutting these down. What we don't want, however, is anything else to be affected by these. We use

 

   Web Intelligence serving up inline WebI and Crystal reports (Crystal output distributed as Excel docs)

   Desktop Intelligence

   Xcelsius 2008-produced dashboards (some accessible through WebI/InfoView)

   Widgets

   QaaWS

   MobI

 

We have had a few issues lately, and things are really sensitive right now--any downtime is extremely frowned upon. We'd test on our dev environment, but it is down at the moment due to other issues.

 

Any thoughts on this? Would we be OK shutting down the above-named servers?
