Cache server metrics-Current Open connections

$

hello all,

I have a query regarding the dashboard cache server metrics in CMC.

When I run the dashboards, data is getting cached in the cache memory, but dashboards are using that cached data only when the "Current Open connections" in the "Dashboard cache server metric" is non-zero.

i.e., example when I run the dashboards for the first time, "Current Open connections" under Cache server metrics is 10. When I run the dashboards immediately with in 20 minutes, results would come very fast. But after 20 minutes , the "Current Open connections" are becoming 0(connections seems to be expiring) and after I run the dashboards, they are performing slowly though the data is present in the cache memory.

I have tried changing the "Idle Connection timeout" to 240 minutes from the existing 60 minutes, still "Current Open connections" under Cache server metrics is becoming 0 after 20 minutes.

Kindly help me as this is affecting the dashboards performance.

Thank you.

Read only access to universe using IDT

Is it possible to give a user using IDT read only access to a universe. Where user would be able to retrieve universe, but not be able to change or publish universe. Have had to put user in the administrator group so that they could retrieve universe, but we do not want them to have full access rights.

Thanks,

Bob

Crystal Reports Report Bursting

Hi,

I am trying to burst a report using one of the fields in the report. No user profiles etc is needed as I simply need data to be divided into separate files.  I did set all the properties as set in another similar post..difference being my report has 2 input date parameters.

http://scn.sap.com/thread/1846515

the publication is running successfully, but I always end up having all the data in single report.

What is being missed?

Please adivse.

Thanks in advance.

Issue Connecting to Web Intelligence SAP BO BI 4.1 FP2

Hi,

I have installed BI 4.1 platform and installed the license key. However when I try to access the Web Intelligence interface I get the following error after about 10 seconds of attempting to log in

"Your Session timed out. Close the Java interface and log on again"..

I have seen others with a similar issue.. My log file has the following

"No valid BOE license" (see below..)

Has anyone ever experience this error with a valid install/license key? At a bit of a wall here trying to fix..

Thanks in advance for an help on this matter

List of Users are not displayed when Scheduling/Sending Reports

Hello SCN Community,

Currently when I Schedule or Send a report, the users can only see themselves and not the rest of the user IDs that exist in the system. What configuration do I need to modify in CMC in order to display the full list of users? Can I also choose specific Users by filtering on the User Groups?

I assumed the Users Groups in which the particular User ID belongs to will allow it to display all the users contained in those groups but that is not the case. We are currently on BI Platform 4.1.

I have a requirement to display the Log Solution/Log Comment activities from Service Desk tickets onto the new BOXI report. With the custom formula that uses Last() function which displays only on the first record and rest it just blanks out for some unknown reason. It would be great if anyone can share a solution who has achieved a fix to such problem in BOXI.

New installaion of Crystal Server 2013 box and move the existing Crystal Server 2008 data and all contents to a new server in CR 2013. What are the challenges and issues? Is this possible? Can we just do a new installation of 2013 server and import everything from 2008 server. Is everything moved over seamlessly, like the Scheduler jobs, users and groups, security etc are there any things which can't be moved over and needs to be manually created from scratch. Please share your experience.

Tomcat 7.055 for BO 4.1

I was recently informed from our network security team that the tomcat we have installed with SAP BO 4.1 SP2 is out of date. I was able to upgrade the tomcat independently from 6 to 7.0.32. But I was told the vulnerability exists in versions older than 7.0.55

Does anyone know if there is a compatibility issue with this or any newer version of BO. If there isnt where can i download and install a newer version of tomcat.

I tried and downloaded the jre-8u25-windows-x64.exe from Java which upgraded the JVM to 1.8.0_25 but my tomcat is still at a 7.0.32

Thank you,

Zac

BO 4.1 SP3 WebI section space Issue - Work around

$

System:

SAP BO 4.1 SP3 Update

Windows 2008 R2 Std x64 Edition SP1

Universe - Single Source UNX

We upgraded from SP2 to SP3 recently and while working on the WebI report, I noticed that WebI reports with Section creates big spaces between sections and the table block. There is a setting to adjust the Top header vs actual section header space using Format Section. But in the View Mode, there will be lot of space between table blocks due to the Section boundary.

So, I read web articles and tried couple of options but in vain. But the following work around helped me to overcome this issue !!

I tried to create it from a new 'Add report' in the same WebI report, so that I can reuse my earlier tables/cross tabs etc.

1. At the bottom of the WebI report Right click the tab -> Add report -> In the new sheet go to Report Elements -> Section -> Insert Section and select the object from the UNX.

2. A new section is created.

3. Now check whether you can adjust the section size manually. If yes, then copy the Header content / table blocks from the problematic tab to this new tab;

4. You can use the newly created section report for other problematic report tabs.

The above steps are work around ONLY.

For me it looks like a SAP Product bug. If anyone else had similar issue please post your comments !!

Thanks,

Chithresh

Hello,

In CMC, I am unable to access the 'Failed' and/or 'Success' click-able links in the history tab in order to pull the log file.  This happens for some instances in CMC, not all. And, this just started happening.  It was always working before.  Strangely, I am able to access the click-able links in InfoView.

I am running Business Objects 3.1 Edge SP6 via Internet Explorer 10.

Can someone please assist me with this?

Thanks,

Zack

is there a way to delete a report from SAP BO that won't be right clicking on it, organize, then delete. Something from the database because I have a report that for some reason has more than 2 million iterations trying to run and is making my server to crash and preventing that other scheduled reports to run.

Reset BO4.0 - CMC Administrator Password

Hi Experts,

I got this situation. I forgot CMC Administrator account password and I tried to reset using the resolution steps provided SAP.

Symptom:

The password for the administrator password is lost and there is no other account with administrator rights to log in the CMC and reset the password for this user

Resolution:

The steps required to perform are detailed in the Installation guide attached in the references section. However, there is one mistake in the order of the steps.

Page 71: Chapter 5.9.1 To reset the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform administrator account password

1. Locate the CMS process: launch the Process Explorer utility, and locate CMS.exe.

2. Copy the CMS command to the clipboard. In Process Explorer, copy the "Command line" field.

3. Use the Central Configuration Manager (CCM) to stop the SIA. To launch the CCM, go to Programs > SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise

XI 4.0 > SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise > Central Configuration Manager. Once you have confirmed that the SIA has stopped,

proceed to the next step.

4. Paste the CMS command to a command-line. Do not press Enter. Open a "Command Prompt" window and paste in the contents from step3.

5. Append the -serverconsole switch to the command and press Enter. For example, note that the following command has -serverconsole

appended:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64\cms.exe" -loggingPath "C:/Program Files (x86)/SAP BusinessObjects/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/logging/" -port 6400 -restart -dbinfo "C:/Program Files (x86)/SAP BusinessObjects/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/win64_x64/_boe_ACME.dbinfo" -noauditor -autoboot -fg -name ACME.cms - pidfile "C:/Program Files (x86)/SAP BusinessObjects/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/serverpids/ACME_ACME.CentralManagementServer.pid" -serverconsole

The SIA is launched in serverconsole mode. You will be prompted when the SIA is ready to accept commands.

6. Go to the following folder: <BOE_INSTALL_DIR>\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\dfo The dfo folder

contains a subfolder with a randomly generated name starting with dfo_.

7. Copy the file named BusinessObjects_Administrator_dfo.xml from inside the dfo_ folder to the following folder:

<BOE_INSTALL_DIR>\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\packages

8. Enter the following query: select si_id from ci_systemobjects where si_name='Administrator' Four objects are returned. Record the

SI_ID for each object.

Tip: One of the entries should have the SI_ID set to 12.

9. Delete the objects by typing the following command for each object:delete <ID_NUMBER>

10. Verify that the objects have been deleted by re-entering the command from step 8: select si_id from ci_systemobjects where

si_name='Administrator'

No objects should be returned.

11. Enter the following query: select si_id from ci_systemobjects where si_name='BusinessObjects_Administrator_dfo.xml' One object should be returned. Record the object's SI_ID number.

12. Delete the object by entering the following command: delete <SI_ID>

13. Type quit to exit.

14. Use the CCM to start the SIA.

15. Launch the CCM, go to Programs > SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0 > SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise > Central Configuration Manager.

You can now log on to the administrator account without having to provide password (leave the "Password" field blank).

I started performing the steps in the server console. But I got confused from step 8. On performing step 8, it returned the objects as in below image.

step8.png

As i'm a novice user of BODS, I didn't understand step9 and started deleting the objects using delete command(delete 19, delete 12) and i verified that no objects are returned in step10, I proceeded further performing step 11 which gave me the objects as in below image.

step12.png

This time I gave only delete 364 command, exited console and restarted CMC. But the problem persists. Where did I go wrong? In step 8 it showed in resolution that 4 objects will be returned. But for me, it returned 12 objects. I think I have screwed up something. I repeated the steps with no resolution. Could anyone explain what's going on.Please do the needful. Any help is much appreciated.

SSO Business Objects Infoview not working from other domain

Hello,
We use Business Objects XI3 SP5. Our users and the BO server are in Domain A. They log in to Infoview with SSO. That works fine.
Now we want to migrate our users to Domain B. There is a full two-way trust between the two domains.
To accomplish that we added a AD group from Domain B in CMC under Authentication -> Windows AD.
Furthermore we modified the krb5.ini.

When a user now log in to Domain B en open the link to Infoview we see that single-sign-on tries to login the user, but gets the error that the user is not authorisied to use the application.
We checked that the new AD group has the proper right within BO ( CMC -> Applications).
I can see that the user that tried to log in is created within BO.
We used kinit to verify that kerberos works fine from a Domain B account.

When I manual tries to login I get an error that says the Active Directory Groups for the account cannot be retrieved. The same error I gets when I try to logon with the Desktop Intelligence tool on the server.

Since 1,5 year we see an error in the CMS trace log that says:
assert failure: (.\ADQueryEngine.cpp:375). (0 : WINAD: ADQueryEngine::Query() -- No short name!).
This log grows very fast with this error every day (20 MB in haf an hour).

I do’nt now if this has a realtion with our probleem.

We are now out of options. I hope someone can help us.

Regards,
Oscar
